  6. Thanks to you all for your help,The saw is now up and running again. Total cost-less than £20!

  8. what parts do you need? There is a guy near here used to sell o.m stuff and did have a few bits kicking around on scrap saws.
  9. The reason I ask is that I have a 951 and years ago when working on the railway the gangs had "nut runners" as they called them and they were o.m.951 power heads about 50cc IIrc.
  10. I can t believe it,won 2 prizes! well done everyone for supporting the childrens trust and special thanks to steve and all for organising such a worthwhile event.
  11. Have worked for these type of people before, their usual attitude is"well if you dont like it you know what you can do".my response is normally "well I dont like it what are YOU going to do! .Dont be bullied or intimidated by these people there is ALWAYS ANOTHER job if you are good at what you do.
  12. Hope this helps! Our stove seems to put out more heat if the logs are loaded end first ie,cut ends toward the glass. The logs need to be about 9" to be able to do this.
  13. had a job driving a cat 16 grader years ago maintaining haul roads. would love to help but go back to work on the 7th driving 360.
  14. Thanks for that, seems cheap enough to repair.Looks very similar to makita except for the colour?
  15. hi all,I have a dolmar ps 410 that expired a while ago.At the time I replaced it with a stihl ms181 to finish a job, now over the holidays I decided to strip the dolmar out of boredom! It looks as though piston ring has stuck and there are signs of blowby on piston sides. The bore seems in good order so maybe a new piston & ring (40mm) also needs a brake band is it worth doing?
  16. thanks boys ,that does away with the 2 lots of fuel carried,.
  17. I remember reading once somewhere that burning driftwood can corrode stoves and flue liners etc due to the salt contamination, dont know how true this is?
  18. Probably an obvious answer to this question. I currently run an old stihl 048av along with newer stihl stuff,ms181,ms260,stihl blower etc.The handbook for the 048 recommends a 40:1fuel/oil mix with stihl oil or 25:1 mix with any other brand, however all the newer machines use a 50:1 stihl oil mix.the question is can I safely run the 048 at 50:1 on modern stihl oil bearing in mind that we are 20+ years on with oil technology now?
  19. Had similar grief myself once in a big oak trunk I had been given,it was about 4ft dia with wire embedded at least 1ft inside! how long ago was that nailed on I wonder?
  20. A welcome sight after all day in the rain today.
  21. cscs card only valid for one site? sounds like a site specific induction to me.
