  1. Photo's? Preferably of engine/fuel pump? I don't think I've ever actually heard of Katz... If you are lucky they will have used a common pump/governor and you will be able to get it repaired, failing that it might just be a throw-away item - worst case is parts not available and you end up getting a new motor/mower... Can you tell us a little more about the symptons? Has the obvious been checked - fuel filter/tank vent/fuel lines/is there a banjo filter in a fitting somewhere that might be blocked/is there a tank-filter that might be blocked/could it be drawing air somewhere? Tom On Edit: Do you mean Hatz diesel? If so, parts will be no problem: http://www.hatzgb.co.uk/hatz-gb-spare-parts.html and there are probably lots of small dealers around too. Hatz are good quality German equipment and have been around for a long time so you should have no problems if this is the case...
  2. Haha, Will do! I hadn't seen your location - you will pass Lloyds at Carlisle (just off J44) and Hoggarths at Kendal on your way down also. Townson's will probably be your best bet though. Enjoy!
  3. If you were going a bit past Skipton I would recommend Townson Tractors at Hellifield - their yard would make your eyes pop out too! Failing that there's Websters at Goole and Russells at Boroughbridge but have never dealt with either. Enjoy!
  4. Your starter should have a permanent live and a switched live (exciter wire) running to it. Permanent live 12v direct from battery on large cable. Yes? Switched live to small terminal on solenoid, small gauge wire. Disconnect at solenoid end, push multimeter probe up and put other probe to earth. turn key to see 12v. Yes? ^^ This would indicate switch and circuit ok. Check earth strap from solenoid to starter and ensure starter has a good eart too - unless an insulated starter. A better pic of this would help. Next check safety start switch. Will be on gearbox top-cover next to gearstick most likely and ensures stick in neutral to start. Easiest way is probably a resistance test in the two positions, or bypass it temporarily and see if it starts. It would be wise to replace this if faulty - saves a lot of broken ankles/legs etc...! Let us know how you get on. Tom
  5. I know where you are coming from but good lads and willing to deal. Excellent service and will stand by a machine. If they were that dear they wouldn't shift so many machines every day. Real tractors. Some of the 18 Speedshift's were flying machines too.
  6. MB Trac? Agri sprayer tank on back platform or front links for your pressure washer. Could eve have pto pressure washer on front too.
  7. Well done! Wear well with her and keep some saved in a pot in case she gets tummy ache one day...! Happy tractoring.
  8. Keen. Is that for a little mobile?
  9. Three words: "Fee for intervention" You decide.
  10. Is that someone local Hodge? I wouldn't put a Hiab out for that, let alone a mobile.
  11. Welcome to PV Dobson Agricultural & Industrial Division Used list is always up to date. Ask for Matt, he will find you something.
  12. First one I found: 1989 MASSEY FERGUSON 3080 6 CYLINDER TRACTOR 100 HP 2WD WITH AIR CON Tractors in Stanley, Chippenham | Farmers Trader That's a tidy one too. And then: Massey Ferguson 3080 for sale - Used and new Massey Ferguson 3080 at Agriaffaires Anything over 7500k is just not going to happen unless it is a very late model and absolutely immaculate with fresh tyres. Remember most of these are abroad so the market is different and there is also the exchange rate/logistics to factor in. Personally I would go and bid him about £4000 on it, especially if the rot has set in. Possibly part with £4500 i you really really want it. Bear in mind that when these go wrong they can cost a lot to put right, hence the low value. What year is it? Do you know which transmission it has? Tom
  13. Depends who's buying... 6k tops I would expect. Most likely home would be export now. You might pull more to the right man but you might be waiting a while.
  14. I don't want to bring a downer, I just want to share this. In the last six weeks I have laid to rest two good friends and colleagues. With a combined age of less than 60. That Baz Luhrmann song had a line 'Get to know your parents - you'll never know when they'll be gone for good.' It is becoming apparent that you never know when you'll be gone for good... So whatever you do, do it for the right reasons. We are often told to spend time at home etc - a topic I have seen many times on this board alone - but do what you think is right. If you live to work then fair enough, enjoy it make the most of it, be a good person and value those around you. If you have family, be close to them. Share with them what you do, enjoy each day and cherish them. There is no feeling more soul destroying than that of loneliness... Most importantly, do what is right for you. Fill your life with the right things, find fulfillment and happiness. We often think we are indestructible, iron men of the field and forest, stronger than any machine. Tough, hard working, strong and hardy. But in reality we are just as fragile as the next and when mother nature decides the show is over, then the show is over. Keep friendships close and never be in a position where you wish you had just said something - that opportunity may never come. Do not worry over things that will not affect the fact that you still wake every morning and see a new sun. We all have our problems, we all bear our own crosses and equally we are all guilty of blowing things out of proportion. Be safe, love what you do and those around you. I wish you all the very best of health. Tom
  15. Should have told them it was a .243 or a 12 shot Beretta... Nee-naww nee-naww...
  16. We were involved in the assembly of 'Cheap Chinese' compact tractors for a while on behalf of an importer. Whilst I cannot repeat some of the words and phrases that were used during this process, I can tell you that I wouldn't have one given. In use, the only 'good' reports we ever heard were from those who used them for seriously light work and/or did very few hours. Those that chose to use them in anger did not do so for long... The Japanese machines are a different story however and and of those should be a decent little thing, as well as anything European. Is the Kubota name worth paying for? Considering what you get back, I would say so.
  17. Be careful with this. Forks are generally moved on when they fail an inspection for excessive heel-wear or other damage and will no longer get a LOLER ticket. As forks are classed as 'lifting equipment' in the court of law - and they are of little use for anything other that lifting - then a cheap set could in reality turn out to be an expensive set. Bargains are of course still to be had, just be careful.
  18. Having run various Nissans over the years and still do I have to say that whilst genuine spares are indeed more expensive, they have a lifetime of at least 50-100% longer than aftermarket ones. I generally use all genuine now except if I need something urgently and Nissan are out of stock. ^^ Land Rover owner Rob? This era (2000 ish) were a vast improvement on the older ones rust wise, generally at least 10 yrs before anything and I know exactly what you mean about the seam swelling, just a tiny bit where salt has eventually got in... Good machine, go for it.
  19. Congratulations! And well done for getting there in time!
  20. We have various qualities of oil available, the one I would use here is equivalent to most of the other generic 'chainsaw oils' posted on this thread and others. Available as a 'light' and a 'medium' oil - no difference in price. So I'm thinking £1.25/l + VAT in 208's delivered and £1.15/l + VAT in IBC's delivered. Offer for Arbtalk Members only so you would have to inbox me for a discount code before calling. I will work something out for 20 litre containers also, need to see what other delivery options I can work with to keep it cost effective though. I also need to sharpen my pencil a bit with the bio chain oil at this stage too. If a really high quality oil is required then we can do that too, but it will obviously be a little more expensive. Thoughts please...
  21. Ok, going to crunch some numbers later on this. Pretty sure we can do something here. I am guessing we will need the nod of approval off Steve for an 'Arbtalk discount'?
  22. I'm a bit wary of saying anything as I don't want to come across as advertising, but if Steve was happy with it then I am sure I could sort out some seriously good deals on chain oil and maybe even hyd oil and grease for arbtalk members? If I get a bit of feedback then we can take it from there either way.
