  1. Tree down in the wind yesterday, that I've not had a go at before! Birch is it?
  2. Thanks for the help chaps! The fuses turned out to be of so, will have a look on that website mentioned to see if I can get to the bottom of it. Hiluxstihl, I'm not sure if its a Mk3, 4 or 5 tbh . Maybe you could tell me, it's the yellow one!?
  3. Speak of the devil William I've not seen those sold with the hand winch on before! Or at that low price!
  4. Thanks for the advice and for having a look Treeswinger, maybe thats what it is! Prehaps I'll swap a few round and see if I can identify a blown one! I tried having a look at the images on google before Yournamehere, but couldn't find a fuse board similar to mine. Thanks for the headsup/cough though ;-)
  5. As you can see, there is a fuse loose here! I'm assuming one of these missing fuses controls the cab lights in my Hilux single cab (1998), but as the fuse box cover (and fuse diagram) in the driveside footwell is missing I can only hope! :confused1 I need a favour Could I ask one of you kind fellow hilux drivers, that have a similar setup please post a pic of their fuse diagram so i know waht fuses slot into them there holes. Here's hoping!
  6. Hi Mac, I've been using veg oil for the last few years, its half the price of standard chain oil. Rapeseed oil in particular is what I use, just check the ingredients on the bottle, look for 100% rapeseed, often labeled on the front 'veg oil'. I sell firewood and it seems to work fine for all the wood I'm cutting. Maybe a little more chain/bar wear but nothing severe. I've got a 550xpg which has and adjustable oil pump which i've turned up to max. Added bonus is its bio oil. Cost £1-1.20 per litre usually in Asda.
  7. Thanks Dinosaw! Well done, it looks great!
  8. Dinosaw, any chance of a picture of your home made picaroon?
  9. The negative of this method though is that you are lifting all you logs one extra time. As volume increases this can become a problem. Also it limits the number of deliveries you can do in one day.
  10. I've been meaning to plant some sweet chestnut saplings in my small woodland for a few years. If I were to get hold of some seeds/nuts now and plant them would I get any germination this year! What's the best method at this time of year, any advice would be appreciated!?
  11. Will a builders bag with holes burnt into it be liftable onto the back of a truck without splitting, does anyone know?
  12. Try uploading to youtube and posting a link maybe!?
  13. I've been using it for a yrs or 2 with no problems. Just turn the oiler up a bit
  14. Have you guys tried rapeseed oil? I spotted Aldi veg oil (rapeseed) £1 per litre.
  15. Thanks for the input guys. I went for the 550xpg in the end!
  16. Would that splitter deal with a knotty 1x1 ft ring of seasoned Hornbeam?
  17. Thanks Sam. In Peterston-super-ely, there have been 3 or 4 burglaries, also in St Nicholas and Welsh St Donats apparently. Chavs from Ely responsible by all accounts!
  18. So, the night before last at 4.30am I disturbed a a gang of thieves in the process of burgling our house/garage. They made off with my 2 Husqvarna chainsaws (550xp and 55), husqvarna brushcutter 545rx, a masport lawnmower, chainsaw helmet. Also went through the whole ground floor of the house, where they grabbed cash in wallets, a watch, car keys and would have had alot more had I not spotted them out of the window! Apparently, there have been 6 burglaries like this in the Vale of Glamorgan in the last few weeks, so anyone local best keep vigilant and if you get offered these items get in touch please. I'm feeling really angry! Basically I'm now sawless and urgently need to get a new one to cut up a load of semi seasoned spruce that will be going out later this winter! I though I would post as I was wondering if there were any new wonder chainsaws about that I should replace the stolen 550xp with, which is now my main firewood saw and I like alot(except the hot start). I was thinking about getting the warm handles version, the 550xpg at the moment. Any thoughts welcome!? ;-) Cheers John
  19. Done. Thanks adw, clutch came off easy with a couple of hits, cord in cylinder style! The spring was a whole different story
  20. Haha, thank for the info Eddy! I'll probably be swearing prior to that trying to get the clutch off with hammer and pin ;-/
  21. My 550xp began playing up last week. The chain turning slowly on idle which I identified as being a clutch spring failure. I purchased a set of three on eBay and now need to fit it. Can anybody please tell me do I need to remove the clutch to do this or can it be done in situ? It's a three shoe clutch. Cheers John
  22. Hello Gents, Got a bit of a problem with my on Husqvarna 55 not lubricating the bar and dripping veg oil all over the show. It seems to be leaking from the spot I'm pointing to with the screwdriver in the picture. Any suggestions on a fix would be much appreciated. Cheer John
