1stly,, Congrats Stefan.!! Always good to Hear of someone landing on their feet running after putting the effort in.. Well done,, Well deserved.!! But I also totally agree with the couple comments meaning "Be very careful n don't be a fool".!! (If your having what reads as heart and body tremors), Its your body screamin "Stop Abusing Me.!!!" My first ever ever, Black Out.. came this year.. back in Late June early July'ish.. (Weird weather,, Very Hot Day for UK, hit 34°c at peak, think it was a record temp too.?) .. 2.5hrs after I returned home from 2x Massive Beech Stem Fells with NO sleep for just Two nights.. & I like to try work quicker than anyone else (as im gettin older too) .. Im also Insomniaphobic you see (SubConscious fear of sleep & Anxiety/Stress are the main triggers), average 4hrs sleep every 2days as a pattern.. but had it since I was 5, So its normal for me to sometimes miss a night or two in a row completely & still feel normal & work n not miss any sleep.. (Once I done it for 5nights running,, Only that once though.. Ive done 4x nights afew times.. But never 5th since & I wouldn't EVER go to work after 2nd Night No Sleep, n go work 3rd day.. now I learnt about sleep in more) ,,5th day,, it was pure HELL, and was Hallucinating & Everything & Couldn't even focus my eyes.. even started a 66 on THE WRONG LEG.!! Lucky PPE WORKS.!! straight after that I closed site for the weekend & then I didnt work for two days.. I slept for 2x days straight, not even woke up for toilet or eat.!! and woke up SUNDAY.!! Being Insomniaphobic feels like when your a child waitin for xmas the day before .. excited & nervous & worried all at sametime.. But still know you NEED to Fall Asleep & realise your still awake thinking about going to sleep.. HELL.!!! As I'm the main groundie, guess who moved them.. done 3/4s of them and stacked rings by time they were ringed up.. Drank so much that day was silly.. and ate lunch so had lil break & still I stopped sweating (1st sign of dehydration, didnt realise how exhausted body was,, But mind felt absolutely fine ) .. At the end, of the job I still felt quite fine and in good spirit to see the day completed, as you do.. 2.5hrs later & Just about to walk in to my bedroom after more drinks & straight out the bath.. Felt abit strange.. (2nd & 3rd Body warning, Lips felt Tingley) Immediately followed by Sudden Rush of Pure Heat from body, to my Head (4th & 5th Warnings) .. Then took last step from bathroom to bedroom .. they connect to each other .. on very small 1m x 1.2m landing.. (6th, 7th & 8th Body Scream comin).. Chest pains, stabbin Heart pain,, Then so Dizzy I thought, I'll try aim for the bed on this next step forward.. Then found myself on the floor, with head under the bed frame.. Confused as & panicin id had a stroke.. Tried get up too quick.. SMACK.!! Hit bck of my head on the bed AGAIN.!! .. Right infront of my gf Tracy.. she said I completely missed the bed, n looked like I went to jump on the metal frame instead of matress (I thought was the bed as that was what I could see,, Shows how dizzy I was dun'it) 2mins later sat on the bed I felt absolutely fine, just sore back of the head.. Lucky at home and not on site nor on a saw / machinery ay.. Hint hint.. Advice: Listen to your body more & Know your limits.!! Well done getting the Contract.!! Your lucky as in more ways than one.! STAY SAFE OUT THERE.!!!

There is actually.. But in 13yrs since the offer has been thrown out,, No ones silly enough nor mad enough to take it.. (Not even me in my "go Crazy,, do Anything days") .. Fancy lookin after Snowdonia National Park on your own for Peanuts.?? It is an actual vacancy for it, But is a Suicide Job,, and offer from a Big Named Bloke in this game I personally cannot stand. He got me fresh outta college (he loves them), promised the world, including further tickets,, doesn't do anything he promises,, and even changes your contract to suit himself, as well as taking bonuses he added, away, for the other crew not turning in that week, bcoz he signed half the team off for holidays, while the manager signed off the other two.. Only left myself & our team leader in for that week.. same week he saved the years Bookings Of BIG Tree Take Downs.. How Simon J, Myself & our manager managed to do that full week I dont know.. But we did.. And the Owner HELD OUR BONUSES.! .. If memory serves me well.. And it generally does with things like that,, I was supposed to get 8% while Simon was due 16-18%.. of the weeks total earnings.. (Mine would of been in the region of just under £13,800odd before tax) .. Plus Simons,, Plus the Manager J'z... for being the only 3x that turned up, early, put effort in, with no hick ups or any damage,, blah blah blah,, We couldn't believe it when the owner refused.!! Back then that would of been me Driving + More tickets,, & a well earned weekend break,, 2.5yrs I worked for that crook.. And hes still trading.. Still doin the same to others I hear.. But he the worst boss ive ever had to date,, Who now only comes to London Once a week, coz a family member threatend him over it.. 13yrs later,, I can honestly say,, I dont miss that boss one little bit.!! Another reason a tonne of young ones quit fairly rapid .. = .. BAD BOSSES like him.!!

Agree with Wes too there.. Brexit is scaring younger arbs into takin as many holidays as possible,, Come back to earn a touch.. n they're off again. Add to that, the colleges may be smashing out the Pass Rate.. The younger generation, as is written,, Get a shock and a half when they leave college to do the work.. Dont think they realise.. College is calm and slower and made a tad enjoyable (We had an ace tutor in Holme Lacy, Hereford.. Pete) he made it fun.. But also got our heads round it that the industry isnt for everyone.. It is dangerous,, and it is Phsycially Demanding on the Body & Mind. Its not for everyone, But if can get through say,,, the first couple months, safely too,, with a firm you get on with.. It can be a lifeline for tear aways like I was.. But it isnt for everyone,, There are moody people out there (public, and colleagues a like) which didnt help my confidence at first.. But perseverance and determination to succeed is vital in this job.. Youth of today though.. OH MY DAYS,, AREN'T THEY LAZY SODS MOST OF EM.!!! (Im still young as age goes,, but in this job, I even got called "Old" by a younger chap last week,, Im only 30 n can still run rings round alot of em Grounding,, "Fitness & Experience speaks oodles young gun .. I see you still have lots to do there & drag,, Well as ive finishd mine & cut & chipped,, I'll help you now" (cheeky lil bug, I thought, but didnt say) .. It took me back a bit being called "old".. Though I helped half him do the rest of his tree (Half of a fairly average size couple of domestic trees (small leylandii, self sown ash dismantle, couple bush shape ups, and think was ivy to be cut flush to the house out the front,, not much really was it) in a garden with a fairly short, 30odd foot, straight drag, to the front) He called in nxt morning sayin hes wiped out n cant get outta bed.. (He was crawling into the truck end of the day, n we could see he enjoyed the day with us), He wouldnt stop calling his parents and mates telling them what he done etc etc,, he just wasnt fit enough yet.. (I woulda kept him on for at least a week or two & praised him which he did deserve too) .. as he actually Listend 1st time,, Most the time, put the effort in,, Would tell us all what he comfortable with & not (Fair as, that is in my book,, We've all seen or met "Jack the lad".. "I can do everything".. But hasn't even got saw control yet n doesn't listen to experience nor common sense) .. But this lad in mind,, Enjoyed the banter with the "older half of the team", held his own with it & would start his own off too (if we could hear him), held a fairly rare, but appreciated high standrd of politeness to us & the customer .. It Was a shame he wasn't prepared for "Expected Pace" (Which to most of us is a snails one on the ground),, Was a shame he was the "Quitting type" .. He'd done the training,, not cheap is it,, passed obviously,, And found a crew he gelled with (another plus),, To then say "This works too hard for me,, Im going back to my old job,, Thanks for everything though, I did enjoy my day" .. (Singular) Was a nice lad too,, Nice customers for a day on one site,, On a sunny, Easy day.. He chose to jack it all in.!!. Either his parents are well off.. or he is, to go waste that kinda money for training and assessment, or he just wasnt prepared for it at all. They do come n go like that at times though these young ones.. n is a shame to see the better ones quit.. But hey ho.. NEXT.!!!

I think there has been a drought of late OldMill.. Alot of people chasing the money by goin out on their own has increased smaller firms and spread the better workers thinner than usual.. Going into utilities for winter work, getting ill,, Plus cheaper Holiday period.!!! (I forgot what the H word means myself) .. But thats generally the "word around town".

Muffler is sorted now with no leaks,, Didn't use the putty in the end, my matey just brazed it shut. Chainsaw now Primes,, But Doesn't like ticking over into Idle.. Carb problem I reckon.. If not Carb,, Possible Air Leak.??
-
Gone in on it as much as Possible for the time being on OEM Parts.. Couple Spares and Wanted Replacement Parts to still get.. Aaannnnd maybe a new Top & Filter Cover,, With a Shot Blast n Respray to bring it back to a Good Look.. (Under the Back Handle,, All the Paint has come off over time, Reason for wantin the respray) New Fuel Caps on it too, Took the Fake Chain Brake Off it, as was just for Show
-
New Lead & Cleaned coil, But now want a New Ignition Coil & Lead, Just to be Snobbish and Do it properly.. New Oil & Fuel Pipes.. & OEM Fuel Filter, Want a New Air Filter soon too.. Patched a Hole up (Possibly a cig burn from previous owner.?) with a bit of Sponge,, quick fix.. but it worked.. New Air Filter on Ebay Watch List too. Also Had new Pull Cord, Sprk Plug,, And a New Boot (Red, to Black).. With a Heat Sleeve over the Leads, just as precaution, As the saw is mainly gonna be used on its side. Compression was Good when Bought it.. Even better now,, And generally Primes 1st Pull.. Will Need a Retune once Replacement arrives or Modded Exhaust works just as good.. Hoping then it burns off the fuel better.. As have found where its leakin from.. shotblasted, Patched up with Exhaust putty,, and In oven for Drying atm.

(Also looking for new Bar Studs now as One Is Ever so Slightly crooked).. New Seals, Barrings, etc etc.. Worm Gear is Still Good, So is Oil Pump, But Will source Spares at some point in near future..
-

Right again mukka.. The old saw is a few years Older than Me.. But built for purpose and well.. Labour of love n so far taken about a day in time to get running again, spread over about 2months.. Soon as a part is delivered from the Bay, its put in.. Even gone so deep its now got an Original Filter.. again from eBay.. But not from US,, in the UK.. Gaskets I've made from O.8mm & 0.4mm sheets.. Tilletson Carb Kit (Replaced Everything, including Pin & Arm) Eventually getting there though.. Its just takin time to get the parts up until now.. Little savings from Waiting has paid off too.. (OEM Filter & Pipe, £57+£16.50 p&p.. + £14 international shipping from States,,) .. Now I have 2x sourced from UK for something silly like £2.97 each, Free P&P) ..

Thanks Stubby, I'll PM him later tonight.. Cheers mukka Nice one Bmp01,, Thats exactly my reasoning for asking.. and reason for wanting a Mod/Replacement, To which you have covered everything Brilliantly.!!! My saw isn't burning it off quick enuff atm and can leak (piss out) via the muffler outlet pipe if tipped up. It was suggested by a work mate to Mod it, but between us,, Dont know anyone near us atm that has the skills needed. Thanks for the proper Answers lads,, Greatly appreciated as always. Cheers

Knew it get a laugh or two,, but want to know if there's a better/same equivalent.. Its an old saw n original parts are hard to get hold of.. Hence the numpty question. Newer mufflers I've got hold of dont line up, or ports wrong size etc.. Dont mod myself,, So just lookin for a suggested method of quick replacement.. /.. a London based modder,, It hasnt been as easy as to match the holes.. Only now Finished doin the carb, pipes, gaskets, tuning, etc & got it running,, Got a bad leak in original muffler, so for now its gettin S.blasted today & patched up.. But wondering too if its worth "Swappin / Modding a New One for it.?" (Saws been brought back from the dead, Never done one before, let alone as old,, But enjoyin the giggles & digs for tryin)

Looking for advice on the above Chain Situation.. Id like expert advice please Abrtalkers.??. Researching them has been done .. But the Pro's n Con's of each,, to my understanding so far, is 'Preference.??' Surely one chain for milling is better than the other.?? Im looking for an all round Good pair of Chains I can stick to,, n not have to worry about swapping & changing, whilst going all through the market selections (Too pricey for me to do that). 1x For Hard n 1x For Soft bits (Dont like the idea of using one chain for both is all) With as little Finishing as possible,, Without losing too much chain from constant sharpening. Im guessing here,, (from peoples posts,, and Youtube, etc) Its also technique of the operator that dulls the Ripping Chain, Faster.?? Or is it the Angle n types of teeth.?? Id like to know any & all Genuine hints & tips that could help,, Before I go ahead n buy a loada wrong chains, or chains that dont do what I want them too etc.. OLD MILL,, looking for some advise off of you too if I may sir.. Thanks Arbtalk
