  2. 6yrs Exp,, Own PPE,, CS30 & CS31,, Chipper 222 Due to personal reasons, the guy I've been working for has had to take time out of work. Which has left me fairly free. Can do odd days but longer term is preferred but not necessary. If you would like to talk further, please contact me directly on: 07932859805. References available on request. Thank you

  4. CS30&31, Chipper, CSCS & 6yrs Qualified Exp. Own Saw, Kit & PPE. Also UTR Registered. I'm looking for Part-Full Time Domestic / Commercial / Forestry work, Willing to do Weekends too (Saturday & Sundays) Realistically looking for better wages (to Self Fund Extra Tickets) as the Bigger Company's down here are paying smallest wages going atm. (Seeing £6.70ph+ being advertised by an older company I used to work for,, what's going on with that.?) With that in mind, in return you'll get a hard working, reliable Groundie that isn't afraid to get stuck in. Would Consider Subbing Smaller works, As I now have a new contact in the area with truck & chipper (Also Groundie based in Uxbridge) Tel: 07932859805 / PM me if interested. Thanks Arbtalk
  5. Cheers Spud., Will try to see if cylinder etc is loose or rocking. Keep you posted. Cheers bud
  6. What plank puts a piston in backwards.?? Like someone in the know has commented., it's got an Arrow to show direction., haha.
  7. Put a New Piston Kit in & Give it a clean.. Now it vibrates like mad n when throttles applied .. Chugs like a gooden.. But starts first pull.. Idels well.. Only when need guts it's just spewin noise. What could it be please Arbtalkers??,,
  8. In West London with about 10-15tonne of it due to be felled. Chucking it out there to see if anyone has better use than Firewood??
  9. If your looking for someone to do light Maintenance / Quick Tree Works Gimme a Call: 07932859805 I cover Middlesex mainly. Can go further for higher fee. Feel free to call any day from 5am - 10pm to arrange Free Quotes. Thanks, Drew
  10. Shouldn't need a new drive sprocket but have a look to see how worn it is .. If second hand., then you've used it for abit., it depends more on the wear n tear., if teeth look pretty low., a replacement is a good idea. Going to a 12" is a good too as it will give a slightly cleaner/quicker cut. The longer the bar the more the saw has to cope with. 12" is the most sort after size on an 020. Most will agree but mainly goes down to preference
  11. "Who owns Land.?" That's eeeeaaasay.!!! = LAND OWNERS of course.!!! Joke
  12. Thanks for Naming it Arbtalkers.!! Since posting this thread I've received great feed back via Arbtalk & other forms of communication. I now have a much better understanding of it's many uses., the Inventor (The late Walter Sylvester) & How much this device changed the safety of miners. Walter saved an unimaginable amount of lives through inventing this device. A great primitive invention that works so well an unknown collegue went to America and stole the invention as Walter only patented it here in the UK. (1895) A Very impressive bit of kit I think you'd agree Arbtalk. Since it's an Artifact the National Museum of Mining in England has been notified of it's existence and were shocked one is still in Public Possesion. A member of the Historian Guild will be contacting me tomorrow about the piece for more info., exact date it was made., etc. "A fine piece of British Ingenuity"
  13. @Eldon: Understand what you meant bud .. Same time it's like all manual tools under 'stress's' .. Let it go / momentarily have a lapse of concentration and an accident is going to be inevitable. Wouldn't like a slap on the cheek off of one of these levers.!! Looks like it could take someone's eye out
  14. Thanks Couldyajust .. That article is tops mate.!!
  15. Brilliant stuff lads Thank you .. Arbtalkers Never fail to impress.!! Wouldn't like to see it abused as could see it flying off and cause some damage. It pulled a fairly new JCB out of a 8ft overflow Ditch.., with EASE. The farmer had it off his Dad., his Son used it with me & months later I'm still shocked it can still pull as good as new.!! The pictures doesn't give the real scale of how big it really is. The Arm is probably 1.5ft long roughly 80-100kg ... Long Hook & Chain about 8-10ft long & 100 - 150kg maybe more. All in all its fairly weighty Don't know what to do with it as I don't have a use for it even as a decor piece (Haven't got the space) .. Any suggestions.?
  16. Pic of the Block head itself. Can't find any other stamps on it. All I know is it can still winch up / pull tonne-age.
  17. Hello Stubby., That's what the Farmer called it 'a Winch' .. I know it's not which is why I've posted for it's proper Name., Use etc. Crank.? Block.? It's so old & rare I can't I.D it off the Web bud. Ebay popped up and it isn't a help either as there isn't a single item that resembles this one. 'Scratchy head time' haha.
  18. Putting this out to the Older Gents or Arbtalk but any help would be appreciated as always. A few months ago I helped a local farmer pull his Tractor out of a Ditch with it ("It'll pull a house down I bet'ya youngen.,"). As a thank you gesture he gave me some old Vintage Farming bits and bobs including an old 4.5- 5ft Felling Saw (Which I'm keeping as decor piece) and this Huge Old Vintage Winch-Thing I've tried the internet and as usual it's a bit on the poor side for information except giving a rough date of when it was made (1901 - 1931). For the little I know about it I can't find out much more without knowing exactly what it is. It still works but is just a Workshop Space Invader atm. So Fellow Arbtalkers & Veterans .. Please help name my old piece
  19. Local Work only .. Please stop asking me to get the lad to go to East London or further.! This post clearly states for West London work .. Time wasters need not ring.!! "Thick / just that desperate.?"
  20. Just received my Zubat 330 & Sawpod .. Thanks F R Jones and Son
  21. Has own Basic Climbing Kit .. & .. PPE Groundsman Gear .. PPE .. Own Saw Based near Uxbridge., West London. Call Drew for immediate response: 07932859805 Or simply PM for General Enquiries. Cheers
  22. I'm after what the post suggests .. Looking for Weekend work in West London: Hillingdon., Hounslow., Hayes., Harrow., Middlesex., Ealing & Brent. Am able to do all Domestic tree work., Have all relevant tickets., 1st Aid., Saws., Climbing Kit and Two immediate bodies to start with. Recently been going to a pub to take down a Large Ash (cut & stack job) but after completion., looking to try get some extra work in during the Christmas and New Year Holiday. Please call Drew: 07932859805 for immediate response / Simply PM me and I'll reply asap. Thankyou
  23. Really Heavy fuel consumption.!! (Or is that between you two.?) Down these ways you would struggle to find anyone paying £160 per day doing thinning work if your saw uses that.!! Jackalope been round the houses by the looks.. Them prices mate are much more realistic.!! I pay £100 a day top end for months worth of work .. Shorter jobs is £125 depending on skill, experience and tickets. If someone wanted £160 a day., down here., probably be laughed at with a prompt hang up or door shut in your face. Them prices are Steep to say the least lads fp.
  24. Think we've gone abit too into this gents .. .. Thread says "Hand Cutter Rates". Maybe just purely trudging it to do the thinning.?, easier work perhaps.?
  25. Tidy. Hope my body lasts til then.! Be a happy, shocked larry if it does.. Lid off to you sir. Just you made it sound like your ancient haha. 'In my day'. Lol £60 for a rookie sounds fair. That green you'd probably need to supply everything kit wise .. Took a lad on for 10 hectre clearance, £70per., fresh out of college., Wasn't that long ago we decided to take a gamble with the 'Eager Beaver' and its paid off for him 2yrs later the lads still here., thank the stars.! He was happy to be working let alone getting a wage., doing what he wanted n we got on well., he fit in with us just fine .. Bumped him up to £80- then £90. Skill, persistence, punctuality and pure grit is rated highly in my book. Rates is still an easy way for the employee to benefit from pay rises, rather than a slow hourly surely.?
