  1. 090 s are awsome power heads( i had 3 wich where all stolen )
  2. Poplar regrowth can be reasonably " rippy " side cut lightly , just bark , watch the old cut points but the regrowth is actually pretty strong . When assesing a tree to be climbed think of the last extreme wheather , that tree has undergone ( doesnt work so well with storm damage ) but eh .
  3. I presume this is for wedge banging up a tree ... maybe a traditionl hammer just a bigger pall peen ( no sharp edges ) and drill a hole and starter cable loop ?
  4. At what point is heat assement "the " issue ?
  5. Does this not greatly increase the risk of spiking into opposing limbs feet etc. ?
  6. Honey Brothers used to do the conrcete thing , and im glad u saw that spike ...
  7. When climbing sappy trees or Seqoidendron giganteums i would use a cambium saver at top and carry a few over long prussick loops with 3 way twist lock binas each and try to keep rope off bark , and use an extra loop in my prussick when only on my camium saver ( due to so little friction ).But u can change that as friction builds up through running the rope . The same techinque can also be used in some nasty bits in all other works .
  8. Jack Kenyon of Merristwood designed a simple thingy to do this . I dont know if it was ever commercially available though .
  9. lol im actually impressed.....and for me ( the man who talks a good job is alot )
  10. That is a good reductoin ,,,, i would be proud to say it was mine.
  11. if ure use stuff proffesionaly ... just buy the best from a good suupplier ,,,, never scrimp ( i used to have two pairs of spikes ( i was useless with both )) but never scrimp on yer gear
  12. Poplar is the most resilient timber when dried ( makes awsome lorry beds ) it also becomes alot stronger when dried ... b ut id be planking cedar thuja oak ash and cuppressus ( awsome for linen cupboards ) hey but what do i know
  13. lol climb fruit trees ,, or a salix as it will help with the general headache
  14. Just find a screw that will fit ( you could force a slightly larer thred into it or glue a rod in there ) .. in my opionon the fixed straight head is the best lighter and doeasnt catch on stuff.
  15. As far as second hand saws go the bigger the better ( as the get used less ) .. ive had 2 huskies a 266 and a 268 xp both where exceptional saws .. used bigger huskiesw but in my humble opion they wernt worth the space they took up.. and again in m opinion when a saw need it crankcase opened its all over ( less power etc etc ..)just think of man hrs lost for unreliability .. when i was climbing id burn through a 20 in approx 10 months ( a few lasted longer ) but for me the newer saws always helped me ern. this is why id stick to one make and use the old ones for parts ..rember when i started it was like the old metal 20s then straight to a 56 then 76 then 90 ( when my 2 90 s where stolen in a burglary i was almost in tears ( they both had six foot bars )( ilost approx 10 k in saws on the first break in )
  16. Ive already been the walking dead ... didnt like it much co now im back.
  17. try large plant pots they are tough ressilient and come in a multitide of sizes I use one for my kit and for everything else when one site
  18. lol but time is measured in light... and grav lensing affects the path route etc etc ... so ultimatley what is measurably infintae could fit into a match box....( rember residiual imagry )
  19. Did u know that long term exposure to adrenalin can also have major draw backs upon ones health .ie organ shrinkage and skin problems ( due to re rooted blood flow ). To be totally honest i used to have a really bad coke habit .. it got worse and worse ( ive kicked it now but when it was active i was a idiot and it started to reflect in my work etc etc... i was stuck in a living nightmare ( wich cost me fiscally prolly a house ) . it lasted approx 5 yrs from start to finish maybe a tad longer but , before you roll up that note think of your friends lovedones and work mates , carreer , life ( not just yours but the ones around you also ) when i was at my worst i was a total ass, i just wasnt me but a man thinking olny of his next line ( it also caused me to use other drugs at increasing rates ( darn ive always loved a smoke )) but drink etc etc. it just becomes a downward spiral . Class "a "s really do affect who and what you are. Its not easy for me to admit this but thats part of being over it , and im totally fully glad i am and can start sorting the crap out ive left behind me . i know i made a jolly before on this thread but .. it all starts off as fun and ends up in a nightmare with u walking to work and your dealer driving a brand new top of the range bmw around. Focus on your goals and loved ones and friends , engoy a toke , but remember as a human ( wich i hope you aare ) your just a pile of delicatley balanced chemicals , sat in some bag.Plz learn from what i did wrong .. im still pivcking up the peices now after a 7 yr holiday ( not prison an actual holiday ).
  20. ps also as a result of it .. you also get residual imagery so lol what am a looking at agian.
