  1. Hello About 5 years ago I ripped out old oil boiler in my house and replaced with new efficient oil boiler plus boiler stove in living room coupled to storage tank in attic. Since then I've only used about 600litres of oil. I've heard conflicting reports regarding whether I could get my system approved as historic install allowing me to claim domestic RHI. Does anyone know where I could get a definitive answer on this? Thanks in advance
  2. I work with few companies out on the islands and visit often, fact the traffic cops/vosa etc have to come over by ferry with resulting early warning alarm seems to work well 53p for red here
  3. Fair points Jules but does the "ignorance is no defence" rule not kick in at some point?
  4. Jim at Riko also has good value grab/rotator packages available
  5. Thanks all for informative responses as always, all very interesting and good to know. To help clarify re system the crane control levers in cab are mini hydraulic valve blocks which in turn are connected to bigger valves (as per treequips post above). There are also two buttons with electrical connections on tops of levers. To switch control to processor I put foot on switch and the crane levers now work the processor valve block. How engineer managed that when it's a hydraulic system is beyond me. I have every faith he'll sort out the issue with valves not fully engaging, I was just curious as to what issue was and also a touch impatient, I won't touch anything 'till hear back from him! Thanks again for all informative responses
  6. OK thanks again. I don't envisage any trouble with engineer making adjustments, was just curious if something simple as I'm not really 100% sure how servo system works. When it's all pipes and no electrics I still can't get my head round how pressing a switch changes flow from one valve block to another!
  7. OK thanks for that Treequip, I was hoping would be something simple like that. Does it matter if double acting functions and adjustment is what is required? Maybe best that I don't interfere with servos until I speak with chap who put system together!
  8. Hello Hopefully someone who knows a little about hydraulics can answer a query for me. I picked up processor from engineer today and it works grand when empty but once loaded with a tree it becomes clear that there's a lack of pressure/flow as the movements slow right down. The valve block which controls processor is servo controlled and it looks like there's not enough pressure being applied to the relevant valve block function - the levers are not being fully engaged. When the levers are fully engaged manually there is plenty of flow & pressure to machine but via servos the levers are only engaging about two thirds. So... Is it easy to turn up the pressure being applied to valve functions by the servos? Hopefully I can catch up with engineer on Monday but thought I would ask here in the meantime. Hopw that makes sense and thanks in advance for any info
  9. That's a 5/6 ton trailer... And that's at a push.
  10. Bear in mind also that you'll pay again for this when you go to renew your insurance. I'm sure there's meant to be bit of leeway so that you're not penalised for having "only" three points, in my experience that's not the case and having any points means your insurance premium will increase.
  11. Yes will be fine through crane controls, will work it in small job and see if anything needs tweaked. If get enough work I'd consider converting it to hypro processor with felling head .. I like simplicity though!
  12. Visited Australia many times - great country! NZ likewise One trip to Aus I was at basketball game and I saw them passing kids by hand up a seating level. Ie bottom level guy grabs kid and hoists up to full reach, punter above reaches over barrier, grabs kids hands and hoists them up. Job done in 5 secs with no drama and no bullshit! My Aussie friends tell me that PC and regulation is creeping in there too though
  13. If a row of levers then that's same as my Kesla valve block, to switch to electrical lever control I needed new valve block plus other kit and that's where economics start to go awry. YJC tapped into servo system for crane so now I push button and crane levers work the Kesla.
  14. Awful news, hope he's insured .. Though that's not the point Edit - Similar has happened near me couple times with trade vans in village getting done over, police actually caught culprits and both times it was East europeans. In recent times it seems to be houses getting done over (smaller higher value goods?) and no one being caught.
  15. Ok that makes but more sense Aic! Might need few days cutting a week next year Central Scotland - and I'll pay more than that! Got your info saved
  16. I quite fancied the Kesla one lever control for processor but costs were prohibitive, I meant to ask John if we could adapt a matbro or equiv joystick
  17. The people in this forum who jump headlong into compliance (at great cost) and then boast about it always make me wonder - why do the Brits not push back against unnecessary legislation the way our continental cousins do? I checked machine on Friday and seemed grand, will take bit of getting used to working processor through crane controls but the stroke processors need time and patience anyway! JC done bit of fabrication work for us over the years and always comes back stronger than it went in
  18. Re original post if you fancy it then go for it, if not for you then don't comment and less of negativity re minimum wage and so forth. Aic - how can you work for £170 a week, £35 a day in my arithmetic? (5 day week) And you're out with your costs for running a car too!
  19. Just a stroke processor (same as you had) that he's fitted to small forwarder I've got. They're not cheap but you know it'll be done right and built like a tank I've no idea re 7.5t regs but the less crap stopping people from working the better
  20. France and Italy ahead of UK I'd say. Food, lifestyle, weather and don't give two hoots about EU paperwork where we pile in full steam enforcing it.
  21. Sounds good, the less bureaucracy freeing up people to work and generate cash the better. On completely different track I've got machine coming back from JCC next week, once working I'll post some pics.
  22. Well you can't of course but rules are rules. I'm not familiar with rules for power station chip but demonstrating sustainability usually means FSC certification... And that requires all sorts of crap. So legislation created to prevent illegal logging of rainforest severely hampers UK forest management and ties it up in layers of bureaucracy.
  23. Whether tree surgeon woodchip is genuinely sustainable or not is irrelevant. What is important is whether full chain of custody, woodland plan etc etc etc can be demonstrated and appropriate paperwork issued.
  24. Ok thanks for this, learn something every day. Currently got couple of 560xpg's so next time they're out I'll pop covers off and have a look. I assume wire to carb will be fairly obvious and if I disconnect it then it won't affect heating the handles?
