    Jeez relax, was just tongue in cheek posting while I was enjoying a cup of tea in the woods! And if it's any help to best my knowledge a cube bag is 100cm x 100cm x 100cm though there will be some bulge/stretch.

    Forget doing it to get firewood quality timber to roadside, as Chris says above the £45 price is for artic loads of straight processable timber. If the timber is millable and you can get loads together in same area then you could make it work with any firewood simply a small extra

    Changed from 7 to 8 tooth last night but today I've noticed the bar is hot, I'm running 15" 3/8. Turned oil to max but bar is still hot, any ideas why this might be? It's cutting lot faster obviously although doing sycamore today instead of usual softwood so not had chance to do like for like comparison. I didn't add extra link to chain as it fitted, whether a new chain without extra link will fit is another matter.

    This sawmill does full length trees. Greenheart up to 22m but Douglas only up to 12m so there will be a reason for that, possibly just logistics for moving it against value http://www.aitkenhoward.co.uk/product/douglas-fir/

    6 wheeler with trailer would be my suggestion, loads of 24t and for any tight spots you can drop trailer and run load out to it then go back to load unit again. I don't think you can run a lorry part time though, the costs are such that it needs to be earning its keep all the time.

    I run 560 15", 365 18" and 576 24". Of those the the 560 needs different bar and I'm sure some of the chains need different number links too compared to same bar size in large mount, if I can simplify things by replacing the 560s with 562s then I'm happy with that. I also run forwarder and processor so have tools/spares in truck for those too.

    The banks shares will be sold at some point and the bail out repaid. Incidentally the bailout was years ago but govt is borrowing still increasing every month to tune of nearly £10 billion. That's an additional £10 billion borrowed every month over and above our already absolutely massive debt... And the left wing parties want to borrow even more! The country has massive problems and obsessing about bankers isn't going to solve them.

    Our next saws will be 562s for simple reason of bigger bar mount. It's a total pain having one set of saws taking different bars

    Fair point about keeping the tape as a refill as always need to have a spare to hand. I wouldn't open the case though, that spring is just desperate to get out!

    Not quite sure how you can say that, it was the most recent general election and one which resulted in our current govt. And when Sturgeon references Tories only having one MP it is results of that election she is referring too.

    Ok thanks for extensive explanation. My machines don't do a lot of hours so I may look at using redline next time I plan to do service, I'd be interested in seeing what price can get it in direct from the states... Or Continental Europe. I know UK operating costs are ridiculously high but I've started sourcing parts from Europe as much cheaper in most cases

    I've mentioned this before but the "there's no Tories in Scotland" is a bit of a myth and is simply due to boundaries and the vote being split. Historically Scotland used to vote Tory and for example in last general election the SNP were only 79,000 votes ahead of the Tories. To put that in perspective that's less than 3% of all votes cast in Scotland from a total of 2.5 million. When sturgeon starts her rant about Tories having no mandate in Scotland I always wish someone would challenge her using voting stats, instead of just assuming that as Tories only have one mp she's correct. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/region/7.stm
