  1. Ok thanks Steve. I should've said I put meter onto main alternator output and charge light output, nothing from charge pin and only 23.6v from main output. Is it possible to have a short with that can "burn out" an alternator?
  2. I had charge light come on few weeks ago and put volt meter onto alternator - not charging. Took it off to get repaired and after a lot of checks the repair company finally found the windings were faulty (a fault than only became apparent when it was under load). They changed windings and tested it on their rig and all good, I fitted it to machine today... Not charging. Is it possible for me to have a fault or short in wiring that is overloading and burning out the windings almost instantaneously? The repair company are going to phone me tomorrow with their thoughts, I also have a spare alternator I can fit in meantime but reluctant to do so in case I do have a fault somewhere else and knacker it also. Thanks in advance for any info
  3. That's good, glad you're sorted. I've got a spare osa 250 for parts but couple bits are out the back already Edit: In about 6 months time once I finish current/future jobs I'll probably sell my 250s and stroke processor, give me a shout if you want first dibs.
  4. That's a pain to do but hopefully that'll be it fixed once and for all. Where did you get the parts from?
  5. Try Doug Perry at cutting solutions, good prices and service. Was £122 for 700mm tct blade about 18 months ago
  6. Villagers win 30-year battle to remove 40ft hedge - Telegraph
  7. Some images, cap for scale only and not included in sale
  8. That's good point re non slip/different properties. Purpleheart weeps oil and is slippy as hell, ekki is hard as iron and has no flex so prob not best suited for lorry bed. Steve - re price it's all long lengths and offcuts so not really much use for you and turning I would say
  9. I've never heard of Kieron wood to be honest, it may be one of the timbers mentioned above (Ekki or greenheart). There's not many hard timbers imported and sawn on a regular basis.
  10. Mainly Ekki & Opepe but some Greenheart & Purpleheart in there too. If you have a stove or boiler this is the stuff to burn, it's like coal. Once customers burn it they always ask for it again. If you're a firewood merchant though you need to be geared up as it's no' for bairns!
  11. You don't get this stuff from your local mill. Only two mills in Europe saw it, the other one is in holland. It's the ultimate firewood but it's bloody heavy.
  12. Been busy today, 5 pickup loads of the offcuts into my shed, rows are two deep in pic so might manage another 5 loads to fill it to brim. If you take time stacking it you can fairly pack it in
  13. Got few lorry loads of these available from specialist sawmill, mixed loads of hw/sw, some ideal for processor as long and arrow straight others chunkier and need broken down by splitter. The hw makes tremendous firewood as not your normal species, burns incredibly hot. Sawmill located just west of Glasgow, pm if of interest. Available on an ongoing basis.
  14. It was same as S Varty's pic second post in
  15. I remember living in flat in Edinburgh which had massive spiders, you used to hear their claws clicking on the wooden floor when they were running across it - and I'm not joking! Was a tenement flat and occasionally you would hear shrieks coming from the stairwell, that was always sign that one of them was out and about saying hello to the girls next door.
  16. There was one of these round the back at Jas P's during his open day. Guessing it was a recent trade in
  17. I can't comment on the building side. Re the road I can't help but think this is a case of British mentality of gold plating regulations at expense of common sense. If there was a road in use at time of woodland TPO and this road is still there, albeit overgrown, with gate and kerbs then I don't see it being breach of either letter or spirit of TPO to cut back vegetation keep this road open. And on practical note, how can any issues be raised by any party re breach of TPO when the TO document they will refer back to clearly shows a road.
  18. If the access is marked on the TPO plan then one would think you're not in breach of TPO maintaining said access. Edit: that's just my opinion, however it would need to be a pretty mean spirited TO to take action on those grounds.
  19. I've got that sealant stuff in forwarder tyres but wasn't sure how effective it was. Went home one night with air blowing out a tyre and resigned to a lost day fitting a spare, came back next morning and it was sealed up and tyre was still hard.
  20. Ok thanks R5 What size can the tafjun do? Are the chainsaw ones (easy?) that can do upwards of 40cm any good?
  21. hope it's built heavier than a Palax, sneeze on one of those and something bends. How much is a posch 360? Was impressed by how thick the metal was on those Edit: one thing that lets the posch down is conveyor is fixed, no side to side movement like Palax or others
  22. Good video, thanks for sharing M
  23. A 205l barrel chain oil costs £1.30pl and 20l tubs of rapeseed oil from Makro £1pl, don't think you're meant to but I quite often mix them to bring cost down but still have the stickiness of chain oil. If I could find an oil supplier that would supply the sticky additive I'd be sorted and would just use rapeseed oil
  24. I go along to the Russian Embassy gig every year where they honour the Arctic convoy veterans, the Russians make no bones about the debt they're due and get the veterans up front for speeches, toasts and sustained applause. I'll see if can find some pics of the veterans. On a side note the Russian national anthem is pretty good and they certainly belt it out
  25. .. And what it's worth to you. Normal land prices go out the window in situation like this.
