  1. If you come off the brashmat and the ground's soft then you're going to track it anyway unfortunately, while the chains do bite in and break surface they reduce wheelspin which helps mitigate that.
  2. A set of wheel chains makes huge difference, stops all the slipping/sliding and amazing where you can go
  3. Second World War tank and anti-aircraft gun found hidden in basement of villa in Germany - Telegraph Liked the bit about chap taking it out for a run in heavy snow
  4. Merely sharing today's news which is related to the ops post, not sure why you're being tetchy.
  5. Couldn't be arsed, besides people can draw their own conclusions without any input from me
  6. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/02/boko-haram-attack-on-nigerian-village-leaves-nearly-100-people-dead
  7. I'm unclear on how sourcing your news from one website really helps you find the "real truth". And a quick skim read of the website you highlighted suggests it's not the most impartial either
  8. For research purposes only: http://www.stihl-calendar.com
  9. Well spotted Steve, I will read that section
  10. I woke up absolutely running with sweat and feeling hellish, I suspected straight away what problem was and Google truly was my friend. Got a bollocking off missus for not waking her, with hindset not waking her and not seeking medical help wasn't best idea. On separate note is it worth one of the mods creating a health section and moving threads like Lyme disease into it? Edit out all the non posts leaving purely images and advice from people such as Katie Fox medic, perhaps she'd write up tips on heatstroke also and other common ailments from working in outdoors. Ten minutes spent reading it could be invaluable
  11. I got heatstroke after snorkelling all day in hot sun, waking up very unwell and googling symptoms was a scary experience. Luckily had big bottle water in fridge and spent next couple hours sipping water on balcony outside where thankfully there was cold wind. I probably should have sought medical help though
  12. 560 is a big greedy saw for thinnings, that's where a 550 would've came into its own
  13. Luxury supercar fleet seized at Welsh travellers camp - Telegraph
  14. 3m softwood pricing is actually consistent up here, simply relates to how far from the chip and pulp producers in central belt you're located Edit: I do think hardwood prices may come down a bit.. Though we don't have many sources of decent processor grade here
  15. Flying 5ft circular saw tears through Chinese man's car on motorway - Telegraph
  16. Spotted this at JCC during week, looked a handy bit of kit
  17. If the OP had said something along lines of "I've got couple elm trunks and I want £500 each" then I'd see your point. Instead he asked "any idea what they're worth", so there was really no need to go off on a irrelevant rant. One of the benefits of arbtalk is it's a medium to exchange information, share resources and seek advice. That's what the op was doing
  18. I don't really see what mobile's gripe is, in fact his post is nonsensical. All the OP is doing is offering raw material, the additional costs are the concern of the purchaser. The OP says "few elms" so more than one trunk possibly
  19. There was holder in back of Jas P Wilsons yard at his recent open day.
  20. Have you tried contacting head office to see if they can help. If not ask for list of dealers, some of them around Europe may have an A60 breaking. http://www.max-holder.com/en/company/max-holder-gmbh/made-in-metzingen/ Hope you find something Edit: they have list of forums for holder owners/aficionados: http://www.max-holder.com/en/company/veteran-vehicles/
  21. I spoke too soon... Straight from Pravda: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1282333/Leopards-big-cats-ARE-loose-Britain--just-dont-tell-soul.html
  22. Old Man found this today in head of a small leaning spruce that had to be made safe. The rabbit was still warm but the chick underneath was dead, some kind of predator* hoarding food is the only reason I can think for this. * Leopards drag their catch up trees though to best my knowledge none have been recorded in central Scotland
  23. Ok will do thanks. It's fairly old forestry machine and it's not unknown in these machines for a sudden jolt to mean wires get nipped against cab or chassis. I'll try find time over weekend to investigate a bit, thanks again for your time
  24. Yes the charge wire was still connected to charge pin on alternator when I tested it. The charge light came on when I slid off a stump and machine received quite a jolt. I could swap alternators to see if fault def in alternator or in wiring elsewhere, just concerned that if is wiring awry then I may cook another alternator.. If this possible.
  25. I've not had batteries off Craig, just the alternator as when light first came on I put meter on alternator terminals and was only 23v
