  1. There is an epoxy for fixing plastic fuel tanks. I've never tried it but since so many vehicles now use plastic tanks I guess it must work.
  2. I found the same issue while trying to pdi a 435 that just wouldn't run properly. I found no mention of a new tool so I gave up and it's sitting on the workbench gathering dust
  3. I wasn't having a dig at you I was just saying don't worry about which is the best oil, just use a decent one, mix it correctly and don't let it hang about for too long IMO. I think it's a good thing to bring these subjects up even if they have been gone over in the past as you never know what someone else can bring to the table or what new information and/or new products are available.
  4. There have been more than a few 'which oil is the best' topics over the years. I wouldn't get hung up on it tbh. If you're using a semi synthetic be it Stihl, Husqvarna or another reputable brand then I don't think you can go wrong. Just mix it as per the instructions and more importantly don't have it sitting about for more than about a month.
  5. If your fuel pipes are all on the right way around, the intake manifold is fitted correctly and isnt split then it could be the little white plastic insert is missing from the intake manifold. It is this piece Collar 3- Echo CS-2511TES SKYLANDEQUIPMENT.COM Replacement Collar 3 to fit the bellows intake for the chain brake for the Echo CS2511TES chainsaws. FITS MODELS... It keeps the impulse hole open, which is what operates the fuel pump inside the carb. If you are giving it a good pull over with the choke on and the plug is bone dry you need to check those parts and and maybe strip the carb. Just check the fuel pipe from the primer bulb to the carb isnt pinched i.e routed the wrong way.
  6. Have you checked to make sure that it isnt something simple like the HT lead shorting out? Ive seen it on a few of the big husky saws, and some of the smaller ones, and some of the strimmers.
  7. As spud says that is a bit of a mess. The 260 is a good saw and since you're looking at £700+ plus to replace it it probably is worthy of a repair imo. Just out of interest, has anyone had any luck in welding chainsaw crankcase's?
  8. Have a check of the metering side of the carb, the cover has four screws. Pull the cover off and see if it's full of fine sawdust. I've seen this before and the sawdust was making it over fuel.
  9. If you don't mind, let me know your thoughts on using the 300. We've had a few a people who have side stepped the big battery due to balance of the machine. There is a new version of the 540I due out this year along with the mk3 petrol version. This year being 2025, obviously
  10. We also get the odd diva flounce into the shop from time to time. I can't say anything as I probably do use the word mate far too often.
  11. That's a bit strange. Is it the coil breaking down or as adw says is it the wiring rubbing on the casing?
  12. Iirc, haix use the best/highest level of gortex in their boots.
  13. Is it going into a top handle?
  14. I remember those days. Imagine trying to get away with that in this day and age! 😃
  15. Yes it is a fair bit of a problem. I had a look at when we last had some pro husky batteries in stock, it was last June! I also know that we had some on order before then that haven't arrived yet. That's not to say that there aren't some coming into the country as we may be further down the waiting list than other dealers. But it does show that there can't be many batteries rolling off the production line that's for sure.
  16. Not good from stihl UK as I think they are out of stock until next month. We still have some available and I guess other dealers will have stock too, that's in regards to the ap300/500 S batteries. You want to get the S series of batteries or you won't get max power.
  17. Chris must have packed that one and scoffed the other sweets!
  18. You do know that I'm a scouser, right? In regards to your other post about planning that's a definite yes. Nobody, as in the manufactures, seem to have a clue as to when things may go back to some kind of normal. The most commonly used 15/18" bars and chains have been in and out of stock with all the major manufactures for months, it's worth having a spare or two in the back of the van. That's not a sales pitch it's just a bit of helpful advice. Batteries same advice, files and oils not really a problem the same goes for spare parts. Although we have seen the odd spare part out of stock it usually hasnt been for more than a couple of weeks. Machines, well not many people are going to rush out and just buy a saw as a backup but they probably have been the most out of stock item bar none. I replied to an earlier post about the 592, we have probably had 4 or 5 enquiries this week about them so if you really need a machine don't hang around waiting for a dealer to get it in, phone around even if you have to pay a bit more as none of us know when they will be available again.
  19. Around £1200 Inc the vat depending on bar size, definitely no stock left and I don't know when we well be getting anymore unfortunately.
  20. The switching off after a coupe of seconds was definitely a concern I had when we first got our hands on the saw, I thought that it would really piss people off. I did ask one of the lads and he said yeah it's a bit of a pain but then he just banged on about how great the saw was. I do think that it would be better if it stayed live for a bit longer especially if the chain brake was engaged, I don't see why it couldn't stay live for say 5 minutes in that state!
  21. Thanks to all for the feedback. From what I gather we seem to be doing the right thing, if we could allow pre orders with a reasonably accurate eta then that would be a goer. Unfortunately there is absolutely no chance of that as most manufactures are constantly changing etas or just not providing them. That's not a dig at them, it's just how it is ATM and how it's been for the last 2-3 years. In the past 95% of the time we could get supplies in within a day or so the other 4% could take up to two weeks for the uk distributor to get stock from the worldwide distributor and the last 1% was say three months max, this was usually down to waiting for production of a product. On the plus side as my post just shouts of doom and gloom there are a few manufactures that can offer reasonable etas so I think it's worth looking into pre ordering certain items but only if we can give yourselves an eta too. Once again thanks for the feedback and for using the poll. 👍
  22. I thought I would bump this thread as we have had some user feedback on the MSA 220 T. Feedback is "It's brilliant/unbelievable" No negatives yet. It seems that's its is a genuine replacement for any petrol top handle saw.
  23. This is a bit of a difficult question to ask and probably more difficult to answer as I suppose it comes down to what you need and how desperate you are for a product, so here goes nothing. Over the last couple of years we have tried to be 100% accurate on the stock levels shown on our web site (www.skylandequipment.com) OK, its never 100% mainly due to human error on our part but its not far off. This is great for customer service as you place an order and you have it within a day or two, good for us as we dont have to deal with back orders and its cheaper for us as we dont have to suck up the transaction fees and admin time if we do need to refund order due to a customer getting annoyed with waiting. The downside is that we do loose sales because you cant, ATM, order an out of stock item from our web site so you will probably go elsewhere. So my question and the question of the poll is how often in general do you want an item to be in stock for quick delivery? We can change the web site so that you could pre order items but it wouldn't give an ETA which TBH is pointless as for the past 3 years ETA's from most manufactures is hit and miss to say the least. Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
  24. As Spud says I was looking at the staining on the gasket and also the intake boot looks wet on the last picture. He probably is right in that its just excess fuel as looking again there does look like a fair bit of it on top of the crank. I always carry out a pressure/vac test before and after engine strip downs as you never know if it was a leaking crank seal which I have seen with a few 550xp saws but I dont think I have seen any on the 560. If you have a pressure tester leave the spark plug in, block the intake ports in the manifold and pressurise through the impulse hole. Give the decompression valve a little spin as this can leak slightly and cause false readings.
