  1. I used a clients 395 a fair bit in Aus and was close to buying my own... Then I used another clients 661 on a huge dead red gum. 36inch bar, and it wouldn't bog down. Yes the chain slowed down but it kept cutting. So I bought a 661 instead. Very happy with my choice too!
  2. bumpety bump bump bump, is England as quiet as Norway in July?
  3. Hi guys, I'm back in England for a couple of weeks in July, could do with a few days to pay for my trip! The dates I have are Tuesday 10th - Friday 13th, & Tuesday 17th - Thursday 19th. If anyone has anything those days please get in touch. I have my own saws, rigging kit etc. Cheers, Chris
  4. My mrs (norwegian) says skog means the woods so skogsarbetare means wood worker . More likely to mean forestry type work
  5. There are actually plenty of trees i found once i got there. However wages for a climber were piss poor so i ended up working as a labourer for a landscape gardener
  6. Hi I have had a cancellation as such I have the full week available next week (potential to start this week also). Im based in Amsterdam but happy to travel to anywhere within reason / affordable flights. My parents live in Tunbridge Wells area in UK so work in that area I can probably do without needing accommodation. Anywhere else in UK / Europe il need accommodation provided, or if not I'll have to charge accordingly. I've been climbing for the last 7 years including the last 3 as a freelance climber. Im a good safe operator capable of anything required. I was based in Melbourne Aus the last few years and trees there tend to be bigger and harder than in Europe. I have my own basic climbing kit, however no rigging equipment or saws. Thanks, Chris
  7. 4 man crew with truck and chipper in Melbourne is $3k - $4k a day. I think prices are slightly lower in Qld.
  8. why would an 8m x 4m bit of fake grass cost 1500gbp? Get a quote to supply it & replace yourself im sure it would cost a fraction of that
  9. Can you get it in Australia do you know? Im currently working in Amsterdam and here in Netherlands any business is required by law to use aspen. I believe private users can still use 2 stroke.
  10. Does anyone use / are electric trailer brakes legal here? They are standard in Aus. With an override switch in towing vehicle to manually apply trailer brakes without touching vehicle brakes. Easy way to pull yourself up if you start snaking.
  11. You could... uhm.... continue on your way & not take anything off the land?
  12. Beadell Tours - CURRENT 4WD VEHICLE PAYLOAD COMPARISON
  13. This is solid advice.... anybody else have any more arb related advice??
  14. Hi guys having been based in Melbourne for the last 7 years I am now moving to amsterdam for a few years, does anybody have any contacts / tips / advice for working in Amsterdam or the netherlands in general? Many thanks
  15. was it?
  16. worth a read http://vtio.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Working-the-Angles-i.pdf
  17. The enforcement officer told me that the person who has the saw in his / her hands is the person who they will fine. Not the business owner. Not the tree owner. Not the supervisor.
  18. What i mean is I would tell the guy im subbying too that he has to pay the fine. if he refuse then so be it but I would never work for him again.
  19. what isnt?
  20. Here in Vic its not Tpos but certain councils have restrictions on removal of trees / vegitation . Varies from council to council. Anyway I was told by a council enforcement officer once that it is the person with the saw in their hand who cops the fine. Of course in the situation described above I would pass the fine onto whoever I was contracting too. Its really not practical for a subbie climber to be checking the council restrictions every day / job they go too. That responsibility lies with the person doing the quote in my opinion
  21. theyre a great saw but 90% of my work these days is removals. Yeah i have about $10 000 AUD in equipment plus a ute
  22. im a contract climber i have a 201, 450 & a 661. cant see why you would need that many saws ^^^
  23. 661 is a beast. Iv used both 395 and 660 for years, was in the market for my own larger saw. Was going to get a 395, then I used a 661 belonging to a client. Had a 36inch bar on it, cutting dead red gum (very hard wood) & the saw refused to bog down. Very torquey. So i bought a 661. I will say it takes a few tanks of juice to come good. Tunes itself over the course of a few tanks i think
  24. Surely any contractor within Norway would be able to apply? For jobs like that people tend to travel and stay in hotels...
  25. ^^ none of this is relevant as he self employed and working as a contractor. so do as you wish Woodworks. I'm a contract climber and I charge hourly rate with min. 6 hour charge... I never deduct for lunch. Dont normally take that long to be honest.
