  1. the 2nd one does look poplar like - a hybrid perhaps
  2. that's a swearing job for me - if you have the chance of another well placed limb, use a 2nd anchor point - but make sure your rope is long enough.
  3. Hi Sadie, The decay in the trunk is of most concern here. If left the tree will continue to grow until there will be too much stress on the tree and there will be a failure at its weakest point. Considering its position this should not be allowed to happen in the interests of Health & Safety and to help preserve its longevity . I glad you like the tree and both issues could be addressed by reducing it in size. As said get an Arborist to inspect the tree as this is not possible from what can be seen from the armchair. 11. as Beechwood said - kill the suckers in situ - come back next year to see the result - any new suckers then re apply, paint them with neat glyphosate - don't forget disclaimer.
  12. ive applied glyphosate to freshly cut black and white pops - a good dose was given and they suckered everywhere some coming up through tarmac. I used to put a disclaimer with the quote to account for the possibility of such a scenario
  13. Yes its quite intensive- you have done surveys - that helps. It also helps if you have read Shigo and Matthech, good fungal Id, and a few years experience in the industry. If you hold the above criteria and have the academic ability of a level 3 nvq then you should take it.
