  1. Is there such a thing as ringless honey fungus? genuinely interested to know

  5. Wearing my bright florescent coat and holding my range finder for measuring tree dimensions. I was next to a road - the drivers thought I was the old bill with a speed camera so I thought I would have a bit of fun. A guy was working briskly along a path, I pointed the rangefinder at him and said "can you walk a little slower sir" - and he did!!! . I told him the story and he thought it was hilarious.

  9. getting one is worth a thought - at a utilities meeting a few months ago - someone somewhere had hit a LV cable in the utility arb world. As said, gradually more and more are going underground. I wonder how many accidents it will take before the arb industry take note.
  10. Gradually more and more electric cables that run along our streets and country lanes are being put underground. I was wondering do any of you who do stump grinding, carry a CAT scanner to avoid a possible dangerous and expensive encounter.

  13. not looking good - have you got a probe to test the extent Of the decay?
  14. check under the bark for black "bootlaces" or white a Mycelium sheet - any presence of either would be consistent with honey fungus. are there any other trees or shrubs nearby with these symptoms - are there any old dead stumps nearby - the disease can spread from infected hosts through the ground.
  15. Are there any other brackets situated around the base of the trunk or are they localised as shown in the pic.
