  1. Straight out of the advertising brochure..... I think the ad agency needs to be fired! Be just as well using a pair of milk bottles if all you want is a couple of yards away! You could almost TOUCH it let alone tactical survey 🤪
  2. Holy crap! Never jumped static line so not sure what the cut away / reserve drills are on a combat jump but I have had a main chute failure from free fall and successfully deployed reserve and landed safely.... This guy was lucky to survive! British parachutist plunges 15,000 feet before crashing through roof of California home in 'miracle' landing WWW.GOOGLE.CO.UK 'It's amazing, he missed the counters, appliances, everything,' says witness after soldier on training exercise survives fall
  3. Not with standing the possible structural issues for the tree (which is just a guess from the distant picture and what I thought might have been the reason for removal) have you even considered retention? A crown lift and pull back from the eaves - nice tree.
  4. An 'engineer' has flagged it.... OK 😂 sorry, shouldn't laugh but can't help myself! "Engineers" are wired differently to 'normal' folk. You'd be much better served getting a reputable arb consultant / decent tree company to have a look at it - unless you just want it gone and that's that.
  5. The local lodge black ops team will have been put on immediate readiness - I may be off line for a while.....
  6. Whilst we’re in the bounds of wild, unsubstantiated speculation I’ll have a punt.... What if estate owner is a senior figure in the trouser leg funny handshake brigade and there is a historic persecution of anything that presents any real or imagined threat to the obscene practice of raising dumb birds that will boost the ego of inadequate morons with shotguns and, since this single tree was identified as a the only priority requirement for immediate felling, and the daft labourer was despatched as the fall guy, and the Chief constable is a grand moose and a regular lunch guest at said estate and intervened so as to avoid any heat or light falling upon the real guilty party....? Like I say, just a wild unsubstantiated stab in the dark. Funny how it seems (to me) to have a greater ring of credibility than the report.....
  7. I’m sure we’ve had this thread - or something very similar - before. I can remember posting this before but couldn’t find it. It popped up on FB ‘memories’ today. Quethiock village 5 years ago and Quethiock village last week where Cormac are STILL acting like morons (as described earlier in the thread)
  8. Tiny hands! Jeremy’s chopper must have looked enormous with those little pinkies wrapped around it.... 🤮
  9. This may be of interest to someone. A friend of mine has 2 tickets for the Final at Wembley on Sunday ⚽️⚽️⚽️ He paid £300 each including accommodation but he didn't realise when he bought them months ago that it was going to be the same day as his wedding! If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place!! It's at Liskeard Registry Office, at 4pm. The bride's name is Sarah. #itscominghome 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
  10. Can’t answer for NI specifically, but hourly rate is for idle ‘gardeners’ that ponce around all day pulling weeds and LA workers stretching ½ a days job into a weeks work. They are restricted by the rate as to how much they can earn so there is no incentive to graft harder. Price the job at what it ‘should’ be (varies anyway but you have to set your own levels), then crack on and get it done in quick time so that you can either do another or go home - again, as suits. Starting with hourly rates is fraught with hassle Eg - when does your first hour start on arrival at job site, when the saws start or when you start prepping your gear, load the vehicle and drive to job site? What happens if you want a brew or a sandwich - customer not paying you to eat. When does your ‘hour’ stop? When the tree hits the deck, when you leave job site, when you get home or after you’ve cleaned and sharpened? Probably wouldn’t even talk to someone that wanted hourly rate. If I did it would simply be job price divided by the number of hours expected to take + at least 30% for hassle factor.
  11. Oh don’t start saying how shit things are here compared to Sweden, Germany, Swaziland etc.... Youll get Big J on his industrial soap box!
  12. Cormac at their very best today. No pic but I’ll try and set the scene.... We’d just finished on a job in the back country (single track, over grown hedges, grass in the middle of the road, normally see no more than 2 horses and a goat per day) when we happened across a Cormac van stopped in the lane all lights blazing but like the Mary Celeste..... Mate in front stopped, I couldn’t see what the problem was but eventually got out to walk up and see what was going on. I said have you spoken to them? No he said. I squeezed past the Cormac van and 20m up the road there were 2 herberts in the ditch clearing land drains. Queue of traffic waiting to get past I said. They BOTH packed up. Loaded their gear in the van and reversed 50m to let us pass. Not really a sign related post but pulled my chain. Why did they both have to pack up and load their gear just to move the van and then both have to move back again AND with the state of the roads in Cornwall, why 2 Herberts are working in the outback on a road that’s no more than a farm track is astonishing!
  13. Stay out of Cornwall then you barstewards! ’kin nightmare every Summer 🤯 (only joking......... ....... maybe!)
  14. Agree with that! It always amazed me that the LibDum membership crucified Clegg over tuition fees. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot - he had actually achieved more than any other Lib Dem before him yet they choose to sacrifice progress on the alter of perfection. Difficult to fathom.
  15. Here's some food for thought.... 😂 Happened across this earlier and it reminded me of these earlier posts. He's got a way with words 😂😂😂
  16. Not worrying about it, just relieved we ended up with less bumbling idiot than that which may have been....
  17. Like TOs after they’ve suckled their fill at the teat of public sector CIPD 😂
  18. Cropper is refusing to send it back!
  19. I’d find a corner in Egger’s van!
  20. Dullard! You didn’t read the first post! He’s in Norfolk! That’s Eggs territory..... No good to me, any earnings would end up going up the wall!
