  1. No, not at all. I wouldn't suggest such a thing. I would however question the legitimacy of one such person claiming "asylum" or "refugee status" when they reach their country of choice. That's not fleeing danger but bandwagoning a situation in order to subvert immigration control.
  2. Touching sentimentality, worrying naivety! The contradictions within your apparent justification for sympathy are an insight to the problems of the future. (Possibly, one could say inevitably, including the potential for tanks to be rolling down a street near you sooner than you might imagine!) Importing 1000's / 10s of thousands of religiously, culturally, ethnically diverse, emotionally traumatised, physically injured people into areas that are physically, socially, ethnically, culturally alien to them is hardly a recipe for civil harmony. That you specifically highlighted the wealth and beauty of 1 particular individual is probably indicative of the haemorrhaging of the the middle classes (economic migrants) that will further delay and hinder the return of stability and prosperity to which ever region they have deserted. A desperate situation? Undoubtably. Aid necessary & justified? Undoubtedly, BUT, injected into the region or the immediately adjacent areas of relative safety, not in the form of mass relocation across many countries until the 'country of choice' is reached. You rightly highlight the 'tip of the iceberg' nature of what we are currently experiencing, and that alone should be enough to indicate the ludicrously naive and inadequate propositions of opening the borders.
  3. How much bigger has it grown since those 1930's sepia photographs?
  4. They're going to get buried for this. And I suspect they won't be the only ones at it. Interesting to think "why now", and to what end? All the "so called" experts have been on the radio today saying how they've said all along that the test is useless and open to jiggery-pokery because of the self certified regime. Where were their voices BEFORE it broke in the press?
  5. Squeeeeel lil'le piiiiiigy.....
  6. Yes, saw it too, and thought similar to yourself! I'm just happy that I roll in very different circles!
  7. You'd have to be SERIOUSLY dedicated to the revolution to want to get across that!
  8. John Major may not have seemed so bland if the nation knew he was larruping Edwina!
  9. And his ex lover given the shadow international development portfolio! There's no need to worry about hair brained public sector capital build projects in the UK. It would all be spent in some distant banana republic!
  10. Just seen the Sunday papers.... Really? A Corbyn / Abbott love match in the 70's?? Thank the Lord there was no love child which surely would have been the....
  11. It wasn't an apple tree Gary - wrong time of year! It was a grass cut, light weed of borders and trim the bush! 5 pages of waffle with a hint of credible content (not sure that approach will pass muster next month!!)
  12. Some times it's the little things that seem to make the best impression. Just got confirmation of a job. Customer said he had other quotes, 1 from a local crew I know and respect (I told the customer if their quote is the preferred one, they'll get a good job from a pro crew), 1 from "a pair of Herbert's" (customer's own words) who wanted to turn up on a Sunday, bosh em over and take the wood, and my quote. Turns out a well spec'd quote with 5 pages of detail & pictures is more important to this customer than a fag packet, cash & firewood Sunday job with a Mole Valley chainsaw and a Halfords trailer despite the cost being considerably higher! If only these customers were more prevalent!
  13. That's exactly what they (both sides of the House) have been doing for decades Ted. Neither side had the kahoonas to make the decision and then live by the political repercussions. 1 down side to a 5 year term in office.
  14. Exactly the problem! It's of such importance that it needs the "politics" taken out of it and the best interest of the country as the focus. I guess the problem is that people have different views on what is "best" for the country. What's the saying - something like if you asked a committee to design a horse, you'd end up with a camel (or something like that!)
  15. No "unlike" from me Steve. Many of the concepts within the article I'd whole heartedly support. If only the problem could be solved with a concept paper though. How's your confidence levels for delivery? The energy deficit is pending and decades of blue & red governments have failed (or chosen to duck) the problem of setting the long term solution. Maybe the country would be better served by a cross party committee setting an energy (production / consumption / reduction) policy that would bind in whichever is the colour of the current government.
  16. Just watched it on Iplayer. Must have been a different edit from the version you watched? My condensed take on the on the English edit: Sandy Toksvig came across as sharp, smart and on trend (excluding refugee intake and National Anthem comments) Liz Truss came across as weak, dull, tired and trotting out the same old party line John McDonnell is either trying very hard to make a genuine difference or he is the most polished confidence trickster I've seen in a good while. Lady in the audience asked the question (at about the mid way point) which nicely summed this up - "are you just saying whatever you think people want to hear?") Alex Salmond similar to Liz Truss, banging the same old tired drum with nothing new or inspirational to add (thought of you when he miss quoted verse 6 as verse 4!) Tim Stanley - every word was well considered and 100% worth saying As for "bossing", the show I watched gave greatest exposure / FaceTime to John McDonnell. Let's hope it's not just a fake veneer of competence and acceptability that will be peeled back to expose the Marxist beneath.
  17. Had one this week that has built a full days work out of "can you justs!" All have been answered "yes" all will be totted up and presented as additions once the main job is completed at the agreed price. Let's see if she's quite so keen to fritter away my time and resources once the £'s are lined up next to the tasks.
  18. My favourite "comments" from within the article were.... tillythehunstill Jan 1, 2015 Love it. As sure as day follows night, another Maggie story and all the great unwashed lefties come out screeching their bile. So much so that most of their posts have spelling mistakes and/or grammatical errors. Really cheers me up to know she still gets to you. Feed the Trolls Happy New Year and MWill Jan 2, 2015 @tillythehunstill You're right if the Germans and the Italians can move on from Hitler and Mussolini we can all move on from Thatcher, onwards and upwards. Happy New Year
