  1. New LA black ops to avoid a future STAG scenario?? 😄
  2. I still think Alan Johnson would be the strongest candidate. (Glad he didn't run last time....)
  3. Corbinista's disintegration of Her Majesty's Opposition!
  4. Interesting! Police hunt tree poisoner who killed off row of century old limes
  5. Au contraire Rodney....... I can think of a slower, but equally inevitable, derailment!!
  6. That is shocking! Must be devastating. If only this type of person could get caught...
  7. Think I've peaked and started the inevitable downward slide into jibberish Bob!! The only bit I meant to say, but forgot, was than since being on the ground more than in the tree, I've come to appreciate the value and challenge of trying to be a good groundy. A good groundy is essential to an efficient and safe climber.
  8. Good question Pete. Personally, based upon the schedule and the training delivery at the time, my training experience was very positive. For myself, I set about the training progression and transition into work at my own pace and under circumstances that I chose. There was no inferred or assumed "debt of liability" to an employer for providing the "opportunity" nor did I have to work at a pace or in circumstances that were not entirely of my own choosing. Totally appreciate these circumstances are not universally available and that employers need to see a return on the investment of staff training. So to answer the question, in so far as I might be able to, I wouldn't ask a climber to do anything I wouldn't be comfortable with / capable of myself or that I thought might be beyond their capability and experience. I can only say, from my perspective, that the schedule and training delivery were highly relevant and well delivered / assessed. The problem with "incidents" is more likely to be the "human factor" rather than a systemic shortfall in the training schedule. (Not sure if that makes any sense on reflection, bit of a lager induced ramble!) There's nothing, in sufficient detail, to allow analysis. Experienced / inexperienced, pro / am, employed / self employed, fresh / tired, overworked / well supported.... If only they were!
  9. PS, 2 questions.... (1) are the current training schedules adequate / fit for task? (2) are the organisations delivering training / assessment suitably applying the schedules? (High failure rates don't make for a good business reputation as a trainer so are corners being cut, passes being awarded where perhaps they shouldn't be??)
  10. Great comments all! Harsh, self critical, honest and accurate self assessments coupled with refocusing of personal practices and recognition of pressures applied by employers. Far greater practical benefit than a desk jockey's enthusiasm for MORE paperwork and superficial amendments to training schedules which will do little to change the inherent hazards of the task or the propensity of the individual (wether through fatigue, complacency or pressure) to deviate from good work position (it's Silky Paul's sign off I think!) Slow down, be sure, be safe.
  11. Agreed! I'd suggest that his resurrection is more a consequence of the Corbyn created vacuum rather than any warmth or longing from the electorate, although there appears still to be a core of Labour MPs that hold a candle for him - Heidi Alexander seemed to be rather warm to him on C4 news at 7.
  12. Notwithstanding tin hattery, I foresee a rather more sinister potential consequence Mr E! Given the propensity for but-hurt Bremoaners to have a hissy fit, coupled with the apparent readiness of the professional protester, Starbucks anarchist, petty criminal and the ASBO underclass to jump on any opportunity for lawlessness and rioting, I'd go so far as to suggest his particular choice of phraseology could be considered as incitement to contravene the Public Order Act. To the Tower!
  13. Not managed to read it all yet, had to stop at the point where I felt quite uneasy about the potential for "grandstanding" and possibly profile raising off the back off some recent tragic events. Well, that and that there was nothing particularly inspirational or insightful in so far as i had managed to read.... https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/preventing-tree-work-injuries-dc-vickers https://www.facebook.com/drivelink http://www.drivelinktraining.co.uk/blog/
  14. Will he not just Foxtrot Oscar! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38996179
  15. Can I sneak in with a recent rainbow?
  16. Oi! That's a weeks wages Mr Rockafella!!
  17. Wouldn't that be entirely species dependant or am I misunderstanding the question??
  18. Second that (although it's gusting 30 years since I spent a lot of time round there!!)
  19. What about taking up the offer of the giant African snails? Brash pile on top of chip pile (keep the little critters warm) and let them munch their way through it??
  20. Apologies e6gS, bit of a M3nd1P5 moment! Will be sorted later! PS - it IS important! I'm building up to spend a tenner! PPS - (Mull) the baldy one with glasses was a complete mental case! But for the first time in living memory, it appeared that Aunty had paid some attention to audience composition / balance. As for the Baroness, is it wrong to be having erotic fantasies??
  21. If you're going to use it, firewood, kindling, mulch, it's not waste. It's materiel awaiting processing.
