  1. Bloody hell Mr E! Have you woken up scrambled this morning?? It wasn't directed AT you, more an overarching observation (only my observation) of how it appears that the minutest detail of Trumps behaviour is subjected to microscopic examination and criticism regardless of any precedent or previous example by others. Maybe, this is the new norm and perhaps it will raise the bar across the board and into the future. Well that'd be a good thing but, deep down, I can't help but feel the cry baby tantrums will quickly evaporate when (if) the career protestors get their favoured candidate / party / anarchy back. Peace out brother! ❤️
  2. Or..... "...Let's ignore all the personal, professional, political and moral shortcomings of the entire population of the planet whilst hypocritically focussing our entire consciousness on how many times Donald Trump chews his food....." Just a suggestion! Not proposing in any way to support "pussygate", just thinking "....Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye....." Not suggesting you have dust in YOUR eye Mull, just that the anti-trumptons, in general, seem to ignore similar shortcomings in their preferred leaders whilst seemingly preparing to spontaneously combust if Trump farts. Anyway, windy up there today??
  3. try this Gary!! 11 pages, no answer!! http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/64847-valuation-amenity-trees.html
  4. Couldn't find an image to tie in with the time of the post!!
  5. Not entirely by coincidence, I've been looking into this! Thinking about setting an ISO container underground!!!
  6. I follow your logic Roz, and see it being applied quite regularly. But it is exactly that logic which I see as the cause of the problem (in private / domestic ownership.) It's easy to spend someone else's money! Bearing in mind, some may be "community spirited" and happy to carry the financial liability for the "amenity value" enjoyed by the general population but others may be constrained by finance. What incentive is there for a private / domestic owner of a TPO'd tree to do anything other than progressive reductions, as and when necessary, in line with safety obligations / approved applications until the tree is no more than a stick? They don't have to seek permission to fell, only to undertake reasonable and diligent safety work. At some point along that line, the tree will cease to provide the necessary amenity to warrant a TPO.
  7. We'd need to get another 28 or so interested parties to make it worth while Chris. If we get half way, I'll contact the auctioneer and arrange a viewing, get some pics and work out a suitable bid limit and see if it flies.... I do like the sedan chair arrangement!
  8. Agreed Chris, but, (a) there's nothing to stop someone just keep on applying for reductions as the tree continues to degrade until it reaches a point where it is just a rotten stump and (b) if the LA were doing reviews of TPOs, wouldn't it be the case that, at the point of the review, the existing TPO tree would need to be assessed against all the relevant qualifying criteria to establish it's validity for retention as a TPO? How many existing TPO's would fail the test if reexamined today? I've found a good measure of peoples' antagonism towards TPO's is generated by LA's NOT keeping TPO's under review which, in reality, does no good for the cause of improving tree cover.
  9. Ah, the old "2 wrongs" scenario Mr E! Really, I really was only joking with the fire / liberals gag..... 😬
  10. Bit of a tangent, but if allocated a U Cat, it kind of indicates the LA are not bothering to keep their TPOs under review. If the developer was not minded to jump through the hoops seems they might have ample justification for not bothering to pre-plant.
  11. Online auctions Anyone interested in a collaborative purchase? I only want 1! Long shot, but if enough folks are interested to bid on the lot I'd collect and despatch. Reckon Jomocco would be well chuffed if we all got tooled up!
  12. You beat me to it..... I was going to post this:
  13. Just seems odd, and possibly an attempt at an administrative short cut without realising the potential consequences? Wouldn't it be "normal" to expect the condition to specify that the replacement tree should be planted as close as is reasonably practicable to the preceding tree? Not possible or practical if existing TPO tree still retains it's position and the act of felling / processing may be a threat to newly planted tree. Either the felling is justifiable on arb / risk terms and the application is approved or it isn't. Surely the condition follows permission not the other way around??
  14. Only just seen this thread, been busy ironing.... ....my black shirt? (that's a dreadful generalisation J! Although I do actually own a black shirt....
  15. Have you had a lot of rain up there TCD? Unusually, we cracked on like gorillas in the mist today and ended up PWT by 10:00! Climber had 3 changes of clothes! I just slogged on cold, wet & grumpy but, as I said to the wife, that's the first day it's rained on the school run. All our rain down here in the lowlands has been overnight, remarkably little during the day.
  16. ....enlightened individuals.....? 😂
  17. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/178844 Government Petitions.... gotta love 'em!
  18. Here you go Mr E! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/178844 I've just signed it!
  19. Makes good sense! Like it. It was like gorillas in the mist all day! Majority crown out, stem will have to wait a minute.
  20. Tim Farron to start with! ⚡️🔥💥
  21. She didn't get a hairy shirt on when Obama did it.... Nothing, nada, not a squeak! She did get a hairy shirt on when Trump did it. It must follow then that her "issue" is with Trump, not the action which both Obama and Trump have done in a similar vain. If you don't like the boss you can (a) become the boss (b) leave © suck it up. Disloyalty and double standards = get yr cards! Fair play to the Don in my book!
  22. 🔥Burn the Liberals! Burn 'em I tells ya before it's too late!!🔥 (I don't actually endorse or encourage the burning of Liberals, certainly not unless appropriately exempted by an EA D7, just thought it an opportune moment for some rabble rousing!)
  23. You would be exempt if removing an immediate hazard, but only in so far as is necessary to relieve the hazard - doesn't sound like that would fly! Or, you could claim to be a farmer, they rarely bother and FC don't do a busting lot about it. Otherwise, it's the Forestry Act for you matey as stated above - it's the LAW! (tongue in cheek!)
