  4. some thing a bit a bit different for a change more fun than carving bloody bears and owls
  5. yes we made the mistake of introducing them and it would be a far worse mistake to not make every effort to eradicate them before we lose the last of our reds. im going to now make a very controversial comment that is not intended to offend any one but im sure it will. gray squirrles are alot like the many nationalities we have allowed to move into this country pushing out the natives taking over our cities and draining all our resources whilst we "to quote the above Learn to live with them"
  6. Give it to me i have a hundred and one uses for it but im not sharing them.
  7. if you do remove it give me a shout please.
  8. i just like the grain and think it would make some nice bowls and spoons. so no im not looking for a truck load just a resonable sized log. but a tenner sounds good. is that delivered.:001_tt2:
  9. where can i get sumach wood logs
  10. my new thistle design.
  11. i think its going to be a T4 there seen to be to many complaints with the T5s it looks to me like the VW version of the landrover 300tdi vs Td5 argument. i have a budget of about £8k.
  12. lots of the ones i have been ooking at seem to be the 1.9 85 or 102 hp but chipped to be 130hp how does this effect the engine in the long run
  13. Im planning to buy a vw transporter to replace my landrover. i want a Kombi so i can fit the kids in the back and my saws and carvings in the very back. but what i dont know is weather to get a SWB or a LWB . any body know what the internal length of either is. idealy what is the length from the back edge of the sliding door to the back doors. i cant find it any where on the interweb so as usual when all else fails consult the arbtalk encyclopedie.
  14. there is already a thread on here some where on this topic

  20. Thomas (My Slovac mate) has spent alot of money on the legal / planning side of importing them and has several orders for them once he has it sorted. so that that idea is already in hand. think hes gonna make a lot o money.
  21. fantastic chair. have you been watching kevin mclouds man made home? make yourself some rabbit glue.
  22. cheers guys i think we are all thinking along the same lines. i have redone my maths and noticed i got my maths wrong i am going to use 90 4inch ( inner side) boards with a 92 degree sides. i have also been speeking to a slovacian friend whos father works in a log cabin production workshop in slovacia they can produce any thing i want out of slow grown timber and it is rather cheep. a 3 bed room holiday cabin kit is only about 10,000 euros so iv got him looking into getting me a price. will keep you all posted.
  23. got it in one. if the roof hight is 7ft in the middle this gives a floor space 9ft wide. the floor would be 3ft up in the air giving plenty o space for fire wood storage underneath. my plan is to make it 12 ft long 9 ft inside 3 ft covered veranda
  24. we have large vats at work made by a company up in the cairngorms, this is what gave me the idea of building one as a shelter. they dont have metal bands around them they are straight sided and are tensioned with steel cables with threaded ends. My thought is to use 100 lengths of wood 100mm wide on what will be the inner face then angle the 2 edges to 108 degrees which when all put together will create a circle with a diameter of just over 10 ft. i have access to a woodmizer and a multi cut industrial bandsaw thingy. the finished construction is to be turned on its side and mounted onto a rack so it will sort of resemble a gypsey caravan.
  25. the very fact that it is a dieing trade is the reason i want to learn it and as for a shelter been easyer thats no reason to build one.
