  2. Beautiful. i like the little frog.
  3. Military 1st sell these ones with the intigrated glasses
  4. what about one of those neaprean masks that all the hoodie kids wear. they have eye and breathing holes and the neaprean will help fend off any lumps that ping at your face. just search neaprean mask on ebay:thumbup:
  5. try wearing one of these bad boys i spend any where up to 10 hrs a day in one of these. ( not for carving though)
  6. Fantastic idea and very well carved. i just has a look at your FB page and the rest of your work is also very impressive.
  7. Iv just had a rake through my pictures and found this old one i did years ago.
  8. Get a Ms 181 with a 12" dime tip carving bar for starting. i used one for years and even when i moved on to a 192 i still used a 181 for teaching folk as they roll nicely from side to side making it easyer to do tip work. i now carve with a 201 its nice and light but it doesn't roll like a 181 and it was bloody expensive.
  9. I am pleased to announce the winner of my bear and hare carving was Mrs Birkett of Arbroath. Thank you to every one who bought a ticket we raised a total of £460 all of which will be going to support the fantastic aid work being done by James Doran-Webb in the Phillippines.
  10. Just an update on what James Doran-Webb has been doing. he has continued to send aid down from his island each day and now that rest of the world is finaly starting to arive with aid packages he has moved on to start rebuilding villages. he has 3 teams of guys down there working with chainsaw mills to mill up the palm trees that have been blown down so that people can start to rebuild homes with the timber. he is also trying to organise to get fishing boats back into the sea so that people can start to work and recover their lives. alls this has been organised by one bloke with the help of a couple of people whilst the worlds biggest aid organisations are only just ariving and starting to do what he was doing the morning after the disaster. i forgot to say he has been buying the stuff for his aid packages from his and neighbouring islands rather than it been shipped from europe. this means not only is the money going alot further as prices are far cheaper over there but the money being spent is going to support the local communities rather than ritcher countrys.
  11. You can pay it through pay pal iv hijacked my wife's account its [email protected] please gift the payment. Make sure you put your name up here if you send me a payment so I can write a ticket with your name on it. Thanks for your support guys. Tom
  12. Cheers for linking the photo Steve. I'm using my tablet and couldn't save it to use in my post.
  13. Hi guys I have done a carving based on the John lewis Christmas advert. I am rafflinh it off to raise Money in support of artist James doran webb' aid efforts in the Philippines. He lives over there and the day after the disaster he loaded up two trucks with aid and drove them down to the worst hit area do help. He funded the initial $2500 out of his own pocket. I can't figure out how to link the picture of the carving on my face book Page so go to tomschainsawcarvings on Facebook for details on how to enter my raffle.
  14. I do a THW but on top of each other. it looks a bit like a portcullis.
  15. I'm guessing you don't carve much. Some of the best textures and techniques are achieved running the saw on lower revs.
  16. Sorry have to disagree. I've used it for pruning and carving and I really don't rate it. It's far too under powered and vibrates like hell on lower revs.
  17. yes the sword is seperate. i used Ronseal satin Teak
  18. its taken me about 8 months to get round to starting this carving but realy enjoyed doing it.
