  1. im inthe process of putting together a starter book of basic projects will keep you posted.
  2. they are fab i love deer in fact i love deer so much i named my son Roe i once made a bird box at a country fair 15 years later it is still in my parents garden. i have made loads since and now make them with my kids. dont listen to the critics they just wish they were doing it.
  3. my carving kit contains. saw maintainance kit tape measure 1m straight edge marked every 5cm inch and half inch chistle small lump hammer mora carving knife mora tight curve hoof knife thick graphite stick for drawing lines two cans of tree marker. one red one orange. i use the orange to mark up sizes and rough shapes on my log then mark my final cut lines in red. 4ft high lift jack handy for standing up and rolling big logs. cant hook battery drill coconut bristled hand brush two big plastic (cattle lick) tubs i put a pank across them to stand on if i need a bit of hight when im carving at shows or in peoples gardens and when im finished i can throw all my off cuts in them to clear up. i think thats about all
  4. I thought it would be useful to start a thread where we can all share info and ask Questions about tools, tips and techniques. So whats in your carving kit other than your saws? do you have any handy info to help others or any Questions on carving. lets make this the one stop info shop to save trawling through hundreds of threads to try and fing an answer.

  6. i was a pest controller for 8 years if you have power to your yurts then i would suggest UV electronic fly killers also try (red top fly traps) dotted around your site you also get repelent candles.
  7. You also have to put black wheels fitted with Kuhmo KL71 tyres in 265 75 16. i got 53000 out of my last set and that was across the very worst terrain possibe and they are not to noisy on the road.

  9. Oh Help im a trend setter. my landy is LR Vasouvios Orange. the same colour as the original supercharged Rangerovers and the 2007 Lr Ltd Ed Fire and Ice Landys. Slightly oxidised farmer blue also goes very well with black, thats what my last 90 was like. i will post a pick. You may all be interested to Know I am Planning to sell my orange one as i have changed jobs and am struggling to justify keeping it ( other than the fact it looks S**t hot.) Its done less than 5000 miles since i had it built. PM me for details.
  10. what ever colour you go it has to have a black roof and black chequre kit. here is mine. i would rather walk than drive jap c**p
  11. i can prob get them for you but im in scotland. the last lot i got i think i paid £30 per ton. they were all in excess of 12" at the thin end
  12. me thinks we should change the name of this forum to bike and Gun talk. i dont know jack about bikes but i can talk guns all day. i had a big clear out recently but still have a CZ synth and stainles .22. Black synth Remington mod770 in .243. Howa m1500 with green over moulded Hogue stock in .25-06. two Webley and scott semi autos 12g and a 1903 Alex Henry side by side . I have an open FA licence which allows me to shoot any thing on anybodys land (with their permission) provided the caliber is deemed acceptable for that species. the joys of having owned a wildlife management company. to get foxes on your licence for your .22 or .17 all you have to do is have the qaurry code changed to vermin that covers just about every thing that isnt game. same goes for centerfire full bore rifles just ask for vermin and deer.:2gunsfiring_v1:

  14. that is very nice. i have never got around to doing a big deer carving yet which is kinda strange as i spent 8 years working with them and have named my son Roe. i did a coupe of little reindeer at christmas but they were only about a foot high. i love it when people post pics of things on here that i want to carve. keep up the good work tom

  16. very nice:thumbup: i have only just started making mushrooms again. i must have made in excess of 2000 of them over the years and so stopped making them for a long time. but there is just something that always draws me back to them every now and then. oh wait that some thing is people offering me money to make them.
  17. Took about an hour. it did have a ball on the top but i didnt like it so it got cut off. Monikieman im carving at the Inverkeilor Village fete a week on saterday (16th) if you are interested in coming to watch. i think there are a few other local carvers coming down to see me it would give you the chance to meet them. Also Angus chainsaw services will have their chainsaw museum there.

  24. hi dave i use ronseal deck preserve with wax in it. i got a price from travis perkins for 25ltr drum of linseed oil and it was about £130 . ouch i had planned to fill an old bath with the stuff and just dip every thing but i would need about 6 drums so thats not gonna happen.
