How to get rid of the buggers? we have a moat (I suspect therein lies the problem) and a small pond which dries out in summer. But the wood is absolutely full of them and they are really big bitey ones I am past the repellant stage and moving towards anihilation. BUT father in law has a pheasant run which encloses the moat, so any chemicals need to be bird friendly. The moat has no fish, and as its a scheduled monument we would probably not be allowed to put fish in. Besides its a bit dodgy looking so might well kill them anyway. It was overgrown and we took all bankside trees away last year, so there is no new leaf fall into the moat, and its got sunlight (well, not at the moment.....) so, what do I use? Fumigation/gas/pellets something in the water???? any deterant on the platforms of the campsite yurts/domes in the wood?? any advice would be fantastic
  2. I am a little embarrassed that my first post here is on the scrounge...... Just wondered if anyone in the forestry world out there has any woodchip which they might like to dump by the truckfull at our farm. we FINALLY have some planning permission, and we FINALLY have some funding for the work we need to do to make an educational/care farm stuff and seasonal luxury camping thing up at my partners farm but I am having a problem finding woodchip which I need to put round buildings and in some other areas. Last year we were drowning in the stuff as we had a local guy needing somewhere to dump it as he had no yard to store/burn. We used some of it and it looks like our neighbours might have swiped the rest when they dumped a load of old bits of wood and rubbish along our lane, so our source ran dry. If anyone is chipping in the area, we would be very very grateful. We are near Robertsbridge in East Sussex
