1. I saw some sold by someone of no fixed abode the other day; honestly they said 'CHAINSAW 999' on the side, wish I had got a photo obviously for the UK domestic market...
 2. If a dealer has time to ring up other dealers pretending to be joe public and report them to Stihl surely they have far too much time on their hands which could be better spent on other things? Or maybe it's a Scottish thing
 3. Thanks for the heads up We've had a few in pale blue trannys doing the sub 5mph drive by in the Ivybridge area. Been blocking some gear in and sharpening the dogs teeth just in case
 4. I always find the young lads often try to use them as a mobile CV....
 5. I once forced a lad to wear his t shirt inside out as it had his dads tree surgery business printed on it - it itched the hell out him but at least it meant anyone watching had to ask me a card. Defo something to watch out for giving away the stash willy nilly
 6. that is exactly why I'm going employed three days a week and spending the rest of the week 'looking after the children' children being logs if you are not the taxman:thumbup:
 7. Real mix of opinions, I think I'll sell some out now at a cheaper rate just to cover the lad who helps, one a day will cover it and the stockpile the rest for a rainy day. My only concern is that Beech can sleep away if left too long?
 8. about 10% I'm thinking. Only to cover chiropractor bills
 9. Fair point, only I had a pub convo with someone who said they would need an incentive to fill their store now or they might as well just wait and buy some dry gear in the Autumn. That still leaves me with about 10 ton that won't fit in my sheds. Building more sheds is not an option
 10. I have a glut of Beech after the storms most of it pretty sopping to the point where whilst splitting it you keep thinking its starting to rain. I need to get shot of a few tonne and want to sell it asap for customers to season themselves. How much discount is the norm to take into account the fact I have not got to store and handle it as many times? I was thinking of 15% off of next seasons price so not much less than what they have paid this year!
 11. Just seen they do a 72cc version with a 24": they ought to throw in a pair of chainsaw protective flip flops to go with them
 12. As Ken Bruce said this morning, will the new buyer need to pay stamp duty?
 13. I have just inherited some large beech butts and need to get the biggest bar possible, the Stihl catalogue says 25 inch max for my 441 (71cc) but having read this thread and looked around I can get a 30 inch bar to fit. Has anyone ran a 30" bar on a 71cc saw or will I be biting off more than I can chew?
 14. I'm ringing a chiropractor tomorrow as mine is giving me grief, hopefully won't be sciatica but I'm sure i'll get the 'I think you ought to take a couple of weeks off' sketch.
 15. I have a 'Stratford ecoboiler' which is the jacket type rather than back boiler plumbed into an existing open vented oil system . Highly efficient and gives us the best of both worlds - come in late and turn the oil boiler for an hour then light the fire and the boiler then kicks out as the burner gets up to heat. Chews wood but I reckon we save £800-£1k of oil a year. Would be dreadfully inefficient if I had to buy would though....
 16. Think you could pull the whole thing down the hill with the plate still on? That would be my first attempt!
 17.

Hi Barrie

Are you able to source Husqvarna pole saw spares? The model is a 325P5 x series. My local dealer have given me the wrong parts and are complete chocolate teapots.

If you can help that would be great. I am based in south devon and am willing to travel to someone reliable!

Thanks

 18. is it a Douglas? Beast of a plate
 19. This is the second one after it sat back down, sent muddy water a fair way out apparently!
 20. did it drop back down when you cut the butt? would have liked to have seen that if it did
 21. had to make do with a 441 with the 25" on. Could do with a 880 for ringing the butts up! Could always float the butts up to Somerset for you?!
 22. I love a big clean plate. Here is a couple of big Beech plates that I have sawn off today before the sap rises. Anyone else got any big plate pics?
 23. The jockey wheel on handbrake problem is a ball ache but got a feeling that its a hitch supplier problem (is it Bradley?) as come across it on lots if trailers. Ifor all the way but takes one to know one and I may look at Nugent next but the old LM105 has been thrashed for the past few years like its owner...
 24. Nice one. Some people on here need to get some New Year Resolutions in place....
 25. All in, the childrens trust has done 2.5 times better than if I had not been in the pub at 4. Ho ho ho
