  1. What in particular are you struggling with? PM me if you want and I'll try to help you over some of the hurdles.
  2. Apparently that has been an issue previously, weapons being stashed to avoid 'stop & searches'.
  3. Well Vesp is 'the greatest mind' on Arbtalk, so who's second?
  4. I really thought the lass was going to manage. Some of the Finnish 'delicacies' that I've tried are certainly an acquired taste.
  5. Nice. Are you planning some bookshelves next?
  6. I'm always surprised how politely you rebuke people Kevin.
  7. Not too bad thankyou, almost to the end of my second cycle. Chemo’s kicking my a... this time round but hopefully I’m half way there. Trial calls for 4-6 cycles, so we’ll see.
  8. At least it’s a result and hopefully the beginning of a decent working relationship.
  9. So you don’t think that youngsta’s have a problem about staying ‘connected’, appropriate times for phone use and generally getting their shit together to get to work prepared for the work that they get paid to do? Not tarring everyone with with the same brush, I’ve worked with some great groundsman over the years, at a lot of different jobs in the public and private sector but there seems to be an increasing sense of entitlement in the younger generation to confounds me. Anyway, It’s probably a symptom of getting older
  10. I've had too many days climbing to ever let my fags out of my direct control by leaving them on the ground. You only realise later that the groundsman (who is always skint on monday morning and smoking roll-ups, has been wandering around all morning with taylor mades) in his gob and has smoked em while categorically denying any knowledge of their present whereabouts. You know the one, the one who coppers up to nip to the cafe for a cup of tea, then returns with a mega breakfast and forgets the change from your tenner for your bottle of water.
  11. There was a certain 'little incident' many years ago, when I was single and a lot younger ... To avoid a similar 'difficult' working environment my policy is to strictly avoid any comment about mums and sisters at all, lest they be misconstrued.
  12. Is there any other type of coppice? Seeing as coppicing is a well defined management technique and practice, any other occurence of regeneration not caused intentionally by man (for the purpose of causing regenerative growth) should be named something different IMHO Looking at the remnants of bud initials around the stem, i looks hat there was a lot of epicormic/basal shoots at some point, this one survived (maybe the others succumbed to grazing) and retaining a vascular connection to some roots while the parent tree declined and decay. Old, but not coppice growth. (unless its a seed......)
  13. But today the groundie is too busy taking selfies, complaining how sh*t his job is on twatter/faceache and tying his bootlaces/searching for his helmet, announcing that he didn't know it was a construction site and has left his hi-viz at the yard or rolling a fag when he gets on site for stuff like that.... If I have to ask one more time for someone to fill my saw while putting on a harness, spikes, throwing a line up etc, I'll And when you ask someone to do it, you'd think you'd asked to sleep with their sister from the looks thrown at you. I'm feeling grumpy tonight.
  14. Mark can always plead insanity, with a proven record of posts on Arbtalk to back up the claim. ?
  15. Can’t you say that the Vat on treework is 25%, no one is going to argue cos you’re really convincing and trustworthy.
  16. Used to be the widespread model, and still may be, of timber merchants - felling the tree and extracting the sticks for the timber - so there is a sort of precedence
  17. Gotta be worth a full pack of Jaffa cakes!
  18. I think that VAT man might have something to say about that. I don’t know what, but not only do they want blood out of a stone , they want a full measure of it
  19. Obviously never worn chainsaw shorts and steel toe capped flip flops have you?
  20. Do try to keep up, I know it's difficult, but...
  21. You mean ya forgot. Memories one of the first things to go mate.? I’d be really busy, if I could remember what I’m supposed to be doing.
  22. They'll be harder to keister than the more conventional illicit contraband though! That'll make your eyes water!
