  1. I saw a couple last week, mature ones, south of cheadle and wilmslow. Apparently a lot down around Nantwich too
  2. Treelife do a abbreviated version for around £30 or so. There were a couple of full copies available on line, originally uploaded by councils:001_rolleyes:
  3. If the chipper is plated at 750kg wouldn't there be a defence? A builder I know bought a ton of sand at the merchants and then got stopped and weighed. His defence was the builders merchants had inadvertently put more on than he had ordered or paid for. The case was dismissed.
  4. Just waiting for a confirmation from the FC for the same. Pretty rife around here
  5. That! The opening poster has got planning consent and is working on behalf of the neighbour, not the tree owner.
  6. Man plants tree, squirrel eats nuts, man eats squirrel. The circle of life:biggrin:
  7. Squirrel stuffed with hazelnuts in red wine, lovely
  8. I think I was tight and bought the soft back, one for the office, one for home and one for the car.
  9. Looks like dedicated Jews ear. Saprophytic I can never spell the scientific name, so won't try.
  10. The cheque will have cleared before damage becomes apparent anyway.
  11. Collins Tree guide says that there's 14-20 pairs of veins to the leaf, which these have. The lack of burrs/epicormics really threw me - and not having any books to hand. I hate identifying elms, particularly because the seem to be so rare up here and always doubt myself in my idents. There was one or two things I wanted to look at, just to confirm the identification, but my missus decided that the sample I brought home wasn't needed anymore and binned it. - The dustmen came this morning:sneaky2:
  12. That's more protection than I see on some of the sites I visit:thumbdown:
  13. I'm fairly sure it's 'european'. Looking closer, it's uniformly hairy underneath along the mid rib and major side veins. Top side of leaf is also hairy but really fine. The shoots are also hairy, There's next to no petiole and many of the leaves are almost square topped. The leaf margins are serrated, with each major serration sub divided - can't recall the proper term.
  14. No, some acute unions but not noticeably included.
  15. I could do with a positive Ident on this elm. I've a branch in the car if anyone wants more pics/info:biggrin:
  16. Can anyone point me in the right direction for identifying the cause of this?
  17. Most of them on Arbtalk
  18. I don't think I could recreate that in six days, let alone six hours. Stunning.
  19. I somehow doubt that is actually true. Morally yes, legally no. There, I believe, have been many legitimate businesses who have had to change their working practices because a complainer has managed to get the local 'Environmental Officer' on-board. Church bells and cockerels come to mind too.
  20. Pretty much mine, what's publically visible is fair game. Google Earth do it all the time. I think what is less clear cut is the interested (read nosy) next door neighbour taking photos from the bedroom window of the clients back garden. I can't see how that can be right. Then again, does the legality change if the purpose is to gather evidence of an illegal act or activity? Not too bothered about the answer but something I've wondered about from time to time.
  21. Don't judge me by your own morals:001_tongue: I asked for (and expected) that reply, didn't I? PM you address and I'll send them in a plain brown envelope:biggrin: There's getting to be far too much frivolity in this forum. So is it legal to take photos of activities in non-public places? I.e, someone trespassing into a clients back garden or a neighbour photographing over the back garden fence?
  22. So am I wrong in taking pics of my next door neighbour sunbathing naked in her enclosed back garden?
  23. Although the natural inclination may be to gain some retribution, the only real victim is likely to be the neighbour. They will be blamed, rightly or wrongly, for introducing the contractor and then still have to live next door to the idiot.
  24. And blow him a kiss:biggrin:
