  1. 14 on the 201T. Would like to try a 16 which would make sawing logs on the floor so much easier.
  2. You got to love the Internet. Judge, jury and executioner all In one. Personally I don't think it would be appropriate for Paul to comment, personally or on behalf of the AAAC at this time.
  3. Reels of 3/8 & 325 from chains direct. Rather buy from a dealer but they're 50% cheaper.
  4. But there are plenty of mature trees of this species growing in urban verges and 1m square pits surrounded by asphalt and paving. They're pretty tolerant and that tree isn't growing in really hostile environment.
  5. I've done a couple successfully, but the drilling and tapping has to be spot on.
  6. I normally email the location of patches of JK I come across, only to be told it's on the treatment list already.
  7. I thought everyone knew colour was to attract fairies
  8. Cracked pointing may or may not be due to subsidence - if on a shrinkable soil. Any pictures? Normally indicated around building corners and openings (doors and windows) If there is movement, contact their insurers who should start investigations such as level monitoring to look for seasonal movement. It's not a short process but goes towards proving that the trees are at fault. Lack of light and moisture could be the cause of the lawn dying (probably is) but there's not too much that can be done about that apart from severing roots and installing root barriers.
  9. As a subby climber I was always paid daily or on a friday night, never any issues. But most of that work was domestic. Is it a case that you are not going to be paid or just that they're slow to pay you? Cash flow can be a nightmare. Have you spoke to the people who owe you? It might be that they are having cash flow problems and are simply aren't get the money in themselves. I know it don't help you - having your own bills, but lots of companies are in the same boat.
  10. I'm a poet anf didn't know it
  11. Easy fix, may take a little longer to make it stronger.
  12. Sorry, that was a bit badly worded. As I understand it a TO's job description is along the lines of " to protect and improve the canopy cover within the borough". i.e. protect and improve the tree stock. On a development site, I would assume that using the BS5837 arb report the 'best trees' - Cat A's and B's are looked to be retained within the development. I should have qualified "as many 'good' trees as possible. My point is the planning department are or appear to be on a different agenda, to get as many houses in as possible to tick target boxes. I've had many discussions over the years and have met few TO's who believe that everyone is on the same page regarding tree retention and protection on development sites. I've also met a few who admit that they are not always consulted or get to see the arb reports until after planning consent is granted.
  13. Not that close but Beardsworths Nursery at Chainbar roundabout (A58)
  14. In my experience, the TO rightly wants to protect and retain as many trees on a development site as possible (that's his/her job) but the planning office have targets set by the authority for new houses each year/5 yr term. The conflict between the two different departments ends up in either tree loss or retained trees under pressure to be inappropriated pruned or removed as soon as the new occupier moves in.
  15. Sorry, went right over my head that:blushing:
  16. Come on David, we all know that every tree with a conk is in danger of imminent failure and every tree within a kilometre of a house is going to cause it to collapse around the owners ears.
  17. Not with public perception. I'll go back to my old saying; education, education and education
  18. I don't know about floorboards, but was alder used for clogs?
  19. I'm not a 100% sure, it's a while since I read it, but didn't Delaware Mansions conclude that the owner becomes responsible only after they are informed? And Khan added to it. Or am I getting confused?
  20. Were you on the pop last night? The conservatory was built in 2004.
  21. Fortunately the onus is on the applicant to prove, on the balance of probability, that trees are the cause of damage. The tree works app form states to evidence must be provided to validate the application. The councils legal team were pretty poor, reading the article. The defense that the conservatory was poorly constructed is no defense due to the doctrine of 'take the victim as you find him'.
  22. If you were there for number one I'm sure the missus won't mind you missing number two.
  23. :blushing:Never thought of that
  24. We have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world? Really?
  25. I haven't researched this at all and admit I know very little about rusts and how they colonize and reproduce. I don't know if variety or providence is a factor on rates of colonization, maybe some trees are genetically more resistant than others. Any rust experts in the house?
