1. I can see a couple of other scenarios: 1) Genetic mutation of the fungus and or trees that reduce the effect of DED 2) The elm population decline to an extent that the carrier (beetle) becomes extinct or changes it's feeding/breeding habits and doesn't need elms any more. It might take a few hundred thousand years, but looking on the bright side ya know.
 2. Not sure what's worse; the fact that a landscape architect has designed the scheme or a planning commitee/officer has accepted it:confused1:
 3. I've a broken lock on my L200, but I find Harley (and his bro' Busa) an effective deterrent to thieving bar-stewards
 4. I wouldn't have thought so.
 5. Mark, you're being pedantic:biggrin:
 6. [ame] [/ame] liking this at the moment and this: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcflwUYYoXk[/ame] but at the other end of the spectrum [ame] [/ame]
 7. Yeah but they can load bags a lot younger. My lad was tying on saws and dragging brash at seven:biggrin:

Hi there

We got sorted - one of those jobs where everyone eventually wanted the timber, so the logistics of getting finished sorted themselves out. Thanks for getting back though

 9. Funny how different Beeches/trees respond. I assisted on a pulling test on one which didn't have quite as many fruiting bodies as the pic above plus chicken OTW and it was showing supurb vitality - despite having been colonized for several years. (Paul, can I claim extra CPD for contibuting?)
 10. I worked for a council years ago and was also in a wood turning club. We bought in a fantastic burred elm, all around the stem and around 4m in length. My boss gave me a price to plank it, whatever thicknesses we chose, of something stupid (£50 IIRC), but I couldn't raise enough interest at the club to purchase it. When I was collecting burrs and giving them away there were loads of takers.
 11. No one heard the side anvil, bolts and support plate go through the forst the other week either. ( these earmuffs are really good nowadays) Only stopped trying to chip when a lump of steel jammed the feed roller:confused1:
 12. Agreement, acceptance? I struggle for the correct word to explain to people.
 13.

Hi there,

I've a site at rudheath and am looking for a tip site locally. White noise said that that was your locality, so wondered if you could help?

 14. I will do Thank you
 15. Starting a small site Tuesday, felling oak, sorbus and cherry (mainly) - any advice on somewhere to tip?
 16. You're just starting the worst two years of your life:biggrin: I wish you all the very best Kevin, I really do . Good luck and enjoy it
 17. Is there such a thing as basic/entry level CAD? I watched the first two videos on my phone, soon realising that that was inadequate, but CAD is infuriatingly difficult if you don't have some grounding anyway. I'm going to watch it again later, paused over the stop/start/reverse buttons, with notebook in hand. Thanks for taking the time to post.
 18. Not sure that you'd call it symbiotic, as it colonies both dead and living wood. Normally it's found decaying the heartwood but can be present for many years.
 19. You too? My wife's away this morning so it's coffee and catch up on arbtalk:biggrin: Then complete her to-do list; feed cats, walk dogs, replace security light and kitchen taps:sneaky2:
 20. 4 Course meal! You'd need to crane me back into the canopy in the afternoon:biggrin:
 21. Thanks John
 22. Side anvil sheared off, with the mounting plate behind it. Had to take the flywheel off for access, then found one of the bearings had a crack. Probably would have changed them anyway as the machines at 1000 hrs. There's some wear on the shaft where the bearing had been rotating so we'll swop that at the weekend too.
 23. Where's the provenance come into it? Can't see anything in the description.
 24. bump:biggrin:
