  1. Haven't you got something constructive to do today?
  2. Thanks, not a site I've seen before. The scale doesn't zoom to the scales I need and I also need DWG file formats to upload into other software. I'm a bit past Paint for this particular task. I'm trying to use any suitable map/plan within the terms and conditions of the provider, seeing as I'm passing them on to clients.
  3. I knew what I was doing, just not thinking (at the time) about what I was doing:blushing: an expensive lapse of focus in the job in hand.
  4. Feel for ya. My wife goes mental when the lads leave dirty cups all round the unit.
  5. Cynical view. But that's how it appears.
  6. Make sure that it's all out, had some cord get involved with the ring and ruined the cylinder before. Think it actually caused the ring to break.
  7. I'm really peeved with another well known company. Ordered a zig zag yesterday afternoon. Had text messages and emails, saying it's on its way, but won't be until monday. Thought some bloke in a bugatti would be winging his way up the M1 to us by now.
  8. Where are people sourcing maps from? Looking back over some old posts I've found a number of online sites where you can download large scale DWG plans at a reasonable cost. I think they're based on the OS master Map. My problem is the validity of using them to provide maps for surveys (Tree condition) for clients. I bought one a few weeks ago and actually read the terms and conditions of Business Use, which is really limiting. My understanding is that they are limited to such things as a map of your own premises, not for passing on to a third party. Going to the OS site, you can get the same map/plan, but it's £500, which has no such terms restricting its use. BTW, I'm not talking about 5837 surveys, just when you're having to supply your own base map and plotting the trees yourself.
  9. Not a blade bolt issue, but the coupling between the hydraulic motor and bottom roller broke yesterday. A while back the side anvil came adrift and went through, jamming the bottom roller, so we think this initiated the failure to the coupling. Rang Redwood, all parts in stock. "I know its friday afternoon, but can you get them to us tomorrow?" £30 for an express, saturday morning delivery and the machine will be back in service for monday morning. Really can't fault the aftersales service.
  10. Sorry to hear sounds pretty trite, by I am. In the last three months we've lost four saws and a back pack blower- two separate from vehicle thefts, and one saw from feck-knows-where. Can't imagine having to sort climbing kits and everything you've lost. Hope you get sorted and find a way to prevent a re-occurrence
  11. Correctly like 5.5% of the rest of the population. How to spell maintenance? Is it maintenace or maintence? - Commonly Misspelled Words TBH, one that I used to mis-spell.
  12. No problems at all. I can't really imagine why forst would have issues, the set up, bolt sizes and specs seem pretty much the same as any other make I've seen.
  13. Don't hide your light beneath a bushel Mark.
  14. No, no, no, no things that we really need.
  15. We're missing each other's post Mr Bear. Pavement post was for the person who asked why they were felled. The engineering solutions make some interesting reading- root shaving! I'm still on the fence having followed this elsewhere, in that replacing 10% of the tree stock every ten years seems sensible (Sheffield haven't over recent decades), so even if they fell 20%, it's only catching up. I somehow doubt that there will be many large species in the replanting mix though.
  16. With an Arb like Andrew Baguley on the panel, it would have been useful to actually identify the fungus species and the impact to the tree. Or is it a case of Fungus=dangerous=fell?
  17. Pavement/highway issues, in the main
  18. £300 trainers, big screen TVs £500,000 mortgages and other things we need
  19. Some interesting reading here; https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/in-your-area/report_request/trees/independent-tree-panel.html The advisory panel only have the authority to ADVISE the council to consider alternative options rather than felling, but seem to be able to agree to felling. If you scroll down you can read their report on Rustings Rd.
  20. Do those mobility scooters really go that fast:001_tongue:
  21. Before your time I'd imagine. My old man was the caretaker there when it was a college offering arts and crafts evening classes. I worked there one summer when I was 15, so 1981, doing something or other that my dad needed help for a special project. I think Brian Crane came along a few years later Stood at the front door, the chestnut to infront to the right on the far side of the lawn. About 1.5m dbh from memory with terrific spiralling bark.
  22. In town it's a free for all; phones, smoking joints, overtaking stationary traffic at zebra crossings, overtaking while you're waiting to turn right, stopping st red lights appears optional, one way streets only apply to some..... and that was only what I saw yesterday:thumbdown:
  23. There is, or was, a pretty big one at Capel Manor thirty years ago. I wonder if it's still there and the Sweet Chestnut on the front lawn?
  24. Would the really get paid out for life insurance?
