  1. Power company will reduce the limb away from the lines for free
  2. Hi Wills mills did you see the photos I posted of the blades cheers Carl
  3. Close up of larger. Not sure how to post more than one pic at a time. You can see the marks from storage. Some are worse than others. There are five or six of each size all the same type Cheers Carl
  4. Hi the larger blade has a 60mm bore and the smaller a 45mm bore diameter of smaller is 180mm larger 335mm not sure if larger has been sharpened as I have nothing to compare it too. I have tried to upload some picks of the blades cheers Carl
  5. Thanks garden kit for your reply. I will have a look at all the possibilities you have mentioned. Also understand your point regarding field testing and yes I always look at the area of grass they have and think why do machines not get run on it after repair. Especially after paying close to £40 an hour for a repair that does not cure the problems.
  6. Hi Garden kit Can the belt be tightened or is it a case of replacing the belt and seeing if it makes a difference. Is it straight forward to do an oil change on these? Where are you based in Devon. Not a big fan of loxtons as had a few machines back with little improvement. I feel that they need to be 'road tested' after repair to check that problems don't arrise again through use.
  7. Hi I have a John Deere 279 Lx ride on mower. It starts and cuts but seems to lack on power through the drive. Am I to assume that there is something wrong with the hydrostatic drive, if so can it be fixed. Also have a dozen mixed Honda hrx537 and hrh 536 most have issues with them. Is there anyone in the Somerset area that would be interested in looking at them to possibly make two or three good machines out of them or repair to the better ones. Based in Ilminster. Cheers Carl:001_smile:
  8. Not sure if anyone on here knows anything about this brand. I have six 12inch blades with 72 teeth and they appear to be brand new but tarnished as they had got damp in packaging also six smaller 8 inch blades. They have a much larger centre hole than a standard circular saw blade about 45-50mm. I have done a bit of searching and they appear to be a very got quality German make. Not sure if they are of any interest to you wood working guys. Open to offers based in Somerset cheers Carl
  9. Looks like amelachier lamarkii
  10. My guys start at 7-7.30 finish between 4.30-6.30 depending what is on or where they are working. I allow 1 hour break throughout the day I pay half and half is theirs. If they choose to only take half an hour they get paid for all the hours they are at work. For me personally I have never understood anyone taking an hour at lunch or even as much as a half, I get bored and itchy to do something, maybe because it is my business and not theirs. I have subcontractors work for me and we work on a job and knock basis as day rates are used in this case. Guys on hourly rates on these jobs will happily work through so they quite often get an extra £20-30/ pint at the pub at the end of the day. Little bits like this I think make staff feel appreciated and you hope this will equate to loyal, happy hard working staff, hard to find at the moment.
  11. Boningales or dingle nurseries. Boningale will have a slightly better quality dingle better price. Great value for plants at both nurseries.
  12. Sorry quick hijack of the thread. Rob D do you sell Alaskan mills. Am working down your way I think tomorrow. Keen to buy one.
  13. Cover all bases, you will soon get very busy. There is plenty out there if you can do arb work, soft & hard landscaping, fencing, grounds maintenance. As Rob D said start with cutting grass, always found it the best way to get you seen all around and it will always lead to all the above for those customers. If you don't do it someone else will, you have to start somewhere. Just make sure your work is of a good standard and competitively priced, it will then come as word spreads:thumbup:
  14. Has anyone used or owned any of these compact tractor units. Looking at a catalogue today and they seem to have every attachment you could think of. Not sure of the price range but hey look a great bit of kit. Attachments range from loaders, grabs, mowers, stump, grinders/busters, chippers, log splitter, processor, breakers, compactors, the list goes on and on. Would be interested in any thoughts on them if you have owned or used them.
  15. Great game today not reflected in the score but desired result! Started again at the blue ball plenty thatchers good day out.

  20. For my circumstances my previous posts and rates work, the reasons why Without my climber no tree work gets done therefore no groundsman. My groundsmen all work extremely hard and work as a perfect team with climber. However they still can't climb the tree! My climber comes with all own climbing equipment, saws. Truck and another chipper if required. He is also first to muck in on the ground to get job done. Yes not one of those with endless crap hanging of his harness. Therefore worth to me far more.
  21. Sorry I see, if I need a climber and one groundsman or two and so on I would pay the groundsmen my rate for them if they had climbing tickets or not and climber their rate.
  22. If he was climbing and was any good then yes.
  23. Why are you a groundie if you have all your climbing tickets? Groundie round here I pay £80ish climber very experienced £180 whether their done at 1 or 6.30.
