  1. Thanks for the reply, do you drill the stem to apply the poison. What is ecoplugging? What poison do you suggest.Cheers Carl.
  2. Hi all, I have been asked by a a regular customer to remove a very large white poplar. The reason being because there is a huge amount of suckered growth from the root system as far as 30m away. It is coming up in the lawn, borders and gravel drive. I have said that we would happily remove the tree but am sure this will just promote vigour in the suckered growth. I would welcome any advice on this. Is there anything that can be done prior to removal to prevent the growth from the roots system.
  3. You should use SBR in all your mixes. We lay and point as we go so pointing us not separate to the bed. Never had an issue with repointing since doing this. All sandstone paving calibrated and sourced in any colour from Infinate paving, best prices anywhere.
  4. Turf cut existing to about three inches 20mm scalp levelled and compacted finish with 5mm to dust compacted nice and smooth. Taper all edges with a trowel so the edges bend downwards. Nearly all lawns are fixed with 4 inch nails at 1ft spacings. Kiln dried sand applied to area and brushed in against pile to make it stand up a blower is also helpful to force the sand down to the base of the pile. Don't forget Myles membrane beneath the turf to stop ant chance of weed growth. Jointing tape is supplied by supplier of turf. Hope that helps. Cheers Carl:thumbup1:
  5. Thanks Matty will give them a try. Do you have any idea of costs. I would be interested in a hand on the job, I guess you are local to the area. Potentially two or three other jobs in the Southampton area. Be interested in a day rate if it works with you. Cheers Carl
  6. Thanks Andrew I will give them a try cheers Carl
  7. Hi all, am after any info on mewp hire in the Romsey area. We are based in Somerset so not familiar with the area. Got a roadside oak that needs removing Insulated LV and BT all through canopy. Would appreciate any info on mewps with 45ft to 60ft reach plus prices etc in Romsey area.
  8. Looking for some advice on a wood burner with back boiler or wood fuelled boiler. We are having a single storey extension built 6m x 5m as a living room. We would like to install either a new wood burner in the room with a back boiler or a new boiler that uses wood fuel. Not sure on suitable makes, prices and sources any advice would be welcomed. The rest of the cottage is a three bed barn conversion approx 20m x 5m with oil fired central heating at the moment. Got plenty of wood fuel for either option
  9. Never use 3" posts way to much whip even if concreted well. sounds like they haven't filled holes properly and punned them in. Think you are right, cheapest quote, cheap job.
  10. If the weathers awful I like to get done and home by way of the local. Not always we would do it.
  11. You can, did it last week in the pouring rain. And the week before started at 9am done by half 2. 34m two men posts and railed two pailing wanted to get home from Portsmouth. Even so at those rates I would be happy with 20m a day.
  12. That's about what you can achieve round here and still get the work.
  13. £70 a day seems a lot per metre! Do you get much work at this rate. That's one hell of a days money. If you base that on 30m a day, Materials £17.50/m. That would mean you clear approx £1475/day even if you paid a labourer £100. I want some work where you are!!
  14. When you say close does that mean it is same family as zelkova?
  15. Obviously didn't explain properly. It sits low at the rear empty. Yes heavier springs are obvious to reduce the amount it drops when loaded. I am looking to raise the rear more than it is now empty. Springs don't do this.
  16. It was bigger than this one. Removed now I believe
  17. Priced a huge zelkova in Trowbridge last year looks a bit like this one?
  18. I have a 2.8td iveco sits low at the rear. Will pull anything no problem just arches sit on wheels pretty much when loaded. What's the best solution?
  19. You only need 4 posts as we'll if it's not panels bays will be no more than 2.3m. Less rails as well.
  20. I agree post Crete done in a few hours. Why not charge a metre rate for all your fencing. It balances in the end from long runs to short runs.
  21. Thanks for the advice I will look at the website. Will go to mill auto for a belt and try it. I was quoted £302 for a new pulley through timberwolf!
  22. Hi big T I do think the aluminium pulley is quite worn. Timberwolf say this is an obsolete part. Are you saying that you used a pulley from another manufacturers was same spec. Do you mind me asking how much the pulley was.
  23. Had a look at the belt I have been told that these entecs take a 900 or a 925 belt the one on there is marked 1000. I'm thinking maybe this is the wrong belt that's why the hydraulic pump mount is tensioned to its max I am going to try a shorter belt.
  24. Hi I have an Iveco 2.8td 51plate. It sits fairly low empty. Loaded with logs today and arches were nearly on the tyres. Can I put heavier duty springs on it to get it to sit higher as it would take and pull a fair bit more. Any suggestions would be welcome. 07818018400
  25. Thanks for the comments. I had looked into it briefly I believe it is in the beech family? Been told it splits when milled into planks was thinking more of posts for green oak garden buildings that we normally buy in English oak for. Got no means of milling and don't know anyone local that could. Anyone interested in it either milling or as firewood. 07818018400 Ilminster, somerset
