  2. Ouch man, hope you heal up soon. all this year I have used the grey and blue "itek" glasses sold by clarkes forest, can't recommend them enough, for about £7 you get decent protection and the grey ones offer sun glare protection. Last week a wood chip shot back out the chipper hopper and hit me straight in the eye, was a big chunk, but those glasses stopped it and didn't scratch either, seriously man, look into them, Get well soon man

  6. My Grandad - in - law...if that makes sense was a "River Man", has told me many a tale of clearing the rivers and ditches, he done it for 30 years, he got such bad arthritis in his hands/legs/feet from the waders and gloves that the River Board had to pay him out in compensation.... This may be one of the reasons as to why there are no more river men.....

  11. I was made to make the saw kick back when i was being trained for my cs30, was told it will help me get more of a understanding about kick back, and i must say it did help, ive had the inertia kick in while snedding up some conifer in the past when i had just started in this game, happens pretty fast, you would assume you accidently put the chain break on

  18. hi all, Wood craft facinates me, so i thought i would give it a go, got myself a little knife, and a "draper carving set" im sure you know the one i mean... heres my work in progress, havent had time to finish him yet.. I tried a idea i found on the net about using Dowels for the eyes... but i messed it up lol... he looks like hes seen the Orcs from lord of the rings charging at him if i try the dowels again i think i will try set them back further into the head, so you cant see that its a spare dowel from my ikea desk... how long should i be drying the wood before carving?? this was sycamore... and should i be removing the bark layer during the drying period?? many thanks
  19. well... yes, i thought about putting it in the utility section, but i saw that nearly 4 times the ammount of people look at the general chat page, sometimes more, so took my chances.... but out of over 200 views, no one replied with a answer lol.... doesnt matter, i passed them anyways..
