Hmmm, not being the expert but i get home everynight, and soak my pot up to the brim in tepid rain water, mist the leaves every other day, and turn the pot around every other day, to spread the light, mine is on a south facing window, also just started using pellet bonsai slow release fertilizer, one pellet last 2 months, and you place them 1 every square inch....hope it comes back matey

update: a new addition, 12 years old, same species.... but gives me a chance to try a different style, also bought some feed and a variety of wires to get me started on the styling.

Yeah, luckily we were working in the front of the property, but unfortunately we are back tomorrow to work at the back.... Someone may have to be on patrol all day I think

Just a warning to all in the area, we were checked out by a white transit connect van 4 times in one day by 3 "glistening eyed" occupants, clearly slowing down and looking at the security of our chipper. They even parked up the road for a while but moved on soon after we all made it clear they had been noticed.

Cool, pinenut....sad to say I haven't heard of that... Ash is a good idea due to its growth rate, im looking out for some stumps when im working, a nice 8" tall stump with a 3" width would be perfect, yamadori I thinks its called....

a little update, the tree i purchased is flourishing, new growth all over, wont be long and it will be ready for a little prune. i attached this picture purely because it was so interesting, the effort and imagination it just incredible. but something about the picture makes me wonder wether its real or not, it all looks good around the tree, but where it comes out the pot looks a little photoshopped

wicked, love that shape my help sheet says "your tree will arrive sufficiently damp in the soil, becasue the tree is dormant it will not be using alot of moistureso only water if the soil surface feels dry. in a cool spot in winter with the tree dormant you may only need to water every 5-10 days, always be guided by the colour and feel of the soil, if it feels dry..water, otherwise wait. once active growth begins it will be necessary to increase watering fequency"

the guy in the video above is the fella who works/owns(?) kaizen bonsai, where my tree came from, looking forward to seeing those pics rebel_commando, also happy birthday! a 16 year old larch bonsai is quite impressive by itself, despite what it looks like lol, im just hoping i get a few months out of mine lol im glad there are a few other keen people out there noticed a few yellow leaves on mine today, the help sheet which came with it said its normal after a tree has been moved from its usual spot...would hate to think its in trouble already..

Ooooo good luck I can't offer many tips as this is a new one for me too, when it arrives it does come with a care sheet specific to your tree though. I wanna see some pics when it arrives

It came from kaizenBonsai, paid £18 for it, £2 less than that dying stick in my last picture, with postage my new one come to £23, for the quality im very happy

compare those pictures to this one, this tree was from a "garden centre".....was smaller, less healthy and more expensive..... sorry for the poor image quality

my little elm arrived today, well packaged and ready for the spot i have prepared, lets hope it survives. very impressed with the quality for the price.

I have little experience with them, but if you are a beginner like me then I shall tell you what I have read so far, Depending on the space and facilities you can offer your new tree depends on which species, if you want a indoor variety then ficus bengimina is a good beginners species or Chinese elm has been suggested to me, if your looking to do more outdoor bonsai then almost any tree can be bonsai, They are slow growing once in the stereotypical tiny pots, these are finishing pots to slow down growth, before this they are grown either in the ground or larger pots to encourage faster growth to get the main stem up to a trainable size, the bonsai I have just purchased is 8 years of and around 9" tall to give you a idea of growth/life, reading online they can live for many many years

Lol, I like that, how long did you spend looking for that lot? I like it, the amount of shredder gloves we've had, bout ad exciting as our chipper misshaps go...
