  1. Yer it's a no go in my opinion you can't beat the ease of a click buckle thingy. Is the weight of the normal tree motion really an issue? If it bothers you then climbing ain't for you.
  2. Nice methodical take down there with good cuts and a great saw to match. Looked a nice day to almost forgot the sky goes blue. Shame the stem got felled though. That split would have been a great home for beasties.
  3. Taking after smart phones, gets bigger every generation! Looks a bit to bulky for my liking
  4. Yer I think the zillion will be my next buy as the zz is faultless imo. I felt the same with the sj just seems to be more of a recreational climbing device imo
  5. Right so looking at that picture it's not just a quick change of rope on site then lol.
  6. What's the difference in the positioner then if it can be used on flip lines? How easy is it to get on one if the flip line has 2 eyes?
  7. Anyone used the zillion then? I might sell the spiderjack then as like you say it's a same to pull it to pieces
  8. Is it as easy as that? Can you just take that part off? Do I need to?
  9. I just didn't like it when you take your weight off the system then sit back in it it doesn't always bite again. Thought it was a safety issue really because of how use to the hitch climber I was. Hence why the zz suited me better. The spiderjack hasn't even got a mark on it so thought I better put it to use...
  10. Got a spiderjack used it once didn't think it was as good as people were saying and forgot about it as I have the ziggy (love the zigzag!). What I'm wondering is I have the tango cinch on my lanyard but had it a while and getting bored of it. Has anyone used a spiderjack on a lanyard? Pros? cons? Otherwise I'll be getting the zillion but that's more money down the grid...
  11. That's because in forestry there's no dog shyt to dodge, plant pots to move, Greenhouses under the tree and decking to slip on. The list could continue for hours...
  12. Normally I make a rule of not getting involved with neighbourly disputed but I would recommend going talking to them because the last thing you want is to chuck a load of branches over the fence creating an argument because it will look bad on your business. Maybe jot a little agreement and get the neighbour to sign it just so there's no come back.
  13. Yer I bought the tool locker second hand for really cheap! It cost £1300 for the tool locker and chip box including materials. The aluminium panels are the costly part think they came to £800 and the rest was on steel, paint and hinges etc
  14. More pictures of the build as stump squatter requested. So I striped the tipping frame down to this and built on from there. Added the box... Built the frame from 50mm x 100mm box and 25 x 40 strengtheners Quick lick of paint The side frame is made from 40 x 40 box and then added 40 x 5 flat bar to house the Ali panels as you can see a bit of in the last pic. Started to cut and rivet the 200 x 25 hollow Ali panels with 4.8mm rivets with wide heads Headboard is made from corrugated floor planks as they handle the beating from the chip spraying better than the hollow planks Doors are made from the hollow panels with caps on the ends Steel roof but I would have preferred Ali but tried to keep cost down. Ow and roof and floor is made from 2mm steel sheet. Floor seam welded and roof riveted encase I decide to change it in the future.
  15. Depends where you live as they have loads of branches but here's the one I used
  16. Thanks everyone for the positive comments it took a lot of sweat and tears as I'm no fabricator but I'm really pleased with the outcome. If you have the time I'd recommend building your own partly because of cost but also you can change ideas as you go along to suit your needs. This is how It use to look.
  17. Yer it's a cabstar, I think they do build body's as well as supply materials. Absolute brilliant company to deal with. As I've never built or used the materials before they happily let me in the warehouse to look at what they had.
  18. Just finished building mine, me and my dad did it. He did the welding of the steel frame and I did the rest. Got all the materials from service metals. Including the tool box (which was second hand) it cost me £1300 and I thought that was expensive. I couldn't justify £3000! This is what I used 25mm x200mm aluminium planks
  19. IT'S that or no work in the morning 😉
