  1. Ok. I'm going to stand up and say I'm to liking this at all. Not the mod, just the fact that everyone is drilling holes in there exhaust. Please please please, could someone do it in a way that doesn't make it look like a boy racer has got a cordless drill and some hss bits for Xmas. For my sanity.
  2. There you go. Knew he would put it in a way everyone could understand.:lol::lol:
  3. Yep. 12g stand over mound early in the morning and count to 100 if nothing happens move to next one. Not a guarantee but still try it.
  4. I remember being about 7 and helping out on a local farm. One day while feeding the sheep the farmer was shooting moles. He got one and put it in my coat pocket. Told me to go home and get my sister to put her hand in saying I had something for her in my coat while it was handing on the hook. I have never heard a scream like it. The poor dead mole went flying. and I went running.
  5. An age old argument there. Sometimes its not about cutting faster, but cutting harder. Being able to cut bigger stuff without the need for a bigger saw. Being able to do a dismantle all the way down to the trunk work. Without changing saws from one to another.
  6. Is that another case of Steves drawing skills have come a long way this year.....
  7. One question I have for Justin is what sort of workshop and workshop consumables are you going to have there? I will be looking for more pull cord, files, stihl tools, plugs, all the sort of stuff I get through on a daily basis fixing tools.
  8. So you don't want the topper version then :lol:
  9. Urm. I do remember something on the bench thread. But I'm not trawling through 400 pages to find it:lol: Will leave that to you. If anyone strips there 201t exhaust apart can you post a picture of both halves up for me so I can see it. I havnt had a 201t in my hands yet so don't actually know what's there.
  10. You can pay me big money if you want. I havnt seen a penny of anything else....... Oh wait I havnt had any money of anyone on here... Oh exept dave. Yes you can. Just with anything check the plug colour (use a new one) or tach the saw up after the mod to ensure its all ok. Surely there is a more tidy way of doing it r at her than just drilling holes? The 200t mod looked good as it meant taking it apart and not just making holes.
  11. Sorry didn't make that bit clear did I. I meant before the holes where drilled the exhaust is having trouble escaping and is more pushed out than allowed to travel. Just builds up a bit. The holes allow it to escape faster clearing the way for more. Is that a better one. Spud I need your genius on a keyboard to type it up better
  12. Urm. SPUD. Just when we think we are getting somewhere this happens :001_rolleyes: Ok. Here goes. By drilling holes in the exhaust you are ONLY letting the exhaust gasses escape quicker. Thos with a turbo car know what happens with it. The burnt gasses are only getting out quicker making the exhaust clear quicker allowing the transfer of gasses out of the engine better, this will stop "bogging" of the engine, this "bogging down" is the exhaust not getting out fast enough and filling the exhaust casing up, therefore the engine must push the burnt gas out harder, meaning there is a blockage of exhaust. Bit like reducing the m25 to single lane traffic in the middle of rush hour. The intake is not effected so the same amount of air and fuel will still be going in and getting burnt. Unless you do some porting work to the intake. If anything they have to be leaned up a bit due to the ventury effect on the carb and meaning it will pull more fuel up as the gasses move through the engine faster. Jeeze where is spud when you need him
  13. I got a hall pass for the show. Camping it is. And the missis will be joining me. But I rekon she only wants to keep an eye on what I'm spending. Some time to spend together she said..........
  14. Well. Well well. Ok scrap anything to do with the makita or the husky. They are not wanting to be fixed and will be collected by the customer. Now how should I handle this. He is addimant that he can still use the husky himself. Now as I see it fine the chain brake isn't there or working, that's his fault if he hurts himself. The problem I have is the chain tensioner. It just not there so there will never be tension on it and the chain will break and knacker the bar. I have told him about this and pointed it out. But seems he is not listening to reason. Doesn't even want to pay for the tensioner to be replaced. This bill wouldn't be much. Also the makita is going back aswell. Just need to make sure he pays me for my time before taking the tools away. Bit of a shame that I won't be repairing the tools, we looking forward to bringing t he husky back to life.
  15. Sounds like a lot of hard work to me. The internal combustion engine was invented for a reason...... Sorry just me. If a machine can do then why not. Halves the time, halves the man power, and is a LOT easier. Is there a special reason for not doing it by machine. And it doesn't need to be a big machine does it?
  16. Thanks. I'm not sure on the heated handles as I havnt looked that far.. It was just a check over as the saw was just dumped on me with an order of, see if its worth fixing for me. Most saws come in with an order along those lines from customers. Will have a look tommorow and see of its heated. Yes I'm still looking for the cover and assembly. Pm me if you can.
  17. Cheers bob. Looking into it. Guess its no joy on the husky. Had a look around but not come up with much. Never mind. Found one for a 61.
  18. Ok last one I promise. Two mowers. Not really what I go for but they came in with the other stuff. A Flymo that is not driving. Havnt looked at either of these, with the drive gears on the wheels that's where I'm going to start. The other is a mount field, was brought at an auction, just wants to know if it will run and if its worth fixing. So going to slap some fuel in it and see what happens. Owner paid five quid for it. So no loss if it just needs a clean up. Ok so a recap. Husqvarna 266 needs a new chain break assembly. Makita dcs400 needs new brake band. Stihl combi, all sorted no oil in tank. Hedgecutters, need to get the damn recoil spring back in one. Other one sorted. And the last two lawn mowers.
  19. Ok spud. Will have a search for one. And the next part is the two hedge cutters. These are really simple The first is a mcrapock. Pull the starter and its jumping. So not pulling the engine but making a really nice grinding sound. Tightened the top cover down and its fine.. So a sharpen and clean. Next up is one with no name. The owner is a friend, he is not stupid and usually manages to fix his own tools, only calls me when he is really stuck. Well the pull cord snapped on him, so he decided to pull the assembly off to change it and pulled the plastic bit out without thinking and the spring exploded out. (his wife recently passed away so will let him have this one) So a question, is there a neat trick to getting these damn stupid silly springs back in. I tried for about half hour and relised it was time to go home.
  20. Ok so next up is the makita. Dcs400, hasn't been run for about two years. Put some fuel in and after some pulling and coughing and spluttering it fired into life, runs well. But. This one has a knackerd drum brake band. So knackerd its not engaging the drum and stopping the chain. What a pig of a cover to get back on aswell. So where to get makita parts...
  21. Is there a little black sponge behind the air filter. On the black part covering the air intake behind air filter? Next up on my list. A husky. It says on the side 266 and under that its either 56 or 5g hard to make out. The engine runs fine no problems there. But.... The chain break wasn't working, on taking it apart its just not there. No band nothing. So a question. Are these available? Also may need a break lever as this on has snapped, could weld it up. If this part isn't available has anyone got a replacement. Obviously under some payment for it. Oh and the chain adjuster is also missing.
  22. Ok. Been burning the midnight oil. Need to clear some time tomoz for my boys school sports day. So first up the combi tool. It looked too new to be anything major. Took the oil cap off and the oil tank was bone dry. Didn't even have a smear of oil in it. Filled it and away it went. Chain is now oiled and working fine. Someone forgot that these things do actually need chain oil in them.........
  23. Yeah yeah yeah. Still don't like husky. Just one of those things. Pick it up and just don't like it. Anyway. Busy busy busy. Today I have a Flymo mower in. Not driving. A stihl combi tool. Chainsaw attachment chain keeps jumping off. Two Mikita chainsaws. Not running. Havnt been started in two years, so have a guess what that is. And a stihl chainsaw. Not running. Also got two hedgecutters coming in, have to collect these on way home. One broken pull cord. Other not running right.
  24.:lol: I knew that was coming. The chain was sharp thank you. Sorry Barrie did I not tell you on the phone I have just moved. This very moment in fact.:lol:
  25. I wish. They are all d a tree surgeons. I just groundie fr him when he needs me, and when I start climbing the walls in the workshop. I'm happy with the disco. They are all excellent vehicles and they work very well. Must be the very good mechanic you have dave.
