  1. I bought an Uncle Sams All Star burger for £2.70 after work today - that's this week's profit halved
  2. I convinced my mate who owns the co. I work with to place an order with you today. He was dead impressed when he got a text message within a very short time saying his order was packed and winging its way to him. Nice one boys and girls
  3. If you want to see something lightly sprung, that is mid line attachable, that works as fall arrest and work positioning and can be used to ascend on, and could work in conjunction with a hitch, then have a look at SAR or ISC Rope Rockers.......
  4. No need to - the registration is dead simple, and there's a ton of useful business info there. Also, I'm between accountants at the moment - existing one being me doing my own books, and now looking for one who knows more than the one my work mate has.
  5. Late to this thread, but I've been trying to find out more about them too. Good engines (Iveco)
  6. Sounds like it isn't properly sharpened. Also, if you force the saw into the wood then it'll heat up too much.
  7. One thing to consider though, is that the pollution generated in the manufacture of the cat is well away from you. When you're using the saw and it has a cat then the fumes you are breathing in are less harmful than they would be without the cat.
  8. Cheers Treewolf. I'm definitely not going to sit back and let the entitlement go. I've left a message for my consultant to call me so I can get his opinion on what DVLA have done (and I'll ask for something in writing) and I'll make an appeal through the magistrates court. As you say, it's something worth having as a back up, and is also a good way to encourage me to go for regular check ups. I also went straight from car to HGV1 in the space of 5 days, and I'm a damn site fitter and healthier than the instructor I had. Very first day of the course, and my very first day driving an artic, he told me to turn right out of their yard and head toward the A27 and we would make our way to Hastings. Within 5 or 10 minutes, he'd fallen asleep, woke up half hour later as he needed a pee (I got to hear all about his medical problems!), then he got back in and fell asleep again. Next he wakes up just as I'm coming into the back of Hastings. The poor ol' fella was 60+ and seemed to suffer from serious narcolepsy..... and he was my instructor!
  9. FR, item 4 in your list, please could you clarify? The fee for incorporating on-line is £18, and the documents for memorandum of association are authenticated electronically. Which are the 2 forms that need to be notarised?
  10. Latest update.... received letter from DVLA yesterday saying that on medical advice they are not renewing my Group 2 (LGV) entitlement due to my PFO. What gets me is that a PFO is something that 1 in 4 people have. Another thing that gets me is that I'm fit and healthy apart from occasional shortness of breath, unlike some of the heavy smoking, drinking, obese drivers that I see every day. My consultant has already told me that I have absolutely no heart disease, and the occasional symptoms I'm getting are not likely to be caused by the PFO. The consultant said the PFO was "asymptomatic", so not why are DVLA saying the opposite? Apparently I have the right to appeal through the magistrates court, and I can also reapply when the consultant has given all clear. I have an appointment with consultant in a couple of weeks. I hope to be able to use refusal to renew the LGV entitlement as leverage to persuade the consultant that I should have the PFO closed (simple procedure). But I really don't understand why the licence was refused anyway, given that the consultant had said I was "asymptomatic" and am NOT going to have a heart attack or stroke! Imagine if driving was my full time occupation - I've got kids and bills to pay, and I'd be absolutely stuffed for no reason at all. I'm about the fittest and healthiest person of 45. I started seeing GP a year ago as I was a bit concerned about occasional shortness of breath, and I know for a fact that it's the sort of thing most people would have just ignored. This was the first time in my whole life that I have been to the GP for this sort of thing. Any other trips had been for jabs and medicals, and to take the kids for their jabs etc! BAAAAADDDDD DAY
  11. Yep, it's good to offload at the end of the day
  12. Yep, defiitely keep positive. It'll all work out. Best wishes for the wedding.
  13. Are you married to her? Or is she with an accountants firm? I can't find an accountant that cheap anywhere!
  14. That's a beaut. I'll do you a swap for me Zenith E
  15. Man, that's hilarious (just laughing so I don't cry )
  16. Not down here. Just go to the government's South East Business Portal and they're all there. Anyone can apply for the tenders provided they meet the requirements of the tender, which are all clearly given in black and white, along with the relevant forms. See https://www.businessportal.southeastiep.gov.uk/sece/opportunity.nsf/fcontent?ReadForm&requesttype=view&requestview=authority&start=1&count=10&contentid=1.003
  17. Paid £60 for front pads supplied and fitted to my Merc C180K sport estate. Paid £30 for set of rear pads and fitted them myself in 20 mins. Last month had Jeep Grand Cherokee handbrake shoes replaced by garage for £30, they also replaced 2 front suspension arms (parts cost £45 each, new), and welded plate on centre silencer, and fitted new number plate bulb and couple of other little bits, and they MOTd it.... cost for the whole lot....£300 incl vat. Bargain
  18. Wouldn't bother with the AC. Just remove the belt for it. That'll save you £838 repair and it'll save you fuel too.
  19. Nice one. While you're at home, to save getting bored, you could redecorate the nursery
  20. Actually, this one's tree related too....cos it's a sort of wooden, well wicker, lobster pot: And this was one of the first tilt picture I ever took. I just undid the lens from front of the SLR, held it in front of where it was mounted and tilted it slightly to get the effect I wanted. Absolutely no effects used in post processing. The grainy effect comes from taking the picture in really low light. Again, it's sort of tree related, as she climbs tree!
  21. Might as well kick this one off again. Here are some tilt pictures taken with about £80 worth of lens and tilt adapter.... My baby (this one's tree related as it's wood!): My Floor Board: Bloke on beach: And on the water:
  22. Re the tax thing: Corporation tax is charged on your companies taxable profits. The taxable profit is the bottom line of your profit & loss account, which is income minus all legitimate business expenses. Your wages, as a company director/employee are legitimate business expenses and so come out of your company profits, thereby reducing your taxable profits. So you DON'T pay corporation tax on your wages. You ONLY pay income tax and NI on your wages.
  23. Ben, are you sure you're with the right accountant? The limited co my mate owns and who I do most of my work with only pays about £900/yr and that include quarterly vat returns. Mind you, my mate's wife keeps the books in good order so everything is there for the accountant to easily see.
  24. And the brakes. Large trailer has its own.
  25. You don't need to spend a lot for a tilt lens. I've use a tilt adapter that has a mount to take Pentacon six type lenses - there are loads of good lenses available at cheap cheap prices from Russia and Germany. All old and second hand, but fun to use. Only down side is needing to do manual focussing and exposure - something a lot of people don't know how to do these days
