  1. Our new mower bench. We used to have to lift mowers onto the old bench, which obviously was a bit of an HSE issue. This one drops to about 200m and lifts to 1220mm.
  2. Only just seen your post Mr Graygit. If you are getting 10% discount from the RRP of £18.98 inc vat per 5litre can, then you will not save anything by buying a pallet. I have to admit, we only offer our customers 5% on the quantities you mention, but give 10% and free delivery on a pallet of 54 (highlands and islands excepted) You could have a mixed pallet of red and blue and make a bob or two reselling some of it to you motorcycle client.
  3. Who are you, and how do you know my name?
  4. Even the initiated need reminders sometimes Mark.
  5. Those clutch bits can travel at serious speed and cover serious distance. If you have left the workshop door open you can guarantee they will find it and be off to the pub.
  6. I hear there is a new web search site to rival Google, its called 'Eddyit'
  7. Good comments from Geoff and Spud, follow their advice. But be reassured that Aspen does not clean out years of crud. It contains no solvents, so will not wash out accumulated crap which will need manually cleaning. What will happen though, is that over time, carbon deposits in the upper cylinder and exhaust will dissapear once they are not being topped up by the carbon in pump fuel, but the rate of cleansing will be slow and cleansed material will pass harmlessly out of the exhaust.
  8. Sorry, I see now what you meant. Most machines in the Tanaka range have been selected from those available worldwide for their quality. Even so, the range still includes cheaper domestic models, so go for the more expensive options of any that appear to be similar. There are machines in every category that carry the special 2 yr pro warranty, so these will be your best choice.
  9. One has Tanaka written on it, the other has Hitachi!
  10. Hitachi did buy the Tanaka company a few years ago and had some of the tanaka range built in Hitachi livery, and also developed a few lower quality machines to market in their range. But the Tanaka product still exists under its own name. The number of models they produce is very large but the UK importer only brings in selected higher range product. Two hedge cutters, for instance, may look the same. But the Pro model Tanaka machine will now have Japanese blades and Japanese springs for the AV, along with a steel spine when the other model has Chinese blades, aluminium spine and Chinese springs. So yes, same company, but not always same product. Tanaka is the higher quality product.
  11. Why not? Its not a problem. Just like many other machines, the same bolts are used all along the bar, but some support the thickness of additional guards etc. Out of interest I compared the Tanaka with a Stihl HS81, as in the first picture. (the other pics just show how nicely put together the Tanaka is!)
  12. To be honest, the HS45 is only designed as a domestic use hedgecutter, hence the price, and you only get what you pay for. The thing to note is that the blades have only half the sharp edges as most similar machines. You will see the difference in the pics. The first 3 are HS45, and the last is a Tanaka.
  13. Seriously, try aTanaka TCH22ECP2(66) Japanese blades, Japanese AV springs, low vibe, 2 yr Pro Warranty.
  14. I will second that bazbro, and the answer I always give is " probably not" as no mower works well in the wet, especially collectors. However, the OP's Snapper does seem especially poor, after all he is not saying its wet, just about 8" long. I would have expected it to cut on a high setting and side discharge OK as long as the forward speed was kept down. But the blade would have to be sharp, and the belt would need to be the correct one (exactly),in good condition and well tensioned. And, as you said, the engine revs need to be kept up. I have cut many areas of grass like this completely well with John Deere side discharge machines, and even with collectors if the conditions are right. I would not sell one to do this if it was the normal to cut grass of this length, but on the odd occasion, if used with care, they will cope. The only real damage that can be done is advanced wear on the deck belt.

    Aspen cans

    Cool. Actually it was only 15 cans though! 12 x 2t and 3 x 4t.

    Aspen cans

Ah ha, thats better Paul:001_smile: And remember its a little more difficult to get the mix of Aspen2 and Aspen4 when you buy by the barrel. However, buy one barrel of each and get free delivery.
  17. Helicoils work just fine in plastic. Just have to use a machine screw rather than a course thread self tapper type screw.

    Aspen cans

Eddie is spot on, a barrel is not as cheap, or as convenient, as you may think On the basis that we deliver 54 cans (pallet) with free delivery, after discount the price (inc vat) per litre is £2.85 But one 200 litre barrel incurs a £40 plus vat (£48) delivery cost, making the price per litre £2.81, only saving 4p per litre over cans. When you consider the cost of the pump, the time taken decanting before leaving the yard, and the chance of contamination (as well as a little pilfering) I reckon its much better to stick with cans. Of course, if you buy 2 x 200 litre drums we will deliver free, making the PPL £2.73, saving 12p per litre over cans.
  19. I can ask my supplier once I have the part number, there maybe a chance.
  20. Neat:thumbup1:
  21. there could be a choice of two, check out this PDF and let me know which looks right. getfile.pdf
  22. Firstly, check the battery. If the voltage is down the PCB will not supply the solenoid with sufficient power and a rapid clicking noise will be heard.
  23. Same here Eddie, all machines are oiled, fuelled (with Aspen!) and test run. All controls and functions tested and carbs tuned if needed, and revs set. Saws are taken round the back of the unit and cut a few rounds off some cord, just to make sure they work under load. Then the customer comes to pick up the saw, see's that it has sawdust on and a few drips of chain oil, then grumbles that I am palming him off with a used saw:001_rolleyes: Just cant win all the time!
  24. AL-KO bought Solo well over a year ago, but were not happy with the product or its production line as it was and closed the factory for a complete upgrade of the production line and the product. I have seen some of the new saws 'pre launch' and they are certainly not light and flimsy as has been assumed. In fact they are very sturdy and seem a little on the heavy side. They will be branded 'solo by Al-KO' The range covers 36cc to 80cc with 'homeowner' 'semi-professional' and 'strong professional' designations. Model numbers are 636,643IP,646,652,651C,656C,665,675 and 681, but how closely these resemble the old range I do not know as I have not had much to do with SOLO for many years. We saw the saws early, but as yet there has been no release of specification or price as the official UK launch is Jan 2016. Rochford at Wincanton are the UK 'SOLO by Al-ko' importer for this new product.
  25. It sure was a big site, can't remember what it had been for originally. Think it might have been something to do with railways?
