  3. Just went out with the dog ( still dark 05:15 ) and its 1 degree but the bitter NE wind makes it feel a lot less . Lit the stove !

  15. I think back in the day most estates had one .
  16. There is one in a steep bank/hill in the grounds of West Dean estate . ( it was on the shoot and the drive was called " the ice box " ) Across the road is a place called the warren . It is now a few estate cottages but used to be used to breed rabbits for food . The meat was hung in the " ice box " .

  19. Egrets have tuned up on the river next to me . Ravens are paired up and croaking and honking . Ducks paired up but one or two " threesoms " . Black bird now sitting on 3 eggs in log store .
  20. Deer can cause similar damage to beech . Don't suppose they are accessible to deer ?
