  1. Could have been Q Bond....
  2. Saw some stuff on the counter at my local motor factors the other day, some adhesive filler powder stuff, can't remember the name but I'm sure any proper car parts shop would ave something like it. Comes in back or grey...... Build up round where it's snapped off, drill it out to get the pipe into it a bit then build some more round it to seal it and secure the pipe. Job done.
  3. Not sure where you'd stand on that one but for any loans you've had you can download a form from the bank and send it in, easy as pie. Got to be worth a try
  4. Just a resurrect to this thread. I hadn't bothered looking into my old loans but when I was in my bank in March I asked about it. Filled a form out, sent it in, bank phoned me a couple of weeks later to ask a couple of questions and I subsequently forgot all about it. Got a fat letter in the post this morning from Lloyds with all my loan and ppi info in it, apparently they've 'upheld my complaint', which was more of a passing stab in the dark really. Anyway, the letter reads a bit funny and there are lots of figures and 'offers', so I'm not entirely clear how much I'm getting back, but it's somewhere between £2700............ And £8300 :w00t: I'm not sure where though! Will find out in the next month when it arrives in the account Either way it's a damn sight better than a kick in the balls! They pay 8% interest as well!
  5. You can work out what your charges will be from the info on the HMRC website. I brought one over, saved about a third after charges. If it goes wrong I'll fix it myself, although the warranty would be over by now and nothing went wrong anyway. Would I do it again? Probably not. I'm too impatient to wait for things to come!
  6. This must be tar from your old burner which the new one, which runs so much hotter, is burning out. If you let some hot burns go in warmer weather the chimney should clean out quite well.
  7. I remember watching the videos of it when it was still the Thompson unicender and all silver, thinking it looked brilliant. The pull down to go principle appears far more hitch like to me than the tilt & thumb operation of the SJ. I'm yet to try one but everything I've seen suggests to me that it's mustard!
  8. Neat, I like it. Welcome to AT.
  9. I tried a spiderjack for the first time the other day. Didn't get a chance to try a zig zag. I found the SJ to be quite lively, not very intuitive and potentially lethal! It's not at all like a friction hitch. Arran got on it and bonded with it very quickly though. My first ascent to 6' ended with a rapid descent and landing on my arse It would take me a bit of getting used to....! I just want a Uni!
  10. I think that's gone beyond 'crisis'..... MAN DOWN!
  11. Don't be so soft! I'm 33 this year and still count myself as a 'young dude'..... Not sure that my daughter and her 11 & 12 year old friends would agree but whatever!
  12. This is still the ultimate must have for me. Are the EVER coming here officially?
  13. Interesting! i swapped 10mm OP for platinum in my strop, I got annoyed by how 'baggy' the OP felt. That was with a hitch mind you..... Looks smart though Joe
  14. Ah, leave him alone, he's into poetry you know....
  15. I should say the next thing to break will be the recoil spring if it's been messed about with. I don't 'gear up' to run a saw up after I've been fiddling with it either. Sometimes I don't if I'm chopping a barrow full of logs either. But I wouldn't go running round with it revving it without boots & trousers on. My neighbour gets uncomfortable when I'm on the drive in just pants and slippers.....
  16. If you like Britains toys have a look at farmtoysforum.com When my son was born I wanted to get him into them as I was when I was a child so did some web searching and turned that up. Things have moved on a bit! I added a few more to my collection and keep them boxed up in the attic at the farm to pass on to my kids when they're older, hopefully one day they'll be worth something. The one I REALLY regret selling, and have done since the second I let my wife force me into agreeing to do so, is my 1959 S2 Land Rover. 88", full soft top, 3.5 V8. Rough as hell but it was my pride and joy. I sold it to a bloke I shoot with so the second I can afford to buy it back I'll make him an offer! This was our final journey together
  17. Edelrid Superstatic James. Think it's 11mm
  18. I'll check my calendar and see what I can do. I only need one flap open though.....
  19. The other solution we didn't fiddle with on Saturday Joe was a floating anchor / false crotch. You still need a second line for it (but can be a cheap and unspliced) but send the second line over the non isolated limbs with a pulley on the end and your standard ddrt set up attached to it. Haul the whole lot up into the tree, base tie off and away to go. When you get there you can strop in and set your anchor properly. I use this arrangement sometimes for my kids so I can lower them if they panic rather than having to go up and operate their hitch myself....
  20. Very happy with a vt, 3/2 in 75cm of stitched eye 9mm beeline on 11mm aeris main line, 90cm of stitched 10mm OP on Platinum as a lanyard.
  21. Big strong boys like us? course not! That's very clear from the photo Thanks for coming over and bringing Charlie & Joe, good to meet you all. Next stop AA show?
  22. That's a good document, as is all the stuff I've seen from them. The only real flaw I guess is that it precedes the SRT work positioning systems which are taking off - RW, HH & Uni principally - so all the set ups are a bit 'IRATA'.... I picked the bits I liked from some of the systems covered in it, modified them, and put my wrench based kit together. Was a useful starting point.
  23. I keep going into the local Stihl dealer just to pick up a 201t and then a 150t to marvel at how tiny and light it feels. Picking up the two together is quite weird. I seriously want one!
  24. Has this whole weekend has been to set up that Rec ing crew gag? The t shirt thing might come off as a little gay mate. Maybe we should start off with a secret hand shake..... Definitely up for the ARB show, work and family commitments notwithstanding. As soon as I know for sure I'll let you know One flap open Thanks for coming, yesterday, really enjoyed it. Emailed you dude
  25. Welcome mate, enjoyed it. Anyone else get any photos or videos? Did I see you with a camera? We going to do the AA show? Which harness did you like of the ones you tried? Hope you didn't fall in love with the tree motion! And how did you get on with the hitch climber?
