  1. Been there before, will go there again no doubt!
  2. Glad I could help!
  3. No- IP is just a weblocation for your machine. Server is the device that you would go through to access a network eg if you worked in an office and wanted to connect this PC to the office network. This is why I think your need for a server address is wrong as I presume you are just trying to access the web from home? Sorry I don't use a Mac so Im not sure what you are talking about, but still, the need for server details sounds wrong to me.
  4. Some good all round advice here from the RHS
  5. Having to put in a server address to log in to email doesn't sound right IMO - particularly if you are using a web mail service eg Gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc. I presume you have launched the Outlook Express wizard and are looking to connect your email to that? You can if you want obviously, but you just don't have to if you use the web mail. What exactly have you clicked/tried to do?
  6. I'm not far from Kendal so may pop along for a while if I can get away. I have 2 lots of visitors coming on Saturday and a children's party to do! I can't climb at the mo in any case. I had a bit of an accident a couple of weeks back - I managed to flip a buggy/go-kart/bogie that I was racing down a hill resulting in an impinged neck and ankle, sprained shoulder and partial ACL damage! Go-karts are dangerous!
  7. The crafters on here could improve the design and hold more wine on it simply by doing away with the ironwork, drilling the appropriate sized holes into the stem and slotting the bottle in cork end first. You could have holes on one side like a flag, two or three sides like dart flights, or in a spiral pattern around the stem - whatever takes your fancy. Oh and 10% royalties on all sales can be paid to my account. Thanks.
  8. Stoatally - there is also the issue that the cast about bits of wood may intentionally have been left there as part of good forest management in order to increase habitat for invertebrates/decomposers etc at the bottom of the food chain. The intention here is to increase their population so higher order animals will have a food source. In terms of law, yes taking the wood would be stealing (or more correctly 'theft by finding') as others have said, as the wood is private property just like a mobile phone for instance. One thing others haven't mentioned is - well done for coming on to the forum and asking what the correct state of play is, rather then just taking it. Makes you a rather honest chap in my opinion.
  9. I think its Catalpa bignonioides - Indian bean, but I've been wrong before!
  10. This is not a TO bashing thread IMO. It just appears that several of us are experiencing similar problems across the country, due to the lack of time afforded to the TO's for their workload. Unfortunately, it has a very similar knock on effect for us who have to work within the system both from the TO and contractor/consultant perspective. Perhaps the remainder of this thread (or indeed a new one) could be used as an informal 'review' of best/ideal working practices in these circumstances, so we could all go back to our respective TO's and say, "would you mind if I....?". It may help and put you in a good light with your TO, or, it may not help at all!
  11. The TO I am referring to doesn't do pre-application advice (or to be fair, only in the exception as they are too busy generally), and will only vary rarely agree to an onsite meeting. I don't envy TO's to be honest!
  12. When needed I actually put options on my TPO applications and my local TO doesnt seem to mind. For example Option One: Fell.... Details etc., Option Two: Pollard ... Details.. etc. It may not be the best way to do this, but it saves on re-applications.
  13. Just to throw a spanner in the works, and this is purely from memory but I can probably check later - I don't think you can cite fly-tipping in this instance, only littering. The reason is when the branches are attached to the tree, they are actual property - like the land itself. When they are removed, as you know, they remain the property of the original owner even though they are separated from the land/tree. It doesn't matter who cut them, or that they were chucked over the fence, as they are the private property of the owner - they can be fly-tipped on his property as he still owns them. In other words, you can't claim fly-tipping of your own property on your own land. It has to be someone else's property being dumped on your land. So, its a minor point in the scheme of things - but you can accuse them of littering your land which as you would expect is much less significant then fly-tipping.
  14. That big Sitka at aria force is a particular favourite of mine. The picture just doesn't do it justice as to how big it really is! There is a good cell collapsed/elephants foot Monkey Puzzle nearby, yes, although for a reason only known to me and the wife I think it looks more like Nora Batty's tights... http://cozediroze.com/shopping/wp-content/uploads/kathy-staff.jpeg Did you manage to find the money tree at Aria too?
  15. Sharston Tip - Commercial waste with weigh bridge, so you have to pay location here The Tree Station is closed today
  16. Students may live there - but are unlikely to be there out of term. Most universities sent their undergrads home May/June. Perhaps this is why you aren't getting an answer? How did you make the agreement with the owner? Do you have a formal contract? If so, I don't see the problem in getting on with it and billing them as I have personally done a lot of work like this. Even an email agreeing for you to do the work on X day for £N is a formal contract and you can crack on. If you haven't got anything in writing at all then I can understand your hesitancy, but only you know how you set up the agreement to do the work.
  17. My kids stayed up late to see it, and all's we have got is.... cloud!
  18. Steve - red wine is encouraged on Paleo according to some sources. So stay off the fags and have another glass instead!
  19. I agree with Paul. This is the sort of thing the owner should do: http://www.coregravel.co.uk/files/fact-sheets/CORErootprotector-fact-sheet.pdf but unless they have a good pot of cash to throw at it, this is very unlikely to be done. Failing that, can the pathway be removed and pedestrians re-routed to another walkway?
  20. Spot on brush. Felling licences exemptions (England)
  21. If you know how to measure a timber stack, you could assess the volume and work out a per m3 price. There is info here to give you a guide of current FC sale prices: http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/tpi201503.pdf/$FILE/tpi201503.pdf So you should be able to work something out - bearing in mind you have the transportation costs etc.
  22. Fair price.
  23. Had an A50 in the past. Excellent machines.
  24. The pollarding debate rolls on then... I wrote this explanation on pollarding/bolling in march. Hope it helps: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/86400-70-ft-poplar-re-pollard.html#post1281078
  25. Contradictio in terminis!
