  1. R Cheers Tommy , I'll give you a shout if i come out ( geographically speaking ) !!!
  2. I would send it back and exchange it for the fimblsaver ? Job done ?

    Ticks

Good reminder for vigilance if spending any amount of time in woodlands . There is a serious tick-borne encephalitis virus which is spreading in central Europe and there is no cure . It can be prevented by immunisation and i would urge anyone working over here to get it .
  4. It's not impractical .. you can shoot bears with it or get ready for a zombie apocalypse
  5. I've never installed it from the ground , don't see why you couldn't but it's rare to get the final top anchor first go , so I just install it when I get there . Fimblsaver I have . Another good thing about is retrieving it, you don't need to worry about smacking it off a hard standing or rock like the little lightweight alloy pulleys .
  6. I've got one , 11.7mm poison ivy goes through great . The plastic collar on that rope looks excessive ? Great combination if you don't want complete frictionless like me ..
  7. A traditional prussik you are climbing ' one-sided' so to speak . When using a device like the zig zag you climb hand over hand symmetrical with your body . Theoretically this should be easier on your limbs ..
  8. Checking screws on helmets every day I'm sorry doesn't fall into my safety check before i climb . How many people on here were climbing on the zig zag ( life support) and didn't realise it was compromised ? Climbers fault you are saying ? What's the deal with the ' I'm sorry for promoting safe practise' you addressing imbeciles or something ?
  9. It's not the correct advice . Commercial climbers have enough life support stuff to check on top of carrying a screwdriver around ? Correct advice would be to say the manufacturer is aware of the issue and will fix it imminently .
  10. Hi Tommy thankyou for the reply , it's good to here from someone with first hand experience , although all replies are much appreciated . My intention would be to go self employed , I really don't want to work for someone else anymore if I can help it , although initially it may be a needs must thing .Maybe I would need something else apart from treework. Yeh I've started learning a bit of Finnish and think it may take me about 30 years to learn !! If you're looking for another climber this year ( about summer time I'm recuperating from a knee op ) feel free to give me a PM and I can come up no problem , with all own kit . Kind regards
  11. Yes... And two plastic blood bottles dangling off my leg 😵 This was painful getting these removed but a relief none the less . Sent from my HTC Desire 510 using Tapatalk
  12. Well that's my ACL been replaced with part of my hamstring . Was a bit bigger op than what i thought but have had hardly any pain . Start of a long slow recovery i suppose but reading some of the posts again I'm optimistic about the future . Sent from my HTC Desire 510 using Tapatalk
  13. I was thinking of Oulu which has a population of about 190,000 .. That's as far north as is practical on my reckoning on tree size /population ratio if that makes sense ..

    Husky 350

It's what I started out with in 2003 , great little saw , basic maintenance and can't ever remember it letting me down . Gave it to a friend as a present and believe it's still going .
  15. Especially in a wheelchair ( new cruciate ligament)
  16. I'm never off youtube ...
  17. How do you get started in splicing ? Is there a go to book or DVD that can get you on the way ?
  18. What's all this ' everyone's mortified ' business ? I've just seen this and to be honest thought Ken Block looked awesome . I personally could see nothing wrong with it and I'm a passionate military services recognition guy .
