  1. Hi Ross, can you email an invoice for the timber? [email protected]

Would it be ok to get Kieth to pick the timber up in a week or so, or does it need to be moved asap?

Saw your Dad this morning on the roadside near Elsden, had a good day clearing trees for FC, we are getting some decent firewood off the site as well. Steph

  2. That is very helpfull, thanks everyone!
  3. Have a 2002 timberwolf, in desperate need of new infeed roller grab blades changing. Any experiences welcome. I assume that I need to remove feed hopper assembly to access rollers fully? Any idea of cost for new parts? Would expect to do the job ourselves, so any comments useful. Cheers.
  4. Also got mine this week with a refund cheque for £23.00! Will be dining out on this for man months to come - not!
  5. Small amount, but very icy, been down to -9
  6. Hi Bob Pm sent
  7. Sounds like you have been on the course!
  8. We have found the Dawn Redwood very easy to grow from seed, have done loads over the years, and they grow very fast, no special treatment, but they are not very frost hardy. Never had any success with Monkey puzzle seeds.
  9. 2013 is meant to be the best year for 11 years to see them (so it said on evening news!)
  10. I agree, had to do the course myself a couple of years ago, felt put out as it was just 33 in a 30 limit, but it was a real eye opener, I dont speed anymore, roads would be much safer if everyone had to do the course every 5 yrs or so, half the people didnt know what roads signs meant, road markings etc and had forgotten what the highway code said about lots of things, + we got lots of advice from an expert police driver, and no points on the license.
  11. Just driven out in kielder forest looking for the lights, missed them last night, very sad and cold, nothing to see, just a billion stars...
  12. What a great outcome, good to hear that the police actully caught the thieves, made my day!
  13. Not if the timber is in a wood that has poor access and you have no harvest . I would rather earn more money doing tree work or forestry maintenance and pay someone to fell with a harvester etc. We do enjoy felling ourselves, but find we dont have time.
  14. Sales gone off the graph again now we have had some real winter weather, a new customer ordered 6 m hardwood and wanted to pay up front without even checking the price! had 4 days fully booked this week and 3 already for next week, brilliant!
  15. Hardwood cord is £52 tonne delivered in + vat here,(this year and last), processor friendly stuff mainly, mixed load eg: Ash,Sycamore ~Beech etc, paid less for Silver Birch the year before and it was cracking stuff, would like some more, seasoned fast and sold well. Dont think it's any cheaper when we fell our own once you have costed out the time and fuel etc used.
  16. I sell at a lower price to customers that place a regular order for 3m, say every 10 days -2 weeks
  17. Got in from a very cold day herbicide spraying sitka transplants on a deadly site, had to hunt trees out in the long grass everything white with frost (-12 today!), and the phone has been ringing, another 12 orders to do this week, YAY!
  18. You can send your spare to us, would like to see it.
  19. I have one, bought it 4 yrs ago,(05 plates) it has been a good car, no problems with engine or anything else, and does not use as much fuel as the truck. Gets us around in ice/snow easily and drives on forest tracks every day. Not the most comfortable car on a long drive, and very small boot, if you dont need back seats you can throw stuff in the back with seats down. It is ideal for 2 people, 4 adults would be a squash, but kids ok.
  20. 7 orders today, things are looking up!
  21. It's -8 degrees here, positively arctic, everything frozen and white, 9 metres ordered for today, maybe its going to be a busier week than last one!
  22. Are you from a dry part of Uk (south!), it makes a difference. It is so wet and damp up here in Kielder it takes ages to dry! especially after a long cold wet summer.
  23. Thats what my method of working out comes to as well, 1.2tonnes if 25% for 3m3
  24. What type of timber? If it was small diameter stuff up to 8-9 inches it should definately be seasoned, if it was large diameter and had not been split down it could take longer, especially Oak. Maybe your moisture meter is not very accurate. anyway, I find at 30-35% most hardwood burns very well on a wood burner. I try to sell 30 or less if I can, soft wood is around 20 or less.
