  1. Which one you get? Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Just about had it with my bg55, served me well, What's recommended? Thinking of echo, any experience? Thanks Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. I found with oak your better off doing nothing. Inevitably you won't sand it back and oil it frequently enough (no insult to you, just that it takes alot of work) and eventually when it starts to look black oiled wood looks alot worse than the grey/silver that untreated oak goes. Also oiling oak will do little to stop it splitting as it will still dry out. Horizontal surfaces with sitting water are always going to attract blackstaining/mold. In past have tried many tung oils, osmo oil, decking oils, with pre fungicide treatment, and on horizontal oak where water will sit, have found the results poor. 4. Not that excited about having to change sprockets everytime I change chains.know it's not too time consuming, but annoying knowing that I wouldn't have to with other brands Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. 9 pin off a 460 I think. Don't think I have a 7 or 8 pin, both stihl and oregon Chain hasn't needed me to change the sprocket so I thought this isn't the bother. I also noticed I'd knocked a tooth off a brand new 3/8p chain on a 360tes. Not even had A chance to sharpen it yet. The rotatech. 325 chain I been running on my 357 has been fine though. 6. See how much longer the old chains is, same number of drive links Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. Just had a 74dl 325 1.6 chain arrive for a ms361 18" bar and it's too small to fir on bar and sprocket. I really gave it some and managed to squeeze it on bit the back or bar was pressed tight onto the sprocket and I wasn't going to run it like that. It is the correct amount of DL have counted. I tried stretching it with a bottle jack but hasn't made aby better. Any ideas? Pretty much lost the small saving I made for buying a cheap chain by having to mess about with it for 40 mins now..... 9. will have a check, but reckon they are alright, you can hear that its idle is high!
  10. Nah, had a few nasty cuts, usually when being slightly lazy or careless. I knew someone would pull me up on that- think I'd prefer a cut from a silky than chainsaw though. Not to say you could seriously injure yourself with a silky. Maybe we should have to do a silky training 5 day course Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. Yeah we could all be using hand saws as well, be a good bit safer Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Excellent Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Yep, was thinning a lime last week with little makita 230t, not only had someone drilled it with airgun pellets, they had also driven tacks into everything up to 4/5 m. Hand to come down and sharpen 3 times, chain about dead now.groan Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. Be interested to know how old the oldest freelancer is and how they are doing/enjoying themselves. I guess lots of folk get to a point where they prefer to do less climbing and have all the knowledge to run a team relatively easily? Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. When was it last run? Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. I use a stihl normal file guide which I reckon is slightly sturdier the the oregon ones. Just check it's a 3.2 not 4mm file you got as there are 2 sizes of 1/4 pitch chains. Stubbornly filed mine with wrong one for a while when I first got it. Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. It tells me to watch it on YouTube but I can't click on anything and copy the text and doesn't tell me what to search for on you tooobe either. Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. They little teeth a fiddly and hard to see that's for sure? What you using to sharpen it? Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. Cannot see it got a link? Says disabled for use in apps or something Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. I wandered about an air leak too, but the saw really hasn't done much work from new just getting to the end of 2nd chain, so would be dissapointed if it is an airleak. On the bench I can adjust idle to something about right and get no chain creep, however it will stall after 10 seconds or so if clipped and hanging vertical on harness. Alternatively I can give it what sounds like slightly high idle which means it never cuts out when hanging but sometimes as it changes angle or after a cut the chain will run, not just a bit creep either enough to make me want to sort it out. Max rpm seems the same (slightly too high)though not too bothered about this if spark plug colour is looking good. Thanks for the help Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. Is that specifically for carbs with no L and H screws Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Yep, good on you, you're totally right. And worth pulling people up on. Worth picking yer battles though, I.e Mr newton being pretty ironic and basically taking the piss out of people that would use the term "homo" is prob more of a dig at those people rather than at gays. But reckon you know that anyway. Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. Yep, allowance it is, sorry Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Check out "capital gains" think that is what's you thinking of. You are basically right, certain high cost things you can split the cost of over different tax years Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. I've a 2000w husky 320 electric saw, it came with an 18" bar which is misleading to saw the least. An ms170 is significantly more powerful than it. Not really impressed and only use it in workshop if I really can't be arsed to start a petrol saw. Saying that you could theoretically cut firewood with it if you keep it stinging sharp and have the patience of a saint. Sent from my C6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
