  1. The Positioner is better in every way.
  2. Firstly, it's doubtful you'd be capable of being a freelance climber earning this rates. Secondly, the climbers charging the figures you've suggested aren't earning that. Kit, travel costs, cancellations etc take a pretty large chunk out of that top end. The answer to your question will vary with every person you ask, but I agree with your estimate, it's not worth doing for less, which is why I don't.
  3. Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can always throw it at them. Boris the Blade
  4. That looks promising. 3 year warranty too so could possibly have a new one each year 😁
  5. Got a few ryobi batteries. Not really interested in battery though, 2stroke gets you more bang for your buck.
  6. I'm after a 2 stroke multi tool for using round the garden. Strimmer/long reach trimmer is what I need. Being a freelance climber I have no need for the pro options for work, and can't justify spending the money for my own personal use. Has anyone bought any of the cheaper options? I'm really hoping to spend no more than £300.
  7. Many a true thing said in jest mate!
  8. You bought a foot ascender before you bought a rope?
  9. What makes you think they were joking?
  10. So after Spuds saw was responsible for busting my deadeye, on Thursday it decided it needed to go one better and bite a chunk out of my finger. For anyone considering sending a saw to Spud to get it ported, I'd recommend against it. This one is trying to ruin me.
  11. Obvious stuff first. Is the fuel filter and air filter properly clean? Are you using decent fresh petrol and 2 stroke mix?
  12. It's not m-tronic, it doesn't have a carb.
  13. Yeah I enjoy torturing a regular crane guy with my music. It's good fun.
  14. https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/106907-nptc-cs45-arboricultural-ground-worker/
  15. I believe there is a ground based rigging course available. Never met anyone that's done it though.
  16. I was being a fanny by comparison
  17. A bit like "oh, well he'll not be doing any more work today 🙄"
  18. Are you asking me? There's plenty of climbers rigging without Cs 41 and pruning without Cs 40 too
  19. What if the groundy has more experience being a groundy than the climber? I rarely tell my groundies how many wraps. They know that end of the bollard way better than I do. As I said, the climber was way in the wrong, but the groundy could've made it safer for himself, provided he was experienced enough.
  20. That would depend on his experience.
  21. Yeah man I've been there. Better positioning would've kept him out of harms way though.
  22. Could've let go, or positioned himself better, but mostly agree. Terrible decision making on the climbers behalf.
  23. I love the total lack of concern in the climbers voice.
