  1. I shouldn't have asked... Half of the forum think I should do it, and half think it's overpriced. I'm pretty tempted to make a compromise, go through the company and get the 560 and the vat back... But that was't my question....
  2. Ive got loads of stihl saws... And agree with rover they do look plastic fantastic... Im worried it will fall apart with the abuse I give my saws. Not sure id get a new one for 425 rover... Unless you have a supplier I've never heard off. also this is a personal buy, and not a company one so I cant get the vat back on it...
  3. it's a firm 300 quid. Can't negotiate on it.. Would you say its overpriced?
  4. I've been offered a 12 month old one, recently fully services for 300 quid. I don't usually buy second hand equipment, but with this cold snap I'm tempted. Im a stihl man, so dont know much about them. And comments on the saw or price?
  5. hope your touching wood - ive just sent my second one back.
  6. If that's the case don't bother with the stihl. It's very similar to the 200. In fact it's probably a bit more bulky if anything... Balance is about the same. Weight wise I think it's identical. Certainly not noticeable lighter.
  7. Thats disgusting... I'm all for the idea that someone has to be the most expensive and it may as well be you... But 10 quid for 3 logs is borderline robbery.
  8. You mean the attitude of doing the job he's qualified to do now... Mistakes happen and that's life, and for the record if you do knock a phone line out 9 out of 10 times its just a case of reconnecting it.
  9. Anyone who says you need to have a climber to access if those tress are climbable is having a laugh as much as the lads saying it will take 3 weeks. Stick a price on it, make it cheap get the job and do your best. I know flow are gonna say you can't access from pics... But if they are still up after the weather we have had they are sound. Worst case scenario... You hit the telephone lines. They aren't electric and won't hurt you, deny all knowledge and the phone company will end up repairing them for nothing.
  10. go and try on some protector pros. ive got wide feet and mine fit really well. not the cheapest, but given you have to put all your weight on them every day, no point in being cheap with your feet.
  11. I just wondered, if anyone on here had ever climbed a big tree and tugged on the chain, with the wind in their face. Just wanted any advice in regards to clean up and legal issues.
  12. Problem is a working tipper with mot can be brought for about fifteen hundred quid. Also if it's not being used its not earning anything if your subbing. Think about it as a bit off beer money, not saying it would work out economically for a hire company, but when someone on here tried charging over a hundred quid a day for a scabby old tranny tipper when I asked about subbing I just smiled and deleted his number.
  13. Yes it was there. They thought that with all the security and locks it would be ok... Lesson learnt. Put it this way, I dont think they will be leaving the replacement there.
  14. Im not sure, it could be.
  15. I don't have any. I'm working with Matt again tomorrow so will ask him. He's given up hope of getting it back, but it would be nice to be proved wrong.
  16. Umm... Your call. It sounds like bs to me, a sticker will ruin it but being abused in work conditions is fine...
  17. Why would a vinyl sticker affect it? Just go mad and do it... I'd imagine that me chucking my helmet around and saws on top of in the car and van could damage it more than a sticker.
  18. A mate of mine and a guy who was subbying for me today last night had his chipper stolen. It's a tp200 I think and is an 8 inch chipper. The got through 2 locked gates, and angle 2 locks of the chipper before taking it away at 6.30 yesterday. there was also CCTV but it doesn't show faces or number plates sadly. Obviously this has screwed him over as he now needs one to complete his contracts . He is insured so it's not as bad as it could be, but he's still gonna have to foot another 13 grand on top to get a new one. If you are offered one for sale please let me know. I know it will probably he out of the country now but asking cant hurt. Also even after that he turned up and did a full days work for me without complaining or feeling sorry for himself. So if you want the number for a quality climber in Hampshire let me know. Thanks
  19. No, cos I'd win it hands down. Infact my time would humiliate everyone else. I'd just be paralized or dead depending on what height we started from.
  20. That sounds like my 201t... Maybe the dealers have been sent out a batch of fake saws, cos this thing was useless today.
  21. A aprticularly stupid one .
  22. I dont think anyone who compared the two would asume they were the same. They would perhaps if they had glanced at one someone was using once. But then it comes down to a fuel and there money... Stihl have a website full of shiny photos to compare too.
  23. i pay 50 quid for a tranny tipper for a day. or 40 quid if it comes with the climber who owns in on top of his day rate. i think thats fair - any more and I'd think you were trying it on.
  24. I personally don't think it looks that similar.
