  1. Just got back. Apparently I have to go 9-5 tomorrow for the property office... Also officer isn't available to speak to me. If I can convince the duty inspector they are work tools I can have them back.
  2. They havnt given this! I'll get a taxi. I just hope I don't explode and end up getting arrested. Seriously... ARGHHH a harness in a bag... and a ******* saw under cover with a scabbard on! Sorry for the language, but I'm furious!
  3. I would but iv'e had a drink. I'm not risking a ban... I'm completely shocked. If he was a typical chavvy I'd understand (although no agree). But he's never been arrested or been in trouble.
  4. Can't believe this... My little brother just got home... He was stopped by the police because they thought he was too young to be driving my car. I have insurance which let's anyone drive so it's fine. But they have gone and seized my silky and chainsaws because apparently they are offensive weapons in the car... Apparently as he was driving my car he didn't have a legal excuse to have them so they can take them... And the officer told my brother they would probably be destroyed... Obviously I am going to go tomorrow and ask to speak to a senior officer, and if not get my solicitor involved. But I am kind of screwed now for work tomorrow. Any advice on this? Or if not, be careful when going to the supermarket if your harness is on the back seat!!!!
  5. Wait for better man (and women) to answer. The thing is, it depends on so much. Like your age, fitness levels, and attitude. If you present yourself as someone who is going to work like a horse and has a great attitude people will want to give a chance. And in all honesty, tickets are all that is needed.
  6. nc - is a national certificate. this is a one year course and teaches you about ident and other stuff other than how to use a saw and how to climb. nd is national diploma, this is a two year course and goes into much more depth. neither of them are required legally to work in arb, but it will help you out. Also - to note, I'm not a tree surgeon. If i was using one as a subcontractor all i'd be interested in are tickets. However a company who are arb related might want to know you can do more than chop them.
  7. Think your going to have to be a bit more specific. Are you looking at getting just the tickets? (30,31,38,39?) Or are you looking to do an NC or ND? If that doesnt make sense ask. What experience have you got? Your best bet is to just do your 30 and 31 and then get some work experience. Your more likely to find someone who can give you a chance if you can legally work on the ground.
  8. I've never used one. People who have rate them really highly. Can't see many trees where you would need one though. Expensive bit of gucci kit to sit in a bag,
  9. I'd like to know about these special construction type c's which you can't walk in. Or the amazing helmets that drag you into chippers... (cos i've often seen brash entangle in helmets badly enough to rip a man off his feet) Am I the only one who would laugh if someone actually suggested this on a job? Not in a nasty way, but I'd think I was dealing with a really good joker.
  10. If I had a climber in who refused to help on the ground he'd be lucky to get paid. I only have type c trousers and manage to use them on the ground. If he was really that upset about helmets, I'd give him mine and go without. Do think this is a wind up though.
  11. Its not really big enough to tie into. You'd struggle to get 13mm rope though their. I was also told that you could attatch them. But i'm a 15 stone lump and all i could do it twist the metal of an allen key, so I wondered if their was some sort of tool.
  12. Would it be an ipad app? I use my ipad for invoicing and all sorts of work stuff now, and would love something like this.
  13. Do you know what pair of stretch air trousers have green writing on the bum part? Been offered some brand new ones for 150 and am trying to look online to see if its a decent deal. Does anyone know how to open the ISC 25kn swivel eye 3 way karabiner? I dont meen how to open the gate but how to attach it permanently to your harness? I got a couple, and have managed to destroy an allen key. Thinking it must open, or the swivel part it useless. Thanks in advance.
  14. Do you charge that just to domestic clients, or to smaller firms without a chipper as well?
  15. If thats the case drain the fuel and top up with the combican! Tbh im with others here, ill lend my tools out to anyone who knows what they are doing, dont think you should be too precious about it. But a chainsaw can be deadly, if he didnt know about lube, its a fair bet he didnt know aboutkickback! I personally couldnt live with the idea that someone had cut there leg off with my tackle.
  16. Chain and bar damage. If the chain was run really hard it might have got hot enough to damage some of the casing. It it's still running fine, i'd tell neighbour that they owe me a new bar and chain and thankgod that they didn't refuel it with straight petrol! Also worth having a look at the sprocket.
  17. Got the saw today. For anyone considering it, when it runs well it's one amazing saw! Also thanks for getting it sorted so quickly! Sorry if I came across as being precious, yesterday was just one of those days where everything seemed to go balls up! Anyway, what a fantastic service. Can't beat it!
  18. I completely agree with you. I'm more annoyed that I was told it would be looked at straight away (or more precisely as soon as it comes in), and a week later its sitting on a table and I'm none the wiser. I know we don't live in a perfect world, but if you had a customer and you told them you would do something tomorrow and a week later they called you asking what was going on, I don't think you would have that great a rep. Either way, hopefully it's a one off. Everyone on here raves so it looks like the exception rather than the rule. Put simply though, if I had bought a tv from curry's, and it didnt work, I'd have demanded a new one or my money back. It simply seems we have lower standards when it comes to work tools.
  19. Just to let everyone know. I went into my local dealer, they have been onto Stihl and apparently it's a know problem out of their German factory. They have sorted it now, but they wern't tuned up properly. That's all. Sadly after a week, I am still don't have my saw back from FR Jones. I called them today and was told it hadn't been looked at as the tech was on holiday! Annoying cos, when they were picking it up I was assured it would be sorted as soon as it came in. I know everyone on here raves about them, but I'm not impressed that they can't retune a saw in less than a week, after telling me it was a asap priority and that I had to call them to ask what was going on. Really quick to send out saws and take your money, but no so quick to sort something when it goes wrong!
  20. Took the saw into local dealer today, they reckon it is just a tuning issue and it seems pretty common. F r jones are having a courier picking it up tomorrow to sort it as local said it wasnt a warranty issue. Slightly annoying, but can't fault the service. To anyone considering it, I did have the chance to use a fully tuned one today, and it's a cracking saw. Really well balanced and seems lighter than the 200t, just make sure it's running well when you pick it up and I dont think you will be disappointed.
  21. Thanks! I'm guessing you were trained as a saw technician cos I know you didn't learn all you know in cs30! Either way I appreciate all the advice you give mate. Any chance you can pm me your contact details, cos ive seen on here that you do servicing and would be interested in someone for out of warranty equipment. Also I know this is off topic but do you only touch saws or would you look at hedge cutters and blowers etc... (basicallyany 2 stroke equipment)? Thanks sam
  22. The thing is, at least for me it seems like the clutch is slipping or something. Like full throttle doesn't cure it, you have to let it in and out and wait a while while playing with revs.
  23. I won't. But I'm crap at maintenance. I'll take it into stihl dealer and pay them to do it.
  24. Thanks. I have a feeling there might be a clutch problem, because I've used the 200t and it was nothing like this. So either we have a bad batch or still have seriously let themselves down. Ill be interested to see if this is common or not.
  25. Def warranty then. I have taken the sprocket off, cleaned it all out. However saw was like this out of the box.
