  1. Hiya! I have decided to buy an electric chain sharpner, not everyone's cup of tea but I have alot of "old" chains that could potentially be resurrected! I only use small saws, an echo cs280wes, ms260 and possibly a 361(in the future). Which Portek would be best for me? Also which colour/type of disc should I use in it for my saws?
  2. Aha! Yeah, I know the kind! Sorry.....long day!
  3. Ouch! That sounds like a near miss mate! Hope ure hand gets better soon! I'm using a small trailer to move mine, I only wanted to get it into the Hilux to make life easier as no bugger around here can reverse and makes towing a trailer fun! I did try to get it into the Hilux but chickened out, had visions of smashed chippers and body parts!
  4. When you say impact driver do you mean an air powered one? I have an 18v dewalt impact driver that I use for fencing (driving screws), would I be able to use thus if I got a torx bit to fit the Chuck? I have seen mechanics use cordless impact drivers but not sure if it's the same kind if one that I have?!
  5. Sweet! Alot of my work is domestic, back gardens etc so a cs made sence for me!
  6. The timberwolf is a good machine but in my opinion (having owned the earlier model which is almost identical) is that it is somewhat outdated due to its disc chipping system, small indeed, infeed hopper height and physical size! Not to mention the huge difference in cost between it and the greenmech/jo beau equivalent machines. Narrow access machines are the way forwards for me and alot of others, but you can also leave these machines in a trailer and have a trailed chipper if required. Best of both worlds!
  7. It's horses for courses people, the greenmech v jo beau seems to be the new "stihl v husky" debate.....! They are what they are, I bought a greenmech as I prefer the machine, it's British and one came along at the right price! Prices of spares must come into the equation but either machine is a good one! I like the removable cassette in the cs100, someone put some time and thought into that one!
  8. Was a chunk of the £400 due to seized bolts as the blades are only £108+ vat each!
  9. Thanks mate! Just took the cassette off and the blades are completely shot, anvil gap is around 3mm andthe bolts appear to be seized! Think my best (and typically most expensive) option is to take it to my local greenmech dealer and get them to sort it, this will get it back to what it should be and I will be more confident changing the blades myself next time!
  10. I'm going to do this next year, it's a good way to get alot of foot fall and with a decent stand attracts alot of attention! Saw stuck in a log, truck, chipper etc on show......awesome way to get your name out there!
  11. Cheers guys! Which kinda hand winch you on about paul?
  12. Sweet! Any idea on price and quality mate?
  13. Thanks mate! It ain't no tirfor but a hell of alot cheaper and seeing as I only take on small jobs (where the wonga is!) then might be an option for me!
  14. Hiya! I quite often have small stumps to pull out, at present I'm borrowing my mates tirfor winch. Been looking at the small ratchet pull winches, 2000kg pull for about £30! They dont have the capacity to pull as far as a tirfor but wondered if they are any good for pulling small stumps? The lack of length of pull could be overcome by re-slinging the stump when you run out of pull, if that makes sence?
  15. I'm after a new set of blades for my cs100, I have looked on Saturn knives website but they don't seem to list any for a cs100? Anywhere else I can try before going to my local greenmech dealer?
  16. I'm not sure what angle they were ground to last time they were sharpened, but they are seriously blunt! The odd bit of wood left in the hopper between loading it was smoking as the drum tried to chip it!
  17. . Will prob get a new set of blades as its handy to have 2 and rotate them when a set is away to be sharpened! Anyone know the best/cheapest place to get a set of blades for a cs100?
  18. Cheers guys! Kinda new the blades needed sharpening but just nice to have some reassurance! Paul, I don't have a credit card, will my mensa membership card or beano club card do?
  19. Hiya, Just used my second hand cs100 for the first time, does a good job but it dosent pull anything in and I'm having to push the brash through with lots of vibration! Hoping it's just the blades that need sharpening!?
