  1. Ha ha! Maybe a tad crazy to do that drive but living in deepest darkest Cornwall you don't have much choice! Fuel consumption wernt that bad, no worse than me old l200!
  2. Not sure on tank size mate but used about £70ish!
  3. Well I finally got home! 333 miles @50 mph! Left at around 11 this morning and just got in! Few stops etc but went well, wouldn't wanna do it again tomorrow though! Lol!
  4. Wernt some bloke looking for a cheap tractor to run a log splitter the other day John?
  5. Will do mate! Will pick up some spare oil/water etc and I'm sure it will be fine! Drove a few when I worked for the MOD so know most of their "quirks"! Lol!
  6. Yeah mate, some of the landy pundits say it's the best engine they made!
  7. Cheers for the comments guys! It's got a 200tdi in it!
  8. Prob wont help being 6' 2"! Lol!
  9. Thanks mate!
  10. Ha ha! Thanks mate, positive attitude! It's a 300 mile trip home so I'm gonna make a little trip out of it and stop somewhere halfway home so 150 miles a day will be fine!
  11. I trust the seller completly but having had dealings with landrovers before I understand their little "quirks" of breaking down! Just wanted some peace of mind.
  12. Cheers mate, kinda what I was thinking! There's no rush, a steady 50mph equates to 150 miles a day (3 hrs driving) so 2 days should be doable!
  13. Well guys I used to have an l200 (which alot of people slate!) and it blew its head gasket and rotted out so I'm getting a landy as it is more practical (repairable if/when it goes wrong, tipper, load capacity, towing capacity, will go off road and will have a decent resale price if and when I sell it!). I understand that it ain't a motorway cruiser and would be more convenient if it was closer but unfortunately I live in Cornwall so have to travel to get it. Not an ideal situation but I need to get back to work so have little choice!
  14. Cheers for the replies guy's! Will keep ya informed with my progress! Sweapstake anyone?! Lol!
  15. Ha ha! Doing it over 2 days......who said adventure was dead!
  16. Cheers guys!
  17. Hiya, I'm picking up my new truck on Saturday, a 1986 110 tipper, it's a 300 mile drive home (will prob be spread over 2 days!). I would like to sort out some form of temporary breakdown cover but no one seems to supply this for a vehicle this old! I don't have breakdown cover with my insurance company. Hopefully it will complete the journey fine but would rather be safe than sorry! Anyone know any companies that would supply temporary cover for a landrover this age?
  18. If you can fell it towards the camera (after moving the obligatory plant pot!) then £150!
  19. Voted.....now where's my hot chocolate!?
  20. Wood smokers spring to mind!
  21. They ain't that expensive new, surely you bought one to do your climbing tickets? Not worth taking the risk on second hand climbing gear when your entrusting your life and income to it!?
  22. No worries mate, had a long day so prob didn't come across right!
  23. This is the point I was trying to make. I think you would be better off having a climber and groundie and contract the traffic management out to the experts, less risk etc. I would charge £350 to cover the actual work and put the cost of the TM on top. Hence my comment that a climber and groundie should be able to complete the job in a day if TM is contracted out.
  24. I was trying to ascertain what the other 2 guys would be doing? If they are there to control traffic then it would be a more sensible idea to get some TM on the job. Just humble opinion and I apologize for offering it!
  25. I take it that 2 of the guys are on traffic control? If the chip is being left on site and it wasn't next to a road then a climber and groundie should be able to smash that out in a day!? I would put £350 on it but depends on where you are in the country. I would also be inclined to get a TM company in, as if anything goes wrong you might be in hot water, obviously the price of TM would be on top of the £350.
