  1. Sweet!
  2. Sweet! Satisfying ain't it! If ya need a chipped anytime soon let me know and I can give ya a price to hire me and chipper, will pop over sometime and pick me shovel up too! Lol!
  3. Hiya. Got an enquiry through Facebook about landscaping a woman's garden. Went to have a look today, she didn't know what she wants so I suggested starting with her fence that needs doing. Apparently she had some local guy in to remove her hedge and do the fence, he removed the hedge (and left it in her garden) and put some fence posts in. I have never seen such a bodge job! Post spacing varied from 1.2m to about 2.9m! I have no idea what he planned to attach to them or where he would get timber in such lengths! I said to her that if she wanted I could do the fence (feather edge) using the posts but it would take longer and would prob end up in a lot of wasted materials. I then asked her if he concrete them in, "yeah, he used a bag and a half of postcrete". When I said that using a bag and a half per hole would be strong enough she said, "no, he used a bag and a half for all the holes"! There were 8 holes. Nuff said. The posts weren't even in line. I leaned a spade on one and it fell over, holes were about a foot deep. I basically said that it needs doing again, sent her a quote of £480 all in (for approx 12m of feather edge) and she couldn't believe how expensive that was! Can't help some people! Turns out a mate of mine did some work there and said that she's a pain in the ass, wants something for nothing. The problem is that she's only wasting money trying to get it done on the cheap! Some people never learn!
  4. Sweet. Thanks mate!
  5. Cheers mate! Is your saw acs280wes?
  6. How many drive links does a 10 inch chain have?
  7. Prob worth going to chains direct then!
  8. Cheers mate! It worth changing then? I mostly do small trees or use the echo for trimming fence post tops to the right height.
  9. Yeah, it came from abby. I'm not sure how they would have set it up if needed as they couldn't have run the saw as there was no trace of fluids in it!
  10. Cheers spud, will give it a go once I have got the right tool. Handily they don't supply the correct tool to adjust the carb even though it tells you how to do it in the manual!
  11. Out of interest where did you get the 10" bar and chain and roughly how much?
  12. I will have a go at adjusting the carb and see what happens! Might just be a case of that's how these saws run if you have the same issues!
  13. That's kinda what I thought, might have to get it tuned then. Cheers for the replies!
  14. Hiya, I recently bought an echo cs280wes. It's a real nice lightweight saw and I'm very happy with it! However it does seem slow to pick up revs and I don't think it's revving out as it should. So my question is do new saws need running in and will the performance get better with use? Might seem like a stupid question but I have never had the luxury of having a brand new saw before!
  15. Completely agree mate!
  16. No worries mate! I don't mind helping people that are willing to help themselves. I never had anything handed to me on a plate so why others can't do it for themselves is beyond me! Seems to be a common prob with alot of younger people these days. If it's too much like hard work they can't be bothered. If they can't be bothered then why should I!
  17. I would be very reluctant to employ someone that has a track record like his. He has had opportunity to impress and has epically failed, I don't know anyone that could afford to employ anyone who can't even turn up for work! Might sound harsh but as we all know business ain't a hobby!
  18. Anyone else bored with this now.......?
  19. I just bought a cs280wes as a topping/chipper saw, it seems to be good quality and well put together. The only issues so far are that it is a little slow on the pickup when revved but this will prob get better with use. The only other thing is that the Stihl combi can no spill spouts won't fit into the oil and fuel tanks, a funnel has to be used. For what it is I'm well happy with it, was only £230 Inc vat so can't go wrong!
  20. Maybe if your chipplin Balsa!
  21. Big T

    Big saws

Echo, Makita or Mitox (some people on here rate then well) if you are on a budget!
  22. I lived on a boat for 12 months, wasnt as romantic as you think! Condinsation was the worst problem, especially in winter when it was too cold to open a window etc for ventilation! I remember waking up one night in the middle of winter and the duvet cracked as I rolled over due to being frozen! I was going to install a woodburner but never got around to it, I spose this would have helped! Other things to think about are the lack of electricity (its suprizing how much you need it wothout realizing!) and the supply/disposal of water. If you can make it work then its great but its worth doing your homewrok first!
  23. They fit fine, I have climbed in them ok! Worth a punt at the price.
  24. Still got mine! One of the pockets has blown out but apart from that they are going strong! For the money I recon they are hard to beat, think I got mine from FR Jones, were around £50 ish if I remamber correctly!
  25. Cheers guys!
