  1. I would say a prusik is safer than a vt as with every body thrust you slide the knot up and are locked off every time you ascend whereas a vt or any sort hitch used with a self tending pulley has the potential for you to pull lots of slack into the system if you don't tend it regularly but a vt (I think) is a much more efficient way of climbing
  2. Apologies old mill I didn't read the post you were quoting before I wrote mine
  3. Cheers Ollie glad to hear your getting on well with the pod 👍
  4. I think you'll find the ropeknight came first old mill and your statement should be the other way round 😉
  5. No offence taken mate 😉 I know you were kidding
  6. Well done mate that's a very respectable position. That would be great if you could give Ian a nudge I'm keen to find out how I did
  7. Oh right. Basically they didn't have a printer so couldn't give out the score sheets to people so myself and a few others don't know where we placed. How did you do?
  8. Thanks very much Rupe have you heard anything about the scores A bit annoying they couldn't sort that out
  9. I was lucky enough at the weekend to witness a beech fall over of it own accord. It was at the highclere country game fair on Sunday evening, not a breath of wind, I was eating dinner at a burger van (healthy) and heard a massive crack and turned around to see the tree coming over. A massive crowd ran towards it to see if any one was under it as there were a few tents nearby luckily no one was hurt. Went to have a look at the point of failure and found a nice included union and a small patch of kretzschmaria .
  10. No one is forcing you to buy one grace and if you don't like the price then fair enough, but quite frankly I think your attitude is appalling. The price is what the price had to be to make it worth while doing. It is a bespoke handmade product made in the uk not mass produced in china.
  11. Had a bit of a shocker in the throwline Not because of the throwpod but because of the bag on the other end of the line. I got a shot straight over ten but had to double bag the line to get it in the markers then had to isolate and ended up not being able to get the bag to come down and ended up getting it stuck. I had to climb and get the stuck bag and ended up getting the ten perfectly with the throwpod on the second shot which was annoying as hell
  12. Bigshot and a throwpod There'll be throwline workshops at the 3atc comp at the welsh wood fair if your heading over that way at the end of the month
  13. I've been using the petzl airline with my 8oz. It's really soft in the hand and runs really fast, I recommend it
  14. The bottom link doesn't look quite right either have you missed putting the rope through it?
  15. I've seen a RK put a hole in a Tarmac drive. Be careful out there OMT, always wear a helmet!
  16. Which size bat plate are you going to use? Looks like it could be quite a bulky setup
  17. Finding it hard to imagine lets have a picture
  18. Found this blog on treetools, make an interesting read http://dlvr.it/3JrsSz Food for thought
  19. The one I used was burrowed from someone I worked with so I gave it a good go but then had to give it back. Another point I'll make for the review between them is although the SJ seems more high tech then the LJ, it is cheaper
  20. I gave the lock jack a go for a week and found it very jerky and hard to get on with, I nicknamed it the toilet flush of death. The spiderjack on the other hand is awesome. Really smooth and you can really move round the tree quickly with the self feed feature, It's really good on big take downs because of that
  21. Haha fair enough dude hopefully see you at one of the shows
  22. Nice one Mark although they will be on sale out there in the next couple of weeks. What's your solution for attaching to the nose?
  23. Honeys should have some 8oz in the next week or so
