  1. I find It makes me look at the other climber and think he's going quicker than me an makes me step it up a bit haha
  2. Any thing. If the tree is big enough we'll all go up
  3. What's hard to believe about having a second climber in the tree! It's not only safer because you can rescue each other but it gets the job done quicker, I've worked in trees with 3 or 4 other climbers in the past
  4. It's all down to site risk assessment. A lot of company's (not all) that I work for will put two climbers in a tree purely so one can rescue the other, Obviously this is not possible on every job but I always access the tree on a separate line on ascenders which I leave in the tree and send the ascenders back down if the crew on the ground don't have any. Which means none of this wearing a harness all day business, if anything I'd say wearing a harness on the ground is more of a risk than a good thing because you could snag it on branches and get pulled into a chipper etc
  5. Or back up your ascenders with a hitch above or a mechanical device like a dmm buddy or isc rocker
  6. If failures occur at 4kn with toothed accenders why not use a snake anchor or petzl absorbica in you base anchor which are designed to absorb a dynamic fall of 4kn or use ropes like the beal dynastat which is a semi static rope which is designed to become dynamic when subjected to a fall
  7. There must be some legislation some where that says two way connection equipment can be used otherwise why would this equipment exist, there are not only snaps on the market, there are also two way krabs from skylotek and black diamond out there
  8. Side d's are life support because they are rated attachment points, but depending on the harness it depends how you can use them, eg the TM side d's can only be used when the weight is distributed horizontally through the rope, The lower d's however can be used horizontally and hung from vertically because it's the same distribution as hanging from the bridge. But other harness's with one set of side d's should only be used horizontally. As for the snap hook question check the ce or en numbers for they're suitable use, I used a two way snap hook when I was at college which was provided by the college and did so for a year or so after I left
  9. The pulley saver is much more versatile than the rope guide. I don't have much trouble retrieving mine but I did swap the red clip for a trapeze 4 which works a lot better
  10. Yeah it's open to all levels not sure how many spaces are left though its proved popular but if its a success I'm sure there will be more in the future
  11. Here's the flier Q
  12. I'm based in Hampshire if your up for a climb or on sept 14th there's an advanced climbing workshop being held at the new treekit shop down in Bournemouth pm me if your interested
  13. I fancied giving that new dmm rhino ago, any one tried it with the spider yet
  14. Yeah I suppose the throwpod is quite sporty
  15. No words were lost in translation we all speak and read English and we all know what you said an apology would of been better, but now it's to late
  16. You might of edited this post but don't ever call me thick again
  17. So how is the ring or whatever you use not obtrusive in this setup?
  18. Doesn't the long gun technique require a ring?
  19. The ring doesn't make a difference because it doesn't pivot like a bags ring does. Rubber may have a lot of friction but the rubber used in a pod is very smooth just watch the videos. Also rubber is much safer for the user and other targets than a lump of metal flying through the air. And as for 'stroking my black thing lovingly' I think that's rich coming from you Thomas😉
  20. I think you need to and use other bags before you say RK is more effective than anything else
  21. Have you tried a throwpod?
  22. Now that is an expensive setup
  23. Go for the throwpod, 12oz bag and zing it or petzl airline with a falteimer cube. Bit of a pricey setup but it'll last
  24. How many wraps and twists do you use on a vt? I use 4w an 3t and doesn't slip for me also depends on your climbing line an cord choice, some work better than others
